It is completely unacceptable that a major league baseball player did not know to get the out at first when the runner on second was already diving back to the base, I drilled that (situational awareness) into every JH and Babe Ruth team I coached. Lack of understanding fundamentals is an ongoing issue with this organization and needs to be addressed at every level, starting in ST and continuing through the lower level minor leagues until every player knows what to do in any given situation.

Agreed, I don't expect a move until Tuesday, if there is one.

The bunt was perfect, no chance to get the batter, Lewis did the right thing by not trying to make something happen. The next play was the groundball to second, if Lewis stretches I believe the DP is turned, he did not. The next play was the ball hit to Lewis, who then threw to second to start the DP, that they didn't get because of Lewis not getting back to first quickly enough, his feet were out of position and he dropped the ball. Agreed that he needs to work on things a little more, but he looks athletic enough there give us fans a little hope...

Buxton's slash line for the 11 games since he got hurt is .250/.327/.455 (.781 OPS) with 2 HRs (162 game pace of 29.5) and 4 RBI (162 game pace of 58.9), not going to get that production from any of the players at AAA that would have replaced him.

I don't think any team can cover 5 potential SP on the IL at one time. SWR being horrible and getting DFAd also hurts - 6 spots to fill is a lot. Not getting a suitable back-up C this past off-season is on the FO, Jeffers couldn't stay healthy forever. The BP not being addressed in the off-season was kind of a crapshoot, the FO was counting on the guys that didn't make the rotation out of ST going to the BP, it worked until it didn't - either through injury or ineffectiveness. You can also add Lewis and Wallner as difference makers, if they played at even replacement level this team would be better.

The Twins have picked #16, #39, #21 and #33 the last 3 drafts. Their last top 5 pick was Jenkins in 2023, and none of the 4 above him were going to fall to 5. They have missed on a few 1st round picks, but so has every team...
