  1. Maybe tonight's line-up can remind Mr. Sandlin that he's just a rookie making his second career start...(though he schooled the Twins last week)
  2. I don't think any team can cover 5 potential SP on the IL at one time. SWR being horrible and getting DFAd also hurts - 6 spots to fill is a lot. Not getting a suitable back-up C this past off-season is on the FO, Jeffers couldn't stay healthy forever. The BP not being addressed in the off-season was kind of a crapshoot, the FO was counting on the guys that didn't make the rotation out of ST going to the BP, it worked until it didn't - either through injury or ineffectiveness. You can also add Lewis and Wallner as difference makers, if they played at even replacement level this team would be better.
  3. The Twins have picked #16, #39, #21 and #33 the last 3 drafts. Their last top 5 pick was Jenkins in 2023, and none of the 4 above him were going to fall to 5. They have missed on a few 1st round picks, but so has every team...
  4. All the major baseball scouting experts rank him as a top 3 draft choice and his bat hasn't quieted down during the NCAA regionals. He may not be available at #3 if TB decides it doesn't want a high school SS at #2...
  5. Not how the MLB draft works,.. https://www.mlb.com/milb/news/mlb-draft-2026-bonus-pool-pick-values?t=mlb-draft-coverage
  6. The Twins think need to pick the best available player when they choose, if it's Lackey, that's who they should take. There is no such thing as too much depth; player's get hurt, traded or just don't develop as expected, it's the nature of sports. Also, remember that Morneau, Biggio, Harper and Murphy, among others, were drafted as catchers and were moved off of the position.
  7. And maybe PIT will push Skenes back a day while you're hoping...(for the Twins sake I hope not)
  8. Sounds like the first move for towards the "get-away-day" line-up on Thursday.... Possibly the second move towards the "get-away-day" line-up on Thursday
  9. Only players not on a 40-man MLB roster will be able to participate in minor-league spring training and/or games, if those get started before the big-league ones do next year.
  10. Ober (12th round) has the most bWAR (10.5) any Twins drafted player from that draft.
  11. Skubal, Crochet and Strider all were drafted in the later rounds of the 2017 draft but chose not to sign...
  12. Sandlin has thrown 12 IP across 4 starts, looks like a (probable) BP game tonight.
  13. Good catch!! It's a holiday....must've lost a few brain cells this weekend....
  14. Need one of them to start contributing pretty quick, they're down to their last 9 outs....
  15. Buxton is 6-20 with 3 doubles and 1 HR (and 1 BB and 1 HBP) since NOT going on the IL.... .300/.364/.571 (.935 OPS), he's hitting just fine.
  16. He's helping behind the plate with that ABS challenge (horrible miss by the umpire)...
  17. Not exactly text book defense by Martin, but I'll take it....
