  1. This is only a trending plan by the Twins. Yes there are fewer 7 and 8 inning starts but winning teams are not using bullpen games as a strategy to win games. We have seen the results of this plan after only two weeks in last nights game. Imagine what it would be like thru the course of a season. You need length from your pitchers, that has always been and will be true. Those saying this is a trend or want piggybacking are just trying to justify Falvey's actions.
  2. I don't disagree but Rocco is going to be using every available arm in the bullpen and I am guessing they will want one more. And they did just sign another castoff so I am sure he will be up soon as well.
  3. So you give Judge an intentional walk to first to set up a lefty lefty matchup but don't bring in Funderburke. But now bring him in to face Stanton. Is Rocco even awake anymore.
  4. Rocco's new strategy is get behind by 8 runs so he can bring in Clemens.
  5. They can only bring up two additional players and one is usually a pitcher.
  6. Now they are just abusing Hatch, I am guessing he will be DFA'd after the game. All these bullpen games are catching up to them. I am sure glad they know what they are doing.
  7. For everyone who thinks we should piggyback certain pitchers together, I hope you see how these games are showing why it doesn't work. You can't just say a pitcher is going to go so many innings. And of course this is all the Twins are developing.
  8. Hey remember our front office is the smartest in the league and they are going to completely change how pitchers are developed. Of course we are still going to lose 80 to 100 games but remember it is not about results but about the process.
  9. Gasper can not throw, what are we doing putting him back there. Boston gives up on him as a catcher but hey our coaching is world class and they are going to make him an All Star catcher.
  10. The bottom third of the lineup is one black hole.
  11. Can we please be done with Gasper, you could find a better replacement at the Town Ball state tournament.
  12. I agree Clemens should be brought back as only a bench player, give 250 AB's, that is where he brings the most value on a winning team. There seems to be a theme about many of the players they traded for or signed. They all have flaws that apparently only the Twins can fix. I get taking a shot on someone here and there but the arrogance of this front office thinking they are this supreme organization when it comes to fixing players is not grounded in reality. I would love to see them actually bring someone in that can successfully contribute immediately.
  13. Now Rocco has fallen in love with Fitzgerald, just like Gasper last week. Play the guys that a chance to be here next year. Wallner or Larnach need to be in the lineup, you have to have LH bats anyway. There are plenty ways they could be in the lineup. I don't mind giving Lee the day off but why play Fitzgerald three days in a row. This organization isn't serious about winning or doing the things needed to win, like develop your younger players. After they gave up on the season by trading away half of the bullpen, they still don't show any direction.
  14. Hey the Mick will draw a walk about every 5 plate appearances, so it is not all whiffs.
  15. It is not prejudice when no team has seen enough of a player to even give him a shot. He was actually going to play in Mexico this year until the Twins offered the minor league deal. So not I am not going to give him a starting job, his history suggests otherwise. Lee was a top draft pick and still only 24, Give him run this year and see what you have, that is the proper management of the roster with the players available.
  16. You are going anoint a 31 year old career minor leaguer with 7 ML AB's as your starting SS. They have no reasonable path to getting to the playoffs much less any noise if they pulled off the miracle. So you need to find out what you have and don't have so you can fill the holes in the offseason. Yes Lee has had his moments where he has not looked good. He has barely 600 AB's and never played the same position for any length of time. Give him regular playing time at the same position and see what he does.
  17. Lee is the SS until the end of the season. This is a team that now needs to find out what they have in certain players. One of them is Julien, the only position that should be open to him is 1B. I am down on Julien but he at least has done something in the past. They played Gasper 3 games in a row this weekend, what has he done to warrant that playing time. Fitzgerald is not part of the future, play him a few games but you really need to find out what you have in the young guys.
  18. A few thoughts from the article and comments. I do not get the complete teardown of Lewis by so many. I know he finished last year in a horrible slump. But he has been hitting better since coming off the recent IL trip. Yes he had a rough week but every player does. He looks better and more comfortable at 3B as well. We need him to regain his mojo because we need core players and he can be one. And yes he has to adjust to the outside pitch, which he has done in the past. I like Clemens but I do not think he is an every day player. You really want him to be the everyday first baseman, can we set the bar a little higher. I want him back to play 3 or 4 days a week and to come off the bench. He seems to have a knack for making the right play and you need bench players to do that. And in the right lineup he should be hitting in the bottom third but that is where we are right now. If I remember correctly the Mets used the same medical reports from the same doctors as the Giants used for Correa. So I am not sure he necessarily failed multiple medicals when the same one was used for two of the disqualifications. There are players already in the major leagues from Culpepper's draft class. If he is ready or his learning curve will be better utilized up here then get him up here next year and have patience. There is no reason Bradley especially and Abel should not be up here. We traded controllable players for them and we should be getting production from them now, My final rant, get Mickey off this roster, it is almost becoming embarrassing. We know what he can offer and that is drawing the infrequent walk.
  19. Please send Gasper down after the game.
  20. Will Rocco bunt the runner over when he needs only one run?
  21. And Jimenez could at least play defense.
  22. True, but there is other options then Gasper.
  23. He is seriously not going to let Gasper hit this inning is he?
  24. Rocco once again trying to show he is the smartest manager in baseball.
