  1. pretty sure the college juniors can go back. baseball rules are a bit different than football for whatever reason.
  2. That is an interesting point. They cannot exactly lowball them. I'm wondering if the analytics guys took a long look at the types of people that improve their stock from Junior to Senior year and decided to draft all of them... who knows.
  3. guess drafting HS guys are out of the picture.
  4. yeah, he's not going to pitch much in the mid-90s... he does seem to get the Ks though... at least in small samples.
  5. Except for the first inning, he didn't have too much problems hitting his spots, and as I mentioned before, they had 3 infielders on the left side of the infield and had him pitching inside to Cleveland's righty heavy lineup. That first inning he went through 20+ pitches and threw more balls the strikes. After that, he settled down and was very efficient... So no, I don't think it was a bad call to leave him in. And let's not forget just how bad our pen has been. A shorter leash, perhaps.. but he wasn't showing sigs of slowing down.
  6. Cruz and Garver both. Sano too, though in his case the return was a bit more need based... Either way, I think both Cruz and Garver could have used a bit more time rehabbing. No need to play in the field for either, just get their timing back...Given how well the team has hit, I'm a bit surprised that both had very short stints in the minors recovering their timing. I just wonder how today's game would have went if it had been Castro and Cron in their place.
  7. almost all of it, interestingly enough, was from the first inning where he threw about 20 pitches and more balls than strikes. They had the shift on the entire inning and he was asked to pepper the inside only,
  8. I'm not sure about that. He hadn't even thrown 80 pitches at that point. Game was tight and well, you know all about our pen. I think the decision was justifiable.
  9. Will Holland, Auburn, SS. Yeah, this is definitely interesting. Perhaps they see a weakness on the hitting side in the lower minors? Lots of MIs... Still want to see some high schoolers. I've got to think these guys will be going under slot.
  10. I'd like to believe it's b/c they have their eye on a number of HS pitchers... at least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself.
  11. Nope... he got drafted right before us... guessing he's going pro.
  12. they should be... Obviously, we don't know the handshake agreements, but it seems like all of their picks yesterday were the type to go under slot. They could fork out 2M on someone.
  13. still some decent HS pitching on the board... hoping we can nab one of them. https://www.mlb.com/news/best-players-available-on-day-2-of-mlb-draft
  14. What she didn't tell you is what types of "points" those were.
  15. presumably these guys will go under slot which should leave them with some room to grab some HS players... hoping for a couple of HS arms.
  16. BPA at this point is incredibly subjective as it is. Not like there's a sure fire all star just sitting there falling... A few "reaches" on talent they are pretty sure will make it allows for a lot of HS talent to be taken later over slot. That works really well.
  17. I just watched the replay of that shot... It was 325 at the point it hit that speaker. That would have been close to 500 feet had it actually landed on it's original trajectory. It was a monster shot.
  18. I've always enjoyed your draft takes for the record... stick around
  19. I think we had a similar start the year we drafted Mauer at 1 overall.
  20. I like Langileers personally, especially if they can get him 1M or so under slot...Otherwise, Espino would be my preference. I hope they stock up on HS talent. I'd rather go with upside in this draft. They don't really need a bunch of fast to the majors type players given a locked down core and some good prospects in the high minors.
  21. Honestly, one of the things I've enjoyed about this season is not spending so much time following the draft... The draft thread at this point last years was probably 20 pages... This year, it's 4...
  22. not quite sure I agree. That adrenaline should have kicked in during the 7th when they spotted them 5 runs. You should be worried about the pen. It's not that good.
