  1. I would make damn sure I have two third basemen before I did something rash and ended up with none.
  2. All true, except I disagree about the "beating up on bad teams" part. They've played Detroit 6 times, and KC 6 times. Neither of those are bad teams, and except for the opening series, the Twins have held their own. They've played Chicago 7. Certainly the White Sox have played poorly, but they have some talent. Part of the reason their record is bad is due to the Twins. Cleveland 5 times. I didn't buy it personally, still don't, but they were SI's pick to win the WS. Seattle and Oakland 7 times. Both were picked in various places to be postseason teams this year. The Twins may be a mirage, but so far I don't think it's due to facing poor competition.
  3. Plenty of opportunities for folks to volunteer for upcoming game threads, by the way. My inbox is open.
  4. It's Grand Forks. Just HAVING an indoor bath is probably a big deal.
  5. nope, no rules violated. Everyone is welcome at T.D. even Iowegians.
  6. I was just testing my fellow posters to see who knew of this feature. You passed with flying colors. Good job!
  7. I resent this post! my integrity is not cheaply purchased.
  8. I'm sure my fellow USAF veterens will back me up when I say Im confident the world's finest air force stands ready to vigorously defend any piece of American territory that has sunny beaches, fine hotels, great golf courses and copious amounts of good rum.
  9. I'm not claiming it was Gardenhire, alone. But his quote about the clubhouse seems to me to portray a corporate attitude. I'm claiming the Twins, under Ryan, often let other factors OVERLY influence personnel decisions. Again, the article that discusses Rosario's recall seems to confirm that opinion, no?
  10. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/64705280/ Are you really going to contend that factors other than pure on field talent don't often overly influence Twins personnel decisions? For Pete's sake, the article discussing the Twins thought process in calling up Rosario hardly mentions winning games. Meanwhile, Rosario sits against a RHer last night while a utility infielder plays LF and Schafer plays CF, presumably because Molitor needed to give Rosario a day to get used to all those tall buildings beyond RF.
  11. It can't be the only thing, but performance (as reflected in the box score) has to be part of the decision process. I don't like signing Pelfrey because he's a good guy, I don't like bringing up Rosario so he can get a taste of big league room service.
  12. oh boy, I can't disagree with this statement enough.
  13. Sometimes, though, they seem to make these decisions strictly NOT on the basis of box scores. I doubt there's another organization that does the same thing here.
  14. Both. Tonight endeth Monday nights, though, till next fall. I went out in style, too.
  15. Don't blow it by tipping him off ahead of time though.
  16. W-L record and development aren't mutually exclusive.
  17. I guess I'd have the opposite reaction. To rip off a great line..."Pinch hitter for Robinson? Great move Molitor! Who's the pinch hitter?"
