  1. Yet again, proof that no question is too insignificant, whimsical, or non intellectual to be answered? . :)
  2. I used to pitch for a team with defense like the Cubs. But the next year in the 8th grade it got a lot better!
  3. I was preparing the faithful for the inevitable. Lol
  4. I hate to bring up baseball, but Nunez at SS, and EE in LF. 3 other letters in caps come to mind. You may arrange them as you see fit! TFW
  5. If the choice becomes Pelfrey of Milone to the pen, it should be Pelfrey. Not Becasue he deserves it, just because it's a better fit. Then ride Milone till or if he blows up. And I don't even really like Milone, it's just that he is likely most effective as a starter.
  6. IF and its a big IF, Pelfrey, Milone, and May could continue there current ways, I do think he will have a negative impact. But his being gone resulted in Pelfrey moving out of the pen, where his big arm could have helped a lot. And still might. It's gonna be a fun next couple weeks!
  7. It is in a way. But I think it should be comforting to all on TD, that his legacy will live on in perpetuity. That will be a great consolation to us all!
  8. . The Zoo -- My family and I went to the Zoo Last week and as we were walking along the Zoo route, we were walking behind another family with a young boy. We got the Chimpanzee exhibit and the young boy couldn't find any. His Mom had to point out that the monkeys were kinda hiding in the tree. Then we walked up to the Elephant exhibit and the Elephant was nowhere to be seen. The Boy then asked if the Elephant was in the tree. His mom said, "No... you won't find any Elephant's hiding in the trees;" and the boy said, "They must be good at it". >>>>>>>>>>>>He sounds like a lad with a very bright future. Someday that little boy will grow up, physically at least. And that little boy will be on TD. And he will help continue a long history of inane, inappropriate comments during game threads! And when a TD'er inevitably asks "why the long face" , The Chief will answer, "He reminds me so of RiverBrian, oh how I miss him.
  9. It seems any scenario contemplated revolves around what to do with Mauer? He is the elephant in the room!
  10. You are correct! Too many DH options. But trading the best one of the bunch, IMHO, is not a good idea. Especially if he has a prayer of also being a position player. Few remember that Tony Oliva was a horrible OF when he came here. I reiterate, in a slightly different way. The Twins are notorious for investing a couple years in a prospect, then dumping him so someone else can reap the benefits. The list is long. Plouffe and Dozier likely escaped because there were no alternatives. They were so down on Dozier they attempted to turn Rosario into a second baseman!
  11. I know Arcia has defensive problems. (Likely the understatement of the post)! But I just cannot stand the thought of another player going somewhere and reading about another successful ex Twin. His numbers for his age are excellent. If he is traded it will be regretted on a David Ortiz level at a minimum. Lastly, it's purported the field staff is not happy with his attitude. They weren't happy with Hardys or Gomez, or Garza, or.... well you get the picture. Good teams adapt and adjust to personalities. I have never seen Arcias name on a police blotter or his picture in the post office. But sadly, my guess is he will get traded for some nice safe 28 yr old pitcher who had a good yr at AAA last year, and who will not cause the field staff to have to roll their eyes on occasion.
  12. I may sound like a curmudgeon, maybe age has softened me. But, I would not give up much if anything. To me it's not the winning one last game, it's about playing well, being competitive, and of course being entertaining. Seasons that run into late September with you watching other box scores to see how the Sox or Tigers did. Games 163's. Great players. If you don't it all, you don't win it all. 7 months of effort, and excitement should not be diminished by losing the last game of the year. Sure it'll suck for a few days, but think of how enjoyable getting up every morning and checking scores was all summer. as my four yr old granddaughter says "it's not all about winning"
  13. I am not sure what makes less sense.... The horse jokes, playing hockey in June, or the Mauer AB
  14. Busted! My wife does this to me all the time. I still haven't learned either!
  15. Duensing guarantees another month on the roster?
  16. I wish my 4 yr old granddaughter didn't have to go to bed so early! She loves jokes like this!
  17. I am catching up on TIVO. That was one lousy attempt at a double play. I have seen better footwork at a barn dance at 2 am!
  18. There must be like 15 or 20 Molinas catching! Why don't we have one?
  19. Maybe a MBB thread? It would have my attention!
  20. I can crack the code, but as my dad once said to my mother...... Bernadette, if I have to explain it to you, I just don't know what I am going to do!
  21. If that horse is with Hannah, "why the long face"?
