  1. Guess we can't just vote for Max on this one, huh?! Love Murphy, but let's go with Kepler on this one.
  2. Rosario maybe doesn't have the overall solid slash line but, I agree, he's Mr. Clutch in that he gets hits at key times.
  3. Not sure what to do with Alex Meyer right now Things seem to be getting a little stale in his two years with Marty Mason in Rochester, I'm sure they're doing everything possible to fix things, but it doesn't seem to be working. Would it be unheard of to send Meyer to extended spring training for a period of time to work with Eric Rasmussen? Concentrate on nothing but mechanics without the pressure of games. Perhaps a new voice would be helpful.
  4. Here's hoping Cederoth becomes the 4th San Diego St Aztec to play with the Twins after Graig & Jim Nettles, as well as Al Newman. I'll refrain from bringing up the name Travis Lee...
  5. How does Alex Swim's bat project at the major league level? Tearing up right now at Fort Myers. Chance to be a Chris Herrmann type utility player?
  6. And hey, it's Eddie Munster Night at Century Link Field in Fort Myers!
  7. Couple thoughts: Good to see Mitch Garver crank it up a bit. Too good of a hitter to be flirting with the Mendoza line. Thought Tyler Duffey pitched pretty well. As Eric mentioned, not much help from his defense plus a couple infield singles. That dang leadoff walk in the 1st, though. Those will always come back to bite you.
  8. Was thinking about Lee also. But he seems to be off his game right now with the Miracle. 16 hits in 11 inn, 1,82 WHIP. Maybe give him a few more starts to see if he ramps back up? Agree he was solid last year with the Miracle and should be given a look at some point in AA.
  9. Peavey seems to really be struggling with the Lookouts right now. 10+ ERA, 42 hits in 22 inn, 2.15 WHIP. I wonder if there might be a change in the rotation at some point. Maybe bring up Chih-Wei Hu or Ryan Eades from the Miracle. Possibly move Tim Shibuya from the bullpen back into a starter role. Peavey hasn't pitched in A ball since 2011 (only AA/AAA) so it probably serves no purpose to demote him to Fort Myers. Not sure what to do with him; but he's not helping Chattanooga much at this point.
  10. What?? Scott McGregor, the old Orioles southpaw, apparently is still in pro ball w/ AAA Syracuse? What's next, Mike Boddicker kicking it around this summer in the Cape Cod League?!
  11. I understand it was a cold, blustery day in Syracuse so I'll chalk up Jason Wheeler's rough outing to the elements. Since he's not an over-powering pitcher he needs good command to be successful and he obviously didn't have it in this game. There'll be better days ahead.
  12. Any buzz on a couple prep hurlers - Ashe Russell (IN) and Justin Hooper(CA)? Both have big arms and can hit 97 on the gun. I know Hooper has some control issues but Russell has three legit pitches including a change.
  13. Our "super team" in Chattanooga is off to a mediocre start. Has Dougie Baseball been given the dreaded vote of confidence yet?!
  14. Also, add in excitement for Stephen Gonsalves, Nick Gordon and Kohl Stewart. Plus some off the radar guys like Alex Wimmers, Ryan Eades and Pat Dean
  15. So, what happened to Keaton Steele? I thought he'd be with the Kernels this year after a decent short season last year in Elizabethton. Maybe in extended spring?
  16. Was wondering the same thing. Maybe he came down with an illness or something.
  17. Yeah, and it doesn't matter what I think, because the Twins are committed to Polanco at SS right now too. By mid-season there may be a glut of SS's and some decisions need to be made. Polanco will be too good with the stick, IMO.
  18. Agree. I think that Polanco has a chance to be one of the very best of this group of Twins prospects. Somewhat disappointed that the Twins would give Dozier the contract that they did, because Polanco probably profiles much better at 2B. Would hate to see him blocked here and then dealt away only to become a perennial All-Star somewhere else.
  19. While not all prospects pan out, just the sheer numbers in the Twins' farm system means that more than a handful will stick and be significant contributors both this year and the years to come.
  20. I could be wrong, but I believe that the Southern League still has a split season... a first half champion and a 2nd half champion. No doubt the Lookouts will contend for the first half title in the North Division. Second half will depend on how much upheaval there is with the roster via promotions,etc...
  21. So how far does Lewis Thorpe fall in the various prospect rankings after his TJ? Does he fall below Gonsalves? If I remember right, Kyle Gibson dropped a few notches after his UCL surgery in 2012.
  22. Other than Kuresa there doesn't seem to be a lot of power in the Kernels lineup, at least initially. Decent hitters, just not a bunch of thumpers. Need to get solid pitching and play some "small ball"; move the runners, take the extra base and timely hitting.
  23. Would love to see a best-of-seven series between the Lookouts and the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros). Arguably, the two best AA teams in MiLB. The Hooks are stocked with some of the Astros top prospects including SS Carlos Correa and P Mark Appel. The Lookouts are loaded too, as Seth detailed above. Would be a fun series.
  24. Now watch May or Meyer get called up by May 1st, rip off about 8-9 wins in a row, only to get sent back to AAA when Santana is reinstated in July. The reason: need more seasoning.
  25. Wow. We're on our 6th starter and the season hasn't even started yet. Buckle up, it's gonna be a long season.
