  1. Yes he is out of options.. and fine by me
  2. Sounds pretty similar to what I wrote (and experienced)... the "letting go" and really throwing is where I experienced the pain.. light games of catch, even longer toss were ok Perkins said he is pain-free when he throws on flat ground, even extending back to 120 feet. Then when he gets on the mound and the catcher goes into a crouch, Perkins described the pain he feels in his shoulder as a “stabbing” sensation.
  3. Good point, same thing here. Before the 1st surgery I had 2 MRI's, neither showed much of a tear... we basically did the surgery because the Doc just assumed something was wrong in there based on the symptoms. Sure enough, clear tear once they went in. 2nd surgery, wasn't an obvious tear on the MRI either
  4. I'm not a Major League pitcher (if you hadn't guessed), but I've had 2 surgeries for a torn labrum (no rotator cuff damage found during either one), one in my early 20's and one in late 20's (I'm 32). Obviously there are giant differences between the rehab for a professional baseball player, and me.... but I would be very surprised if he ever pitched at a high level again. I bet he is back on a mound by Spring, but it is such a tricky piece of cartilage, and every time he described his symptoms I thought it sounded an awful lot like what I went through. I never had pain in day to day life, could lift weights, play golf, etc. all completely normally. When I went to throw anything overhanded, it was like a knife was being jammed into the back of my shoulder. The 2nd surgery has worked ok, I can play casual catch without pain.. but I doubt I will ever be able to "let loose" and throw a ball as hard as I can ever again.
  5. They actually had a club option for 2016 as well....
  6. I can't say this is a surprise at all, but looks like it is official. Perkins will undergo surgery on a torn labrum and miss the rest of the season.
  7. You think the Braves are sitting on money? They bought a competitive balance pick this year from Baltimore (Matusz) and bought a top 100 prospect from Arizona (Arroyo contract). And they are rumored to be in on half the top 30 international prospects. You are barking up the WRONG tree if you want to say an organization is being run wrong or cheaply
  8. If you think trading an expensive closer during a rebuild was a bad move we probably won't agree on much. So I'll just say agree to disagree
  9. The lineup is aging, some contracts will look bad... and they still for the next few years will have a Verlander-Fulmer-Zimmerman top of the rotation. If only we could struggle like that
  10. A team like Detroit almost deserves their own category. It's pretty clear they have an owner who won't be around for much longer, and forced his GM's to spend his money. Anaheim is another one that had an owner demanding to spend money
  11. That's a pretty low bar that I would say Santana and Gibson (yes, I know he's been bad in 6 starts this year) clear... I mean 4er in 6 innings is a 6 era.
  12. Terry Ryan has been in charge for almost 20 years and won exactly one 5 game playoff series 14 years ago, but thank God he never threw random ideas around on a message board. The Twins could be looking at something worse than a 20-45 record!
  13. FIFY I believe Atlanta, Milwaukee and Detroit all have brand new front offices, so its odd you think the Twins are just better by default... Atlanta's in particular has done a phenomenal job over the past year rebuilding an awful farm system... The Swanson for Shelby Miller deal might go down as one of the biggest ripoffs in 20 years
  14. Arcia being a butcher in the OF seems a bit irrelevant when discussing the DH spot. Odd that the Angels knew they could get him out anytime they wanted too, but chose not to earlier in the year when he mashed vs them in a 3 game series, including a GW home run
  15. That's really only true if you are willing to give the same weight to low minors numbers as you are upper minors numbers. Kepler blows Rosario out of the water if you look at AA+AAA Rosario hasn't cracked a .290 OBP since 2013 in New Britain
  16. I think we are saying the same thing here. I'm not trying to start a toast to Terry Ryan for making this trade, he didn't have a damn CFer ready after trading Revere and Span, and wasn't able to get one thing out of Vance Worley. Simply trying to say Revere stinks, so to call that trade a miserable failure is wrong. At worst, it's a draw (4th OFer for an avg. middle reliever)... at best, the new GM + Manager realize May could be a nice #3 or 4 starter.
  17. Its more like 1 year (2015) and 4 months (2 in 2014 + 2 in 2016), but sure they count. May's 2015 was quite a bit more valuable than Revere's 2013, 2014, or 2016.
  18. May has 4.5 more years of control, the trade results aren't over
  19. Ahhh, that would make more sense.
  20. I'm not sure I understand, you think Cubs fans are unhappy that Theo missed the playoffs 3 times, then made an NLCS and now have to cheer for a 43-19 wrecking crew that looks like a dynasty in the making?
  21. The post I replied to said the Revere trade was a "miserable failure". Sure, we need to see more from May still. But Revere has been worth something like 6 WAR in the 4.5 years since that trade, getting rid of him hardly qualifies as a miserable failure. I'll take the next 5 years of control with May
  22. I agree with everything you wrote except the Revere trade. He is not a good player and not missed. Trevor May if used correctly is far more valuable than Revere
  23. Obviously Sano has not struggled to produce, but I'm still not seeing his name in any article? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just wondering if there is a bigger write-up somewhere than I am seeing. Meanwhile, the products of a once-ballyhooed farm system have largely failed to deliver, casting player development into question. Fun times. http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/list/baseball-gm-rankings-front-office-2016-best-worst-cubs-epstein-yankees-cashman-angels/oxjvydv7a1zs1tmadzrlq2l9t/slide/3 Edit: I see what you are saying now... that is not the Sporting News, that is the Star Trib who included Sano
  24. What did they say about Sano? The Star Tribune article must've cut that part out
  25. One of those PH times was vs a lefty as well (one that was already in the game, not a move the other manager made once Arcia was announced as the hitter) He's only hit for Suzuki once. Has anyone else hit for Suzuki? I think maybe Polanco did one time.
