  1. I think this is the right call, even though Hicks is the better player right now. I expect Rosario to struggle. If he doesn't, great. But if he does, he's down in 15 days with a few things to work on. Hicks had 2 years. I want to see him do well for something longer than a few weeks before he gets the call.
  2. I think RiverBrian needs to go back on the adderol.
  3. I'm not sure we should be suggesting they call up Sano. His average is well below the Mendoza line in AA right now. Yeah, he's got the home runs, but not much else. I'd call up Walker before Sano right now and I think Walker needs a lot more time too. Pinto is the best solution at DH presently. He can catch too (and I'd argue he needs to on a somewhat consistent basis). Buxton is heating up. I'd probably let him go for another month and move him to AAA after Hicks is promoted (which if he keeps hitting will have to happen).
  4. I'd say the good news with Meyer is that it looks like he ran out of gas. 7 IP, 2 BB, 1ER, and 6K, only to see the walks/ER rise in the 8th when. We'd be pretty happy about the line through 7.
  5. Without looking at this too close, the first thought that comes to mind is that it's not a good idea to use pitchers nearing the end of their careers or minor league guys who haven't hit the majors for the simple reason that these guys could have plenty of non TJS reasons as to why they are no longer in the majors. Plenty of prospects (even highly thought of ones) never get there for various reasons, and plenty of vets fall off a cliff in their 30s. I would think you'd need to normalize those numbers based on success/failure of non TJS players in the same categories... that isn't easy to do. As for Aiken at 6, it's all risk reward. If there's reason to think the risk is a bit higher for Aiken due to some medical reason, I probably let him slide. If this is a standard TJS type deal, I'd have a hard time not taking him, especially in a weaker class.
  6. I have to think it's coming... maybe not just yet, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he heads down to AAA for some seasoning.
  7. Man I hope Walker can keep that up. That would be a huge boon to the organization if he's figuring out advanced pitching. He's certainly starting off much better than he did at FTM last year.
  8. Switching back to Arcia for a bit... I have a tough time believing he cannot be an average defender. He's not some fat out of shape slob. And I'd add that the way he's swinging the bat right now, I'd probably give him some time in AAA to season. He's not playing his best right now. Not sure if the coaches are getting through to him or not, but he's been pretty bad on both sides of the ball.
  9. AA is probably the second biggest jump in terms of difficulty. I expect them to struggle. It happens. They have to adjust. The ones that cannot flame out, and sometimes it takes time. Prospects that can dominate AA end up pretty high on the lists.
  10. MLB is investigating this now too, as there's a rash of tests for Stanozol, which they note is an oldschool way of cheating and easily detectable. I'd be really curious if its gotten into a supplement that players are taking or if there's a way to get a false positive. I doubt the suspensions will go away, but if Santana truly doesn't know how he took it, cooperating with that investigation might determine where it's coming from.
  11. Like Mike said, probably more in the 25-30 range, but I could see a peak season happening at 35. His minor league stats, while showing impatience say he can hit .300 with ease. I think he's got to be a bit more patient (not necessarily draw more walks, but let pitches go that he has no business swinging at), but if the plate discipline picks up, I could easily see him putting up a .300/.350/.520 type line cracking .900 OPS in his peak seasons. The kid has power.
  12. Not all that high. Peripherals didn't say much more than 5th starter, but in his first two starts this season, he's really taking a step forward. SSS at this point I know, but encouraging none the less. For the record, he was one of those relief arms we drafted in 2012. Lots of upset people (myself included) at that. Hopefully he vindicates the Twins.
  13. yeah, everyone knows they just get better when they get called up Meyer didn't make it out of the 4th today. I'm really curious why his walk rate skyrocketed between AA and AAA, but it's looking like more of the same and quite possibly a long stint in NY if things don't change. I'd like to believe they have him working on throwing certain pitches for strikes, but who knows.
  14. I'd say with the pen, sooner than later. They should have allowed a couple of those younger arms in the pen to begin with. Not quite sure Burdi, Reed, Jones are ready for the show, but letting Tonkin, Oliveros, and Pressley have some extended time makes a ton of sense. I think Arcia needs a few more weeks, though it should be clearly pointed out to him is that he needs to work a lot harder on the defense. His offense certainly isn't helping, but I'm far less worried about that long term than the fact that defense doesn't appear to be something he is working on. He's 23, and played some CF in rookie ball. There's no reason to think he cannot be an average defender. I'd imagine Pinto will be up shortly regardless.
  15. Honestly, I hope they target someone outside if they target someone. I'd throw a lot of money at the guy who manages the Rays and see if he'd come to a team with a bit more of a budget to work with. Heck, I think I'd take Krivisky over Antony. Haven't seen much from Rob in his test drive last spring that tells me he'd be a good fit for the job. I do think though that a 100 loss season would mean TR is retiring. Not sure on Molitor, that's hardly fair to see him gone after a season.
  16. At the rate things are going, I suspect this may be plan B. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if mid-May you see Pelf DFAd, Milone traded, Hicks called up, Arcia sent down (and I am really beginning to think this should happen b/c he shouldn't be this bad defensively), Sano, Meyer, and possibly even Berrios.
  17. So question of the day. If Hunter was in LF tracking the flyball he hit to LF, would he have caught it?
  18. Are they paying you $11/month? I think you should ask for more.
  19. No wonder you have trouble being positive. Do they at least let you out to use the bathroom? FWIW, I've spent most of the day in airports...
  20. Loading the bases with balls that either never left the infield, or barely left it, followed by a sac fly.
  21. Trevor May an early candidate for the unluckiest player out there.
