  1. The Twins are better off fixing Gibson, as they won't get anything in a trade.
  2. I'm leaning McKay, but think it should be Wright or McKay.
  3. Here's to removing Smalley from the record book!
  4. I'd argue 30 aces total and go with top 30 pitchers... just me. Probably still a bit higher there, as number 30 on the list may not be a shut down pitcher in the mold that we want.. that said, I'd call Santana a #2 at worst, as 2s can have ace seasons (which Santana is having thus far). No question so far though that he's an ace. If we are out of contention at the deadline, there's a real question as to whether to trade the 1.5 years of Santana for a prospect haul (and I'd have to think he'd get a nice return) or keep him.
  5. One thing I'm curious about is whether or not his arm will get stronger over time. He was hurt in 2015 and didn't pitch hardly at all in 2016. Could be something where you see that velocity improve a bit as the season goes on.
  6. I vote Hildenberger. Given how bad the pen is, I think there's wisdom in an early 40 man add for him and just letting him sit up here all season and learning at the major league level.
  7. Cleveland is the only city to have a river burn out of control... twice...
  8. Lest we forget, Gordon got off to a similar start last year... I'm not against promotion, but he cooled considerably as the season went on... I'm hoping that was more about him tiring than anything, but something to keep in mind.
  9. Probably some of this. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a certain amount of taking steps back on the developmental side too, forcing kids in the minors to spend more effort controlling their FB. I'm not sure what made Berrios so hittable in the majors last season, but I am not too worried just yet if they want him to get a few more starts in to help reinforce the new behaviors they are trying to teach. I doubt, at this point, it has anything to do with the WBC. That may have cost him a spot this spring, but once that decision was made, Berrios is now in a position where he has to earn it. I think the retaliation/punishment angle is way overblown.
  10. Wow... just looked at Vargas's numbers so far... am I the only one wondering if Sano/Vargas can be our A-Rod/Martinez combo? Now we just got to get Buxton going...
  11. Do you trust the pen to hold a 5 run lead over 4 innings?
  12. And as the world turns, Gibson notched a quality start in Rochester...
  13. meh, I was thinking the freeways, but I'm sure the smog can clog real arteries too.
  14. well, it's Chicago, so I'm guessing very clogged.
  15. I think the team as a whole is more of a pretender at the moment. Too much risk in SP....
  16. It doesn't seem to be hurting McKay right now... But if McKay can do it, you're looking at a potential 10 WAR player... I'm not saying he plays every day, but if you have a pinch hit bat off the bench in a tough spot and a spot starter at DH/1B, you just gave yourself a ton of roster flexibility. Ultimately, I think it's McKay's decision and the team can scrap it in a year if it's clear it isn't working. There's virtually no risk there.
  17. John, I'm curious if this is info you've gotten from the front office or just an opinion. While I share an opinion that this is likely true, I personally think the front office would be wise to experiment with it... But that said, I'm very curious if this is the feel you've gotten from taking to Falvey and Levine.
  18. The easier way would be to have Gibson and Hughes change their last names.
  19. Love the top... what a month for Palacios.. Garver should have been in the top 6 over Whitefield or Weil... not disparaging what those two did, but if Gordon as a SS sits at 6, Garver as a C should be up there too, especially given that he hit better than all of them.
  20. Pretty much. Snipe is a common species here in Indiana... or so I've been told. Never shot one though. Quite elusive. Kind of like the Twins and playoff contention.
  21. The best part is that eventually there may be a Twins game being discussed.
  22. No honorable mention for DRod... who I might add is having a fine season to date. Wonder if the Twins will push him harder given his age.
