  1. How about Buxton not running after the lead off walk in the seventh? Molitor or Buxton to blame? Hindsight and 20/20, yadda yadda yadda..., but it seemed like a huge opportunity lost at the time.
  2. I remind everyone of Dozier's season start last year. He was officially done as a viable ML hitter if i remember right. it's a wee bit early to call Buxton's season over.
  3. Been awhile since I got Rickrolled. Even had the darn puzzle figured out...
  4. Seriously. Is this not the absolute best possible scenario to let your struggling 22 year old future center fielder play everyday for the big club? What exactly do we have to lose at this point of this season?
  5. Sano will NEVER EVER NEVER be able to play an even average third base..... /HEAVY sarcasm intended.
  6. Let's call it the reverse "Dozier effect" this season. Many, including yours truly, had Brian being DONE a few weeks ago. Now it looks like he could go up to the plate blindfolded and swinging a broomstick and still hit one out. Long season.... ebbs and flows...oscillations....reversions to the mean...etc. Hopefully Joe has a few more hot streaks later this year. And when he does, hopefully they last for a while.
  7. In reality, don't we have 3 younger guys in the system with just as much upside (and just as many questions), who will need to be evaluated over the next few years? We can't have 4 DHs in the line up. I guess the issue is did we get appropriate value for him... but it doesn't bother me that we are making some decisions about who will be our eventual all or nothing type DH player. This all assumes we can get Sano to stick at third, otherwise they will all probably have to go eventually. ABW Vargas Palka
  8. Looked like Plouffe had roots in yesterday's game. Not saying Sano makes every play, but he can certainly be as good or better than Plouffe was yesterday.
  9. In our fantasy league we called it the "bounceback W".... Loathed by opponents.
  10. Agreed with all of the above. What I don't understand is all the chatter about how "Sano could never be a viable option at third" that popped up this offseason/spring. My eye test says he could be more than adequate (or at least decent) for some period of time.
  11. Either use him or get his butt back to AAA to continue working on his craft. Sitting on the bench behind all the current "shut down" relievers we are employing is making me question Molitor's sanity. Starting or relieving.... let him do something!!!
  12. I'm gonna go with Meyers back down.
  13. Any chance that Meyer gets a start in the next couple of days? It's the only other thing I could think of that made any sense other than the "Molitor hates young guys and/or TR" theory.
  14. Ditto, and when I did watch it I thought.... O'Rourke being careful with the righty, specifically to face the left handed pitcher instead. And then......WHAT??????????? Kid pitched his guts out. sad to see it end the way it did.
  15. OK, I'll buy your premise to a point, BUT if you are saying our baseline performance has now been defined after 7 games (.000 win percentage), and in general the team was expected to perform at about a .500 wp... your baseline is basically garbage, because no one in their right mind could expect them to end up closer to their newly defined baseline wp than their preseason expected win percent. (.250 being the midpoint and .375 being absolutely worst case scenario... i hope).
  16. Mike - The players that are most responsible for the seasons 0-7 start ARE young and/or have very little MLB experience. Our old starting pitching staff has little to do with our 7 losses. Half of our old infield is hitting the ball just fine. RP... well maybe I'll have to concede a little there.
  17. ASH - So by this logic are you saying that if we had started the season 3-4, that that set of games is somehow different than any other seven game 3-4 stretch during the season???
  18. In the games I've watched, the starting pitching hasn't been the reason we've been losing. In the games I haven't watched, the box score tells me that..... starting pitching hasn't been the reason we've been losing. What I have seen, is that our young (or MLB inexperienced) players are having a hard time putting the bat on the ball (along with some veterans), coupled with a leaky late inning pen. Specifically in my original post I was commenting (age-wise) on the offensive side of the ball.
  19. I don't think it's mind boggling at all. He's been up for 2 games and appeared in 1. Like the most annoying quarterback on this planet (and maybe some alien planets as well ;-), said... r e l a x. Everybody take a deep breath. Young team - uneven results... it's going to be a theme that people need get used to. Or you could go nuts I guess. I love baseball, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over a rough start to the season. Let's see how things shake out after a few weeks.
  20. Who would you like him to replace if everyone else plays to their potential? Plouffe trade. Sano to third.
  21. If and/or when TR gets what he deems to be fair (or close to fair) value for Plouffe, I believe we will see the former. Just a matter of time.
  22. Plouffe WILL be traded. Sano WILL play 3rd (as good or better than Plouffe does within a couple of years). This will happen sometime between tomorrow at the earliest and the trading deadline at the latest,
