  1. Interesting, I show the Twins record when Sano makes an error at 3rd base as 6-3. In one of those 3 losses, no one scored the inning the error was made.
  2. I think you're both right. I saw the same stat Mike did. It was something along the lines of "The Cubs have only lost 1 game they led after 7 innings. In one of the two losses where Rondon blew a save, they weren't technically leading after the 7th or 8th, they took the lead in the 9th, blew save, then lost in extras.
  3. I think it's fair to say Nunez's value is the same today as it was 3 weeks ago. Major League Baseball scouts and talent evaluators don't base their reports based off a hot month or two. My guess is even All Star Eduardo Nunez was viewed around the league as a utility guy who doesn't play any position that well, the same they probably see him as today
  4. What do you consider MN's position... the pre-season "this team's goal is to win the division", when the trade was actually made by the GM who said this.... or the July 25th reality.
  5. Absolutely I would. And I am not at all advocating the Pohlad's sell prospects to line their pocket books, but I don't consider ABW a prospect
  6. Well, they only won 3 of the 1st 18 games he appeared in... so probably not much worse
  7. I was not a Terry Ryan guy in the least, but have no problem admitting he did make the occasional move that worked out better than expected. However, these are some odd examples. If he believed in Abad so much, why didn't he get a Major League contract, he wasn't concerned another team would swoop in with one? Boshers is a dime a dozen and has pitched a whopping 16 innings. I'm also not ready to anoint Kintzler as some bullpen savior.
  8. Jaylin Davis is 4 years older than him, and had a 22/4 K/BB rate in Elizabethton. Odd comparison
  9. Agree 100%. I think Plouffe found a home at 3rd base, and worked hard to become a so so defender there. This was such a 180 from what he had done previously in his career, at SS, OF, etc. that it in turn caused people overrate his defense.
  10. I'll agree he has regressed, but I think that started last year is all I'm saying. His range has always been horrible going to his right, and this year it was severely diminished moving to his left as well. He makes plays that are hit at him generally, I don't think he is a terrible 3rd baseman defensively. I think he has well below average range, maybe that would've been a better way to put it.
  11. 12 of 20 qualified 3rd baseman in defensive runs saved and UZR. Also, my comment was in regards to teams trading for him before 2016 and what they thought. Ie; projecting his defense going forward, they wouldn't have been trading for his 2013-2015 defense
  12. Thank you. After how this season played out, I can't believe people are still arguing this notion you just had to keep Plouffe. You know why there was no market for him, because anyone outside of MN probably saw him as a below avg fielder, who doesn't get on base and has so so pop.
  13. There was no market, but the team was better off without another low obp right handed hitter that forced Sano to RF. The results speak for themselves. Who cares about getting value for him when you're a better team without. This isn't hindsight either, i said the same thing in Feb and have been proven right
  14. Except the whole thing with the team being better with Kepler in RF and Sano at 3B than Plouffe at 3b and Sano in RF....
  15. His career FIP is 3.84 and his career era is 4.57 His 2016 FIP is 4.16 and his 2016 era is 5.02 Looks about right to me, He's always had a low walk rate
  16. What peripherals? This is the pitcher he is. His K/9 is down, walks very slightly down, hr rate slightly up. His babip is basically precisely in line with his career marks. This just who he is, a crappy pitcher who usually has a FIP well below his ERA
  17. I don't believe there's any chance someone takes on Nolasco's salary, even in a straight salary dump. Maybe if the Twins picked up half the contract they could give him away. I think Santana has value if the Twins pick up half of his salary, potentially for a good prospect or two. Without offering to pick up any salary, I think his value is limited. Why would the Dodgers want to lock themselves into 2 more years of Erv in the rotation when they have a full rotation next year and beyond, and limitless resources (both prospects and cash)
  18. Job security, low pressure environment... and you can look ahead to say 2019 when Mauer, Santana, Nolasco's contracts will all be off the books. Guys who could potentially be All Stars by then just entering arbitration (Buxton, Sano, Kepler), Young cost controlled pitchers (Berrios, Stewart, Jay, Gonsalves, etc), Nick Gordon, Jorge Polanco, etc. It's not a bad job. As much as I dislike Jim Pohlad, and found his Molitor comments moronic, he does stay out of the way and leave baseball to the baseball people.
  19. I would say you're being set-up to have a position for life with even a tad bit of success, not a bad situation.
  20. I'm not sure where you got 6th from. Nats, Cubs, Mets, Dodgers, Indians, Giants, Blue Jays, Astros, Cards, Marlins, Mariners all have Team ERA's under 4. After last night if your Innings/Runs we're correct, the active team now has a 4.40 ERA (adding in 13runs in 8 innings), good for a tie for 21st in the league...
  21. The Twins and White Sox haven't competed with each other for 6+ seasons, I'm really not concerned with them in the least.
  22. Yeah I don't get why they would want to crawl out of the cellar at this point. I'm more than fine rooting for losses, with good performances from Buxton, Kepler, Sano, etc.
  23. Sure, I thought it was fairly obvious I was being facetious when I suggested having no Marketing or Ops Manager. My issue with St. Peter is people acting like he is doing a good job because new food gets introduced and they have interesting promotions. He is the President, the Owner just said whoever comes in will work under him, and that he will have a large part in picking the new GM. Totally unqualified for that by everything I can tell, and he is O for 2 with 2 big strikeouts picking GM's thus far...
  24. Ok. Thanks for the response and feedback
  25. He said at the end of the day what matters is what happens on the field. And frankly I agree. I am genuinely wondering why we are giving St. Peter credit for his ballpark food and promotions when people aren't coming to the game, and the "brand" has been pretty heavily tarnished. Was St. Peter not responsible for Bill Smith being hired and the 2nd Terry Ryan stint? Can we criticize him for that?
