    Funderburk would be the most likely candidate at this point, he still makes me nervous when he pitches. I am hoping they have found something in Anderson, it is still a SSS but he looks like he can contribute. Pickups like Anderson and Gomez are the ones I wish they would target, younger and maybe got caught up in the options roulette without getting a real chance. These 30 somethings that are out of gas, we can pass on.

    The pitch was in the strike zone on the outside corner, it was good to see him go with the pitch and hit it to right center.

    That was a great win last night. I was at the game and it was fun to see the many Royals fans go home unhappy. Lewis needs to be in there everyday. He is definitely taking better AB's, pitchers are trying to get him to chase that low outside pitch and for the most part he is not chasing. Eventually they are going to have start pitching him more. I was glad to see him get the hit in the ninth inning. He feeds off good vibes and hopefully helps him hit another gear. If they want Caratini's bat in the lineup, it can't be at the expense of Lewis. Bell has been coming back to earth, sit him more if needed. The play on Perez's single that scored their second run by Roden was not good. He took a poor route and did not aggressively go after it with Keaschall coming in behind. Not sure he could have gotten to it, but the effort did not look good. Lewis really picked up Kreidler. That at bat by Kreidler was brutal, he saw one strike and was swinging at everything and the pitches were at his ankles. They have to make a decision on Buxton, I know they want him in there, but they can't keep playing short handed. Call up Jenkins, now is the perfect time and maybe he might just add a needed spark to the lineup.

    Why would you sit Culpepper or Jenkins, who is blocking them. Kreidler should not be starting over Culpepper if he is up here. And if Buxton is put on the IL and Jenkins is called up, you have an open spot in the outfield. The only reason they would sit would be mismanagement by Shelton. Now if they want to see how the roster shakes out before the trade deadline before adding anyone to the 40 man roster I get it. But they could easily DFA Fedko, they have already determined he is organizational filler and could be moved if a 40 man spot is needed.

    What is the long term vision for this team. If you want to fill in around the edges to help this year's team, primarily with relief pitchers, fine. But to make a real impact on this year, you probably need two relievers, a starting pitcher and a true middle of the order bat to replace Bell. What do you have to give up to get all that, I am guessing more than most would want. Start with figuring out where you want players to play and let them play there. Bring up Culpepper and Jenkins, they can help this year and it helps for the future. At some point, you have to get production from your top prospects, you can't miss on them all. Figure out where the holes are and fill with quality players next year. There should be no more relying on AAAA and past their prime types. Clear some outfielders from the 40 man, Wallner needs to be one to go, regardless of what you get for him. The Twins have lost faith in him, give the AB's to someone with a potential future with the organization. My biggest concern is, this is asking a lot of someone with no experience in the top chair and is Zoll up to it.

    I am not sure what the fascination is with Caratini. Either play Lewis or trade him, this bouncing everyone around is what makes us a .500 team. Then trying to force at bats for Caratini.

    Jackson has played one game at 1B, you really think this combination is better than Lewis. I get you don't believe in Lewis but at least propose a viable alternative. We haven't had a regular first baseman since Mauer and now it appears that he is figuring things out at the plate and is looking comfortable on defense and could solidify this position. We want to go back to no first baseman again.

    He's hitting .150 in July that is more than falling off a bit, that is a crater at the plate.

    They would not make Kreidler the shortstop until Gray became so bad they couldn't keep running him out there. Twice they had the opportunity to keep Kreidler over Gray and they chose not to. I wouldn't give them much credit for that. Clemens and Roden were brought in last year. And Roden has yet to show anything consistently, he has had a couple of nice games with key hits. But he is still hitting under .200 in 200 plate appearances in his stints with us and Toronto. Just because we traded for him doesn't make him a starter. Remember they also traded for Outman and how did that work out.

    Do you mean Zoll, he should be the one proposing the trades. Tom P. can say yes or no to adding payroll but I am guessing he would be willing if it is reasonable based on his words.

    We don't want to pay for Joe Ryan in his mid to late thirties, but we are willing for Castillo. Someone please explain that logic to me.

    Yes it is a fact he reported to Falvey. But Falvey didn't make the moves by himself, Zoll was his top assistant and advised him. How many times do you think Falvey said to him, get out of my office that was a dumb idea. Falvey was at the top laying out the vision and Zoll implemented that vision because he believed in it. He worked for Falvey for almost 10 years, he believed in what his vision was. How many times have you worked in a job and didn't believe in the way your boss wanted things done and stuck around anyway. And my guess at Zoll's level salary is not an issue like it might be for others.

    Maybe start giving more length to Rozek and Gallagher in St. Paul, quit holding them to 4 innings and 70 pitchers. Until they get rid of the bulk pitcher nonsense we are going to have issues with depth when injuries occur like this year. And I am not saying Gallagher is ready to be up hear but sometimes you have to prepare.

    He has had a 160 AB's vs. 300 to 400 for the other players mentioned. And his OPS has dropped over 100 points in the month of July when he has been playing every day.

    That is understandable. But we don't have a major league talent in front of him, I am sorry I don't see Kreidler as a starting shortstop except as a stopgap. Culpepper was drafted in the 1st round in 2024 and is a top 50 rated prospect, he is nowhere near what Fedko and McCusker were. Not every 1st rounder makes it, but the reports I am seeing say he is close and this team could use a boost. This is why you draft a Culpepper. They are not going to be able sign quality starters at every position, they need to develop talent to fill this roster.

    One of the catchers, he needs at least another week so after the deadline one of the catchers should be gone. Culpepper has a lot more upside and I want to start his learning curve now as that will be more beneficial this year and the future for the team. Kreidler should not be the reason you hold him back.

    You can appreciate the contributions that Kreidler has made but still have questions about his long term fit, they are not mutally exclusive. There are a lot of numbers being put out there that are trying to predict what he can become. But we have history, he's had one career month in June and in July when he started playing regularly and he reverted back to his career norms. Currently he is our best option to play shortstop, but Culpepper needs to be up in the next 10 days and put there every day. Kreidler can be the utility guy for this year, but I would like some competition for next year with somebody who can hit more consistently. He wasn't even the first option for this team, they kept Gray over him twice until his defense became unplayable. We get excited when a player does well and then try to project that they are the next big thing. There were plenty people on here saying Gray was the answer when he hit the grand slams. Or Arcia was the answer when he had a couple of key hits. That is what bench players do, they contribute when called upon. But it doesn't mean they can do it consistently to earn the right to play on a daily basis. I love when these types of players come thru, but I try and keep expectations reasonable as to what expect going forward.

    My point was to move outfielders, but you are correct there are plenty of ways to add to the 40 man roster.

    Jackson has played 1 game at 1B, that's a bit of stretch to say he can play just because he can stand there. Carrying three catchers after the deadline would be foolish and just makes the roster short one again.
