  1. My man Murphy!! I would have expected nothing less from Morris....
  2. Still catching up: Nice game by Berrios Good call in removing him who's listed as the emergency catcher? nice play by Mauer!
  3. I like the Just what I thought: someone out there had an in-depth analysis. To.
  4. Late to the Game Thread. What the heck did Murphy say????
  5. To be honest, I don't know if FanGraphs is still in the developmental stage. But I agree, something else is probably needed.
  6. Plouffe was doing a great job behind Mauer until he got hurt. Sano is starting to come around. So are Arcia and others. All Mauer needs to do is what he's doing right now...
  7. In reading your post, my 1st thought was: Post sober! Just kidding ....... No, Mauer will not be a catcher again. His choice. Murphy needs FAR more time behind the plate before passing too much judgement. If Suzuki is the past and Murphy the future, I don't see a question about it. A trade for Lucroy? You'd be expecting a HUGE discount from the Brewers in either trade scenario.
  8. I'm looking at Fan Graphs SD / MD ratings for the Twins. FanGraphs' prem is this: "While the Save rule is odd and complicated, Shutdowns and Meltdowns strip away these complications and answer a simple question: did a relief pitcher help or hinder his team’s chances of winning a game?" The Twins: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=0&type=3&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=8&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=15,d The formula: http://cdn.fangraphs.com/library/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/SD-MD-Flashcard-9-14-15-e1442282525119.png The scale: Rating SD MD Excellent 40 2 Great 35 4 Above Average 25 6 Average 20 8 Below Average 15 10 Poor 10 12 Awful 5 15
  9. If nothing else, this game finally got Alex Meyer some work. Can't imagine what he would have looked like in next week's start with out it.
  10. I think many of us left shortly after Hugh's 1st inning. What a crappy start. Tomorrow [today] is another day. Hope springs eternal. Yeah, that's all I got.
  11. nice AB for Mauer. fouls off a bunch of pitches, then almost takes Fulmer's head off
  12. home plate ump has a variable strike zone tonight :-)
  13. Oh wow! Milone to bullpen, Meyer starting on Tuesday. Me likey
  14. ...and Buxton's AB's and PA's are identical. How is that possible? ZERO WALKS. Pitch recognition is the problem, not whether or not he can hit minor league pitching.
  15. Jepsen: what the heck is the deal with the patting the ball in his glove DURING his delivery? I can't believe nobody stopped that years ago. My choice for closer right now would be Trevor May.
  16. For Buxton, it isn't the lack of K's or the number of hits that are important. He has done that in past MiLB seasons. It's the number of walks [i.e. pitch recognition] that are the most important.
  17. I don't jump up or down too much when it comes to Terry Ryan. He is what he is. He prefers to Build a team. The Team is what it is. Right now, a patchwork of veterans holding down the fort for what could be a nice group of MiLBers Ownership is what they are. Sons of a banker. i.e. umm, thrifty. I like a team that builds from within. IMHO, the Twins are on the cusp.
  18. Advise for the Twins catcher tonight: https://youtu.be/euHfP6X_axY?t=17
  19. Last year was a blip for Meyer and I think the Twins handled it pretty well. Keep him as a starter.
  20. Is there any other reason for Meyer to be called up, other than picking up the slack for a bullpen that was all but depleted? Short start for Milone, Meyer stretched out as a starter. .......
