  1. Prepare for the Manny experience in the 9th inning, maybe this will be the day for a hit when pinch hitting.
  2. Great at bat Willi, but don't worry you will be in the lineup every day.
  3. You have to be a switch hitter to play every day for the Twins.
  4. This game is a perfect example of why it is hard to get excited about this team. They can not play the better teams because they are not fundamentally sound. They do no situationally hitting, so runners keep getting stranded. Cleveland just puts the bat on the ball when needed. Castro almost ran us out of an inning. These mistakes can be overcome against the weaker teams not against the better teams. They need to change their hitting philosophy but it won't happen as long as Falvey is in charge.
  5. Over 70 plate appearances spread out over 3 years, you are going to declare he can't become close to average against LH pitching. I am not saying he can definitely be serviceable against LH pitching but you can't just declare that all LH hitters will never hit LH pitching without giving them a reasonable chance. And that is exactly what the Twins are doing, they are declaring no LH hitter can hit LH pitching. Will they do the same with Rodriquez and Jenkins, we will find out.
  6. Richardson pitched great, hopefully he can continue this thru September.
  7. On an everyday basis, quit being obsessed with who is pitching and what arm they throw with.
  8. Why does Santana have to be in there every day, he has had one outstanding month. Bring him in for defense at the end of the game. But Lewis and Miranda will give us more offense on a consistent basis against RH pitching.
  9. Actually our top three top outfield options are Buxton, Kepler and Wallner and they should be starting regardless of who is on the mound on a regular basis.
  10. Certain lefty starters, not every one you give them a day off. Give your every day players an occasional day off and let them play the whole game. This obsession with lefty pitching is getting over the top. You can't play for every match up that is why you play your best players and Margot is not one of them.
  11. Only if they are used correctly. Margot should be playing once or twice a week, Wallner should be playing every day.
  12. Or maybe the better teams are having success because they are playing their best players and don't have to platoon. Because over the course of a season you will have more favorable results by playing your best players every day despite any shortcomings they may have. Milwaukee has the third best record in the NL so maybe their depth is not as lacking as you may think.
  13. Not all good teams use the platoon system like the Twins. Baltimore lets their young LH hitters play every day and don't pinch hit for them, Milwaukee has two good young LH hitters and they play every day and no Milwaukee didn't pinch hit for Frelick when we brought in a LH pitcher. We are also second in pinch hitting appearances because of the insistence of not letting Wallner or Larnach hit LH pitching. That is not what the good teams do, yes there is more platooning today but not at the extremes the Twins do. And carrying a player who can only do one thing, hit LH pitching at a little over league average is not good roster management. You can't match up every at bat like they try to do. You need to play your best players and let them play. The results over the season will be more successful.
  14. I am not sure I would call an OPS of .728 against LH pitching as crushing,. Wallner needs to play everyday for the benefit of now and next year. Playing Margot is a push at best for this year and is a negative for next year as he won't be here, play Wallner every day.
  15. So glad Santana is in the lineup to hit into two double plays. If only there was another option, oh wait what about Miranda.
  16. Margot, true to form, double play ball. Glad he has played 5 games in a row.
  17. Buxton just had four days off, this isn't being cautious. If he can't play put him on the IL. We need him in the lineup and the organization is not going to win anything significant if they don't play their best players.
  18. Did you see his double in the first game, if he was hurt like you say, he would not have even tried to get to second much less make it. This is Rocco overmanaging his players. You need to play your best players especially in these next two series but that won't happen with this hapless organization.
  19. Miranda needs to be in the lineup everyday. Santana can be a defensive replacement. Yes I know he hit a home run today. Look at his monthly splits, he has had one good month and a good day here and there. Not enough to block Miranda.
  20. Because he has been barely league average on defense starting last year.
  21. This love affair with Margot is inexplicable, and don't say he hit so he could stay in the game for defense. Larnach and Wallner are not that inferior to him on defense.
  22. Thank you for the clarification. I am sure the front office would want an extra pitcher up especially with the injuries now.
  23. Is Lee hurt, only have heard from Rocco. Rocco also said Buxton was hurt but would 100% play on Friday and Buxton himself said on Sunday he would be in the lineup on Monday night. And you can only call up one position in September, this isn't the old days where you can call everyone up on the 40 man roster. Edit: Just been reported Lee is headed to the IL, I stand corrected.
  24. It's really not that tough of a decision when you have a player that has not earned his spot on the roster.
  25. Everybody commenting on September callups, remember you can only go to 28 players, so only two additional players can be added. And I believe one has to be a pitcher. So September is not going to solve any supposed roster crunch.
