  1. Hopefully for Gibby, this is only about the cold. Numbers are clear he didn't have his best stuff.
  2. I'm not sure how the pickoff even comes into play here. That stuff will happen, and a pitcher can fool a runner. Not saying it isn't heads up and cannot be corrected, but to me at least, that's a tradeoff for having someone who will be an aggressive base runner. As for not running out the pop up... yeah, no excuse. At the very least he should have been moving down the line. Even at a jog, he's safe or potentially forces an error.
  3. I like Dozier as he's one of my favorites, but with the talent in the pipeline, Polanco, and probably Gordon at some point this year, the Twins really don't have a need to keep him. I could see 2019, but beyond that, it's more than likely a poor allocation of resources. I wish the guy well, and I would definitely QO him, but beyond that, I fully expect him to be playing elsewhere.
  4. I think one of the things the new FO is doing is concentrating more on HS pitching prospects... just my thought. I don't think it's an accident that they went after Enlow and Leach. Wouldn't be surprised if you see an HS pitcher taken in rounds 2-4 this year too.
  5. pretty impressive K rate right now for Duke.
  6. I didn't know Santana was healthy... nor did I know we traded him to Pittsburg.
  7. given the way the game is going, I may as well work today
  8. If he put up those numbers, I'd think he would be a candidate, especially on a winning team with good defense. I know defensive metrics don't seem to like him, but I don't think they are capturing that. He's got above average range and a strong arm. He makes the occasional boneheaded play in the field, which I hope goes away with maturity. I know people are in love with Kepler here, but I think Rosario is more likely to be a star. If he keeps dropping his swings on bad pitches, he's going to be a monster with the bat.
  9. Hopefully this is an omen of things to come with Kyle. Him taking a big step forward would be a huge addition to this staff.
  10. It will be supply and demand. I seem to remember the Yankees being kind of weak at 2nd as well. If Dozier is the only blue chipper out there, he's going to get a nice offer. As for the report, yes, this is odd. I didn't know they were in talks given that Dozier wanted to be a FA... That was his way of saying wow me or let me try FA. In his case, with Gordon in the pipeline and Polanco under contract, at best we will only need him for another year. He's right in wanting something more than that. He's going to get a QO from us unless something really bad happens. That's probably the best possible place the Twins can be in. Dozier can gage the market and decide if he wants to accept it or not.
  11. I don't think means what you think it does.
  12. I don't think this is an issue with Buxton getting his feet under him, but one that he looked absolutely awful in two at bats. As noted, a professional hitter was needed in that situation.
  13. I was about to give Reed crap for a 4.5 K/9, but he struck out Valencia to make it a 9K/9... all is good. He must be a good pitcher now.
  14. Is there a rule against how many curveballs a batter can get in a game?
