    Looks like Adam already pitched a game for NB... I don't remember seeing his name announced as the PTBNL for the Willingham trade.

    Couple things I'd note is that Plouffe right now is in the 5-10 range for 3B. To me, that says he has value. The question at hand is whether or not that value is realized in MN or on another team. At 28, the other question is whether the Twins go year to year or get a cheaper extension buying out a year of FA. That might make him more palatable in a trade, assuming he continues to imrpove. I think there's value in that. Even as a utility guy, Plouffe could play a corner OF position, 3B, and 1B reasonably well. Heck, he could play up the middle (not terribly well) in a pinch. They could get a full season in for him in that type of role as a 10th man and justify the cost.

    I like the idea of solving LF by putting Mauer there. I think he'd be a pretty good one. I don't mind Pinto getting some 1B time, perhaps to spell Parmelee in your situation, though I still think Pinto should be catching.

    I don't reallly see another choice (unless some injury/ineffectiveness opens up another spot for him). Bottom line is that he needs to play. Besides, those guys will need an occasional day off. Pinto can cover for them in that situation.

    I would hope that he's not traded. He can catch 60 games next season as Suzuki's primary backup. I think Gardy is going to have to be a bit creative, and perhaps he grabs an OF glove and plays a few games out there, but 60 at C, 20 in LF, and another 30 or so at DH would keep him in the lineup most days.

    Thorpe's ERA is now below 4. His K rate is climbing and his walk rate is dropping. He didn't go 5 innings, but unearned runs kill regardless. Overall, he's doing pretty well for an 18 year old in the MWL.

    I guess I think Escobar is more valuable. He's an above average SS both offensively and defensively. I'd echo what others said in that presently, he's got a few question marks that would be answered by one more decent season, but I do think that that he'd net something better than Kepler or Walker. Both of them fit in the high risk/high reward mold presently.

    The main reason why I use the term "we" in most of my posts is that it's less confrontational as doesn't call anyone out. If you notice, I do that in a lot of my posts and I apologize if that was misunderstood. It's good practice, especially for those who constantly find themselves in confrontational situations. There are some great books on that subject, which I highly recommend if anyone wants to PM me about it. That said, I get the high threshold for pain. Some players have it, though I'm not sure every one of your examples applies (such as Jordan), but it has it's limits. For every Radke (torn labrum) or Favre (the ankle beating he took, though you need to take adrenaline into account in his situation), there are a hundred Nolascos who actually make the team worse toughing out injuries. I have a hard time believing that Mauer isn't tough because he didn't play baseball while having pneumonia, a torn meniscus, or whatever health problem it was that was preventing him from doing basic things like squatting, and I'd say that about any player. They are human beings, and while they are exceptional at being atheletes, they don't have superpowers.

    The Twins got Liriano in an absolute steal of a trade, and while it didn't look like it at first, it looks like they got a steal when they traded him! I have to wonder what he'd fetch. The real concern I have is what happens when Santana turns back into a pumpkin. Is he going to still post a .700 OPS will playing good defense (with the occasional lapse)? If so, yeah, I'd trade Escobar... for what though. This team could really use a good corner OF for the next wave, but I don't see teams offering up the type of player I'd want (probably something like Arcia, high ceiling bat and hopefully average defense).

    So if Santana is the ultimate answer, do the Twins trade Escobar when he gets expensive? An above average defensive SS with a .700 OPS is quite valuable.

    He has quietly flown under the radar, and yes, he's more a back end guy. He was one of those hard throwing relievers that were drafted in 2012 and turned into a starter. The real question is if he can figure out how to get more Ks. His career minor league rate is around 7. That's not bad, but that's going to drop in the majors. If he can improve there, there could be more of a ceiling.

    Rodon is also a college player. Stewart was a HS player. Rodon is a bit more used to the work load.

    I guess the issue I have with 'toughness' is that I really don't think we want that. I'm no professional baseball player, but I do remain fairly active. I play softball in the summer, soccer most of the year, and I'm training for my second marathon. I've never had pnuemonia, but I have had bronchitis on several occasions. It can take more than month (for me at least) to recover from that and even begin to do what I was doing prior to it. I cannot imagine how much more is needed to play at a high level. Sure, Mauer could show up in that scenario, but what would the end results be? Do people really think he'd still be winning batting titles with bi-lateral leg weakness (or whatever it finally ended up being)? Sure, he could occupy a spot, but with most of the ailments mentioned, he wouldn't be very effective at all. I get that all athletes play through pain from time to time, but there's also a pretty stark line in the sand where their effectivness diminishes. I don't think you want them up when that happens, otherwise you end up with what we dealt with Nolaso.

    Arcia needs to cut back on those Ks... at 30%, he's not going to keep getting extended trials...

    I really do hope TR has another trade or two in the works for some bullpen arms... at this point, I'd be happy with cash considerations as the team needs to get guys like Tonkin up and getting PT.

    I seem to remember scouts saying he'd have been a late first rounder this year had he been in the draft. His performance of late is making that look like a steal. Not many 18 year olds are that polished. His K rate is better than Stewart (though his other peripherals are not).

    I like the move. I was hoping more lower minors, but this kid has a ceiling and is more of a buy low type guy. Trevor May was a buy low guy, and bad debut aside, he looks promising. Worst case, another solid option. Best case, an above average starter. I'll take it.

    Hopefully there's more to this than getting hot for a month. I'd argue if he sustains it, then he may find his way into AA next year, but if not, I think Seth is right in that he should repeat... That said, he's got 3 options left, so they cannot keep him in low A for too long. I'd have to think he'd get a shot at AA next season at some point.

They are both Minnesotans. I'd love Scott Schebler too, but I'm guessing his stock has improved too much at this point. Anyways, the Dodgers did give up Sulbaran for Butera, so hopefully they will give up something of value for KC.

    I wonder how easy it would be to reach out to some bigger names for occasional stories. I could see doing things with some of the other internet blogging names. (example: Seth working something with John Sickles or a cameo from Gleeman)... that kind of stuff. Also, what would be nice is getting more things along the lines of what Jack Goin has occasionally done. A Q and A with Twins execs where we give a bunch of questions in advance or even a cameo appearance in the forums... Just a thought.

    I think he has a decent game going into the 7th inning and giving up 3 runs. He will rack up a lot of Ks which will keep people hopeful.

    I think this is pretty close. Pelfrey will be on the roster, and I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up a bench guy.
