  1. 15 GS, 80.1 IP, 39 ER, 4.37 ERA after his July 1 start when he was demoted, if we want to be exact. Also, 3.25 FIP. 71 K's, 18 BB and an unsustainable .341 BABIP At the time, Pelfrey had a 4.14 FIP, 45 k's and 32 BB in 91 innings. But don't let me ruin your narrative.
  2. Thank you for the update
  3. Yeah. I'm not exactly saying he SHOULD be given up on. I'm just curious why people have so much conviction that you can't give up on him, have to keep the DH spot for him, etc. He's about to be 30, and looks completely over-matched. I'm not certain what is going to change
  4. You are certainly free to have that opinion, I'm just curious why you say this. Based on what?
  5. If you didn't like giving up Hu for a mediocre reliever you are never allowed to complain about lack of trades is one heck of a strawman.
  6. You listed 3 pitchers you want in the rotation instead of May and concluded that there wasn't room for him. One of which has a 5.59 ERA, which includes his 8 inning masterpiece. The rotation consists of 5 pitchers.
  7. Stretch him out. Hughes can't be counted on next year, Milone won't be around, Santana is potential trade bait. There is no risk in giving him an opportunity to start again. Bring up Chargois Release Neil Ramirez Bring up Berrios Release Boshers Make Milone the long man Find a taker in the next 2-3 weeks for Nolasco (I know this may take eating 80% of the salary, but fine) Start May
  8. I'm curious if Park didn't have a 3 year contract what people would say about him. Say he was just a near 30 year old who had hit a ton of minor league home runs getting a 1st taste in the majors. I know what I would say... he can't hit a Major League fastball, no use for him
  9. Have you seen Park by chance? Danny Santana has pinch run 3 times this year, and been a defensive replacement 0 times (because he's not good defensively of course). But sure, that's providing tons of value to the Twins... -2.8 WAR of value since 2015!
  10. It was Jon Singleton, and they gave him $10 million over 5 years... And he got ripped for accepting it, but it worked out ok for him... I would hardly say the $2 mill/ year is crippling the Astros..
  11. Probably true. But they can do a hell of a lot better than him, or Antony. They are the only organization in sports that think they have to make every hire internally
  12. In this Hypothetical you have no choice, he has to be one of the 15 protected since he has a no move clause. FWIW, the same goes for the Hockey expansion draft. I believe the Wild have no choice but to protect Parise and Suter, whether they believe the expansion team would take on their contracts or not
  13. Who is getting Danny Santana? I need to know which team has a "Danny Santana pinch running appearance" hammer to drop.
  14. Because the ownership group values familiarity above all else. I still am holding out hope the public pressure and declining attendance numbers will force them to make a change in October.
  15. Huh? You can't "pounce" on a player who is optioned to the minors. But if you could, good luck with your team that includes Boshers, Ramirez and Kintzler. That would be a force to be reckoned with!
  16. I'm using bWAR. Danny Santana -2.8 (-2.2 in 2015, -0.6 in 2016). Sandoval -1.1 (-0.9 in '15 and -0.2 in '16)
  17. Santana has the lowest WAR in all of baseball since the start of 2015. So frankly, no one has stunk more than him
  18. Buddy Boshers pitched 2 innings from June 1 through June 10. You can pretty much go through most 10-14 day sample and find a pitcher or pitchers who are rarely used. The need for 13 pitchers is a total myth. Along with Ramirez's 1 appearance in the last 10 days, Jepsen has thrown 1 inning in that time
  19. It's not team friendly if he can't hit a fastball. He has options, so they should use one
  20. Ok. So why are the playing the one that can't hit Major League pitching?
  21. Neil Ramirez has pitched once since June 17
  22. I was being sarcastic. No one is trading for Hughes, and Milwaukee wouldn't spend half a second considering the deal laid out above for Lucroy
  23. There has been a lot of efforts to make Danny Santana sound useful. "Pinch runner" "25th man that can sit on the bench" "Backup to many positions" "Defensive replacement". I don't see one of these as holding the tiniest bit of credibility. Even if you aren't an Arcia fan, and were fine with the DFA.. its ok to just admit Danny Santana stinks.
  24. I have to admit, until Arcia was DFA'd I had no idea how many people valued a bench spot for a pinch runner (a guy who can't really even steal bases, but is fairly fast) and the need for a 13th pitcher (Ramirez has pitched once in 10 days). * *On a team that is 24-51
  25. So in your scenario Grossman is the 4th OFer, Santana is the 5th. Rosario - Buxton - Kepler 1) Who is Santana pinch running for (how many times has he been used this way?)? 2) Who is he the defensive replacement for, because he is a far worse option than any of your 3 starting OFers 3) He hasn't played SS or 2B this year. Why do you think he is needed to back those up? Isn't Grossman backing up the OF? 4) Who is the DH? That is the position Arcia could've / should've been used at
