  1. I know its a lot of pages to read through, but I think there is universal agreement on this. No one is arguing he is a perfect player, or a lock to have a successful big league career. The argument is pretty much solely focused on roster management, playing time, opportunity, etc.
  2. Arcia was 21 years when he debuted in 2013.
  3. Imagine Drew Butera getting everyday starts in LF, CF, SS. That's basically where we're at with Santana Butera Career - .192/.249/.283 DanSan since start of '15- .225/.257/.307
  4. I'm not "liking: your post because it makes me upset, though I agree what you wrote is true.
  5. Whether Nunez is traded or not, I don't want to see DanSan playing. A Nunez trade would hopefully only open up playing time for Polanco
  6. My fault, I just saw him in the lineup over Buxton and assumed it was in CF. My comment still stands. Its absolutely absurd the playing time being given to him at the expense of real players
  7. Danny Santana starting in CF. This is becoming laughable how they treat him compared to other players.
  8. It's not going to be exercised. The discussion is whether he will / should receive a contract extension or be traded
  9. I was really just commenting on his stats for the past month being luck driven. I threw in the Terry Ryan comment only because this EXACT scenario played out in 2014, so I do think it is relevant to the conversation about "What to do, what will happen" with Suzuki. We talk about hypothetical trades and signings on here all day
  10. I'm sorry but this really isn't based on any sort of facts. He is not above avg offensively or defensively, and it's not really close. MLB 3rd baseman on average this season are hitting .267/.336/.451 Trevor Plouffe; This year - .252/.283/.399. Last calendar year (july 1 '15 to July 1 '16): .243/.293/.416 Last season: .244/.307/.435 2014: .258/.328/.423
  11. A hot month buoyed by a .417 BABIP since May 31. The worst thing that can happen to the future of the Twins with Terry Ryan in charge, as an extension is probably likely at this point
  12. It matters because sometimes rookies struggle in a tiny sample size and figure it out. I never said they were the same. Maybe 30% of flyballs hit off Berrios would've continued to leave the ballpark (but probably not), maybe his BB/9 would've stayed over 7 (but probably not), maybe his BABIP against would've remained over .400 (but probably not)... And guess what, whether those numbers remained the same or not, the Twins would not be playing any form of meaningful baseball from June through September
  13. "No way" a 10-31 team could justify giving a rookie who had dominated AAA in ~20 starts another start in the Majors? LOL. Michael Fulmer had a ~6.5 ERA through 4 starts for a team with real playoff hopes, they were able to justify him getting more starts, I'd say it worked out ok for them
  14. He played SS/3B his entire career, he had never played OF. That is why people were confused about throwing him into RF. I'm not sure your example of a misplay means a whole lot to be honest. He will misplay some balls, all ML 3rd baseman do. He's been pretty decent over there for now, and I don't think anyone believes it is his long term position, but its where he likely will and should play the majority of the time the next couple of seasons.
  15. Yeah, probably can include August as well. The schedule does not do them any favors either. The only non-division home opponents in August and September are the Astros on a Monday-Thursday, and the Mariners on a weekend in late September.
  16. I was at the game yesterday, and shocked at how few people were in the seats. That place is going to be EMPTY come September. They announced it at 23,000, I would guess more like 18-20k in the seats.
  17. This. I don't see why anyone is advocating throwing in a Polanco with Nolasco. The only reason to do that is you want to save the Pohlad's some money. Nolasco can be DFA'd and you don't need to trade Polanco to do that, the Pohlad's just have to pony up some money
  18. Plouffe is going to be a non-tender this offseason, he won't have trade value then. A salary dump now is probably best for all parties
  19. Trevor Plouffe is not good defensively anymore. He grades out by most metrics as one of the bottom 3 or 5 3rd baseman in baseball. The eye test confirms. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=3b&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=400&type=1&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=24,d
  20. I know this is an anonymous message board, but I am NOT Terry Ryan nor am I Paul Molitor, so unfortunately I can't "put May in the rotation". As for my post, I was replying to someone who said his "command and stuff as a starter was suspect" with stats that totally refuted that. I was not making a prediction on his BB rate should he be allowed to start again. As for "his walks being way down at the beginning of last year... that was unlikely to continue.. and didn't." Also, simply not true. 9 walks in 1st 30 innings as a Starter, 10 in next 40 innings as a starter.
  21. May had a 2.02 BB/9 rate as a starter last year. Compared to the 2016 staff, that is lower than; Santana, Berrios, Dean, Gibson, Milone, Hughes. It is very slightly higher than Nolasco and Duffey As for "stuff". He had a 7.95 K/9 rate. That is higher than any of those Twins starters but Berrios, who is in AAA. It was 2nd on the team behind Duffey last year
  22. Someone is calling Kohl Stewart a "non-prospect"? Time for me to exit this thread.
  23. This is an Insider Article, but I thought this was a good thread to post it on. http://espn.go.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/16619574/chicago-cubs-los-angeles-dodgers-top-mlb-future-power-rankings "Future Power Rankings" Based off of; Current Team (25%), Future Team (45%), Financial Support (20%), Front Office (10%) Twins Ranked 16th overall; 26th of 30 in Current Team 4th of 30 in Future 22 of 30 in Financial Support and... DEAD LAST in Front Office. But outside of assembling prospects, the team has been a disaster. Whether it's been signing pointless free-agent contracts (Ricky Nolasco, Ervin Santana, Torii Hunter), getting over-excited about good months (hello Kurt Suzuki contract), or using their top prospects without any firm plan or patience (Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton), the Twins have done as much to stand in the way of their future as they can short of trading away the entire farm for magic beans.
  24. Well the 3 year contract he signed before the 2014 season is set to expire at the end of this season, so at least the Twins aren't on the hook for anything. Oh wait....
