  1. The Mets are cheap as well. I would be shocked if the Twins made a deal with them... Plouffe is expensive, and frankly not all that good. If you were the Mets would you trade something for Plouffe right now or wait to see how the market develops and play internal guys? Or give a marginally better prospect to get a cheaper, better player in Valencia? Not you, but others on this thread are acting like other teams don't have access to these numbers; Trevor Plouffe last 365 days .234/.285/.399 OPS .684 wRC+ 85
  2. I'm sorry if I'm not going to pat the Twins on the back for the Royals success. Bad teams trade veterans, that was nothing new when the Twins did it 20 years ago. I would like the Twins to follow the Royals plan in looking for new ways to win (Defense, contact, bullpen) and get out in front of a trend for once.
  3. The Twins are 16-37, Plouffe is below replacement level, Sano has been a disaster in RF (which everyone expected). Why isn't it ok to continue talking about Plouffe being traded? The minimal return would be an upgrade over what they could get for him today.
  4. Well the Twins don't really trade vets, at least not at the right time. And I think every team in MLB drafts.. the bad ones draft at the top. This isn't a "Twins model", its just how baseball works.
  5. Trevor Plouffe last 365 days .234/.285/.399 OPS .684 wRC+ 85 I've kind of given up complaining about the lineup, but it's amazing that him and Dozier are batting 3/4. I wouldn't even have Plouffe in the lineup vs RHP at this point.
  6. Aaron Hill, Yunel Escobar, Danny Valencia, Martin Prado, Yangervis Solarte, Internal Options >>> Trevor Plouffe
  7. The thing that bothers me most on this one was it really wasn't that hard to see coming. I argued, and many others did as well that the Twins lineup would be better without him in it (Kepler RF, Sano 3b) and that needing something good in a trade shouldn't be a necessity. Low OBP, ok power, right handed... something this lineup was in NO need of. And not to mention, he went from terrible 3rd baseman defensively, to pretty good in 2014, but has gone downhill in that regard this year and last.. he makes the plays that are at him, but his range is horrid. To answer the question, I can't see anyway he's back here next year. Non-tender or given away in July. David Wright to the DL, but there are about 5 trade candidates that would be better options for the Mets.
  8. Right, there isn't a match to be had. There's no way the Twins are giving ATL Buxton, Sano, or Kepler. And there's no way ATL would accept anything less than that. Nor should they by the way. Rosario is not a real trade piece. Neither is Arcia, Neither is Nolasco, or Hughes, or Plouffe, etc...
  9. The way Park has looked, let's not forget plenty of at bats can be found for Arcia at DH as well. I prefer Buxton + Kepler to play every single day if possible.
  10. I was just going to say, in what way are Dean and Milone similar, other than being left handed?
  11. Yeah I'm seeing he started off 8 for 47 (.170). Is 23 for 63 (.365) since the 2nd game of the DH on May 7. 8 xbh, 10 walks, 8 k's.
  12. .282/.367/.455 w/ more walks than strike outs... what exactly would qualify as anything more than "doesn't do particularly well"?
  13. The Conversation would start and end with Sano or Buxton. I doubt even Kepler would get a deal done (and I hope the Twins wouldn't be interested in that one either)
  14. We agree there, and I think most people do. Which would be why practically everyone is saying no internal candidate deserves even a shot at the top spot.
  15. It's the Autoplay video ad in the right hand corner. FWIW, I had the exact same thing happen to me (Chrome) this morning when I was trying to read an article on the Star Tribune website
  16. The team is 15-35 this year, and 363-497 since the start of 2011. They haven't won a single playoff game since 2004. If they had an internal person perfect for the President of Baseball Ops/ GM role, my question to you would be... what the hell have they been doing exactly? I mean honestly, what qualifications do they have other than "2nd, 3rd, or 4th in charge of one of the worst run franchises in the league" What makes any single person who is part of this dumpster fire a worthwhile candidate, other than they may be personally a good guy? Who do you blame for the epic dumpster fire that this franchise has turned into?
  17. He also said Jack Goin would be a solid GM candidate... There could be 100 Major League Baseball teams, Goin and Antony wouldn't have a prayer at landing a GM job anywhere but MN. Those aren't real candidates in any sense of the word.
  18. So the MiLB numbers are SSS, but the MLB numbers (spread over 3 stints) he's had thus far aren't? FWIW, Danny Santana has nearly an identical OPS as Buxton since the beginning of 2015.
  19. I would've probably kept him in Rochester for another 2-3 weeks, but I'm not going to lose sleep over the fact they did it now. The positive about this timing, is Danny Santana isn't available to Molitor to mess with Buxton's playing time. He should be starting every single day, not getting jerked around like he was the 1st 3 weeks in April
  20. Ok that's why I thought. No real qualifications
  21. What are his qualifications? He played baseball?
  22. If my option was Guillen or Molitor, I would take Guillen. But there will be other options this Fall I would probably prefer if the Twins clean house
  23. Yeah I don't see why the Mets would want him either. Sure Wright has injury concerns, but those cheap owners aren't going to pay Plouffe $5 million or whatever is left on his 2016 salary to be a David Wright insurance policy
  24. Miguel Sano isn't stuck? Jorge Polanco hasn't earned a look? Jose Berrios hasn't been largely dominant in almost 20 AAA starts? Alex Meyer doesn't deserve a shot at some point? Buxton and Kepler don't need a few months of steady playing time so you know what you have for 2017?
