  1. Kepler having quite the impact since returning
  2. I'd say the opposite. In fact, it's early to make rash judgements, but right knee soreness sounds to me like just about worst case scenario.
  3. I'm not the one complaining. I'm watching the Twins as I type. It's all you cord cutters who are complaining. Which is odd. You won.
  4. Semantics. "Paying for a set time frame for a single product." Whether that's 3 hours of a MMA event or 30 days of Twins baseball is irrelevant.
  5. Wait...what? "You're" (the generic you) not mad about not being able to watch the Twins?? You intended to torpedo the model. Be careful what you wish for.
  6. I assume the Twins will end up with something similar. At much lower revenue for the team. Many, many people will complain loudly they aren't able to watch the Twins "for free. "
  7. Pretty clearly the reason they did so is because they couldn't get the cash going streaming only. I do think it'll end up being mlb tv. With no blackout. But that model isn't going to get them $56M annually. Or even the ~$47M they got this year
  8. So...your argument is that the 4/5ths of your family that doesn't want to pay for sports on TV isn't the reason you can't watch sports on TV?
  9. Well I guess that's open to interpretation. Are you getting better value with a streaming service? You're here bitching about it. And ignoring the Twins, for a similar level of TV, are you saving any money?
  10. I think the obvious answer is mlb.tv, with local blackouts eliminated. $30/mo to watch all Twins games...except the ones on Facebook, Apple, Fox..
  11. No need to get defensive. But cable cutters are absolutely, positively, 100 percent the reason the cable/satellite model is failing. And do you not think if there was a streaming option offering to pay the Twins anything close to similar money, the Twins would have jumped at it? And then do you not think said streaming option would have simply passed that cost onto you?
  12. I think perhaps "streaming" isn't nearly the cash cow cable was. Not long ago, if you wanted good TV service, you had cable, or satellite. Viewership was concentrated on a couple options. Cable and/or satellite had enough subscribers To be able to pay a Ballys enough to make it profitable for everyone. Now, with 300,000 streaming options, nobody has the viewership level to pay a Ballys enough. Including cable/satellite. Ballys isn't producing those Twins broadcasts for free.
  13. At the heart of this issue lies ?50? percent of TD readers. Those of you who are "cable cutters" torpedoed the sports-on-cable model. You did so knowingly, and deliberately, so it's a little hypocritical to be up in arms now when the torpedoed model sinks.
  14. Ballys settled with Cleveland and Texas for 85% of their previous contract. Widely speculated by smart sources the Twins got roughly the same 85% of last year's ~$56M. This was all over TD this spring.
  15. In the meantime, for those of you in the Twins blackout area, Fubotv is an option.
  16. I'd imagine Ballys will most likely declare bankruptcy again. That's a lot of dough they're not getting. So in a sad twist, the Twins might end up not even getting the ~$47M from Ballys they settled for. I'm not really sure, but "TV contract" falls under Dave St Peter, no?
  17. Gotta go. Granddaughter is starring in a school play. As I understand it, the role of the dancing tree is subtly the key to the entire plot. Bring Home #9, ladies and germs. Try the chicken. Remember your wait staff.
  18. I just got back from a two day stay in the VA hospital. Unfortunately, I had to have surgery to remove 3 fingers from my right hand. I asked the doc today as he was clearing me for discharge if I'd still be able to use the hand on a keyboard to post on TD. "Yeah, most likely," he said. "But I wouldn't count on it."
