    Once checks start getting missed from either tv revenue or players checks, they will get serious about a settlement at the latest. Hopefully it doesn't take that long to figure it out.

    But I have been told multiple times this week that Jenkins and Culpepper will not be called up for this exact reason and to think otherwise is foolish.

    There will be a lockout, but will it affect games, no one knows.

    I am amazed that the A's called up Tommy White. Now he will have to sit out next spring if there is a lockout. They do not know what they are doing.

    But they didn't clean house off the field. Only Falvey is gone, his top lieutenant is now in charge with the same staff advising and assisting him that was there for Falvey. We have some improvements on the field with Shelton but he can still only play who he is given.

    Falvey didn't manage the resources given to him well. He invested nothing in the bullpen this offseason when he had some payroll available to do so. Yes the payroll cuts two years were poorly executed but how can Milwaukee have the best record in the major leagues with a below average payroll. Falvey deserves plenty of blame for this poorly constructed roster as well.

    Hey there were some on this board that thought back in June that he would be a good trade chip at the deadline. I am not sure how that take aged.

    The Twins know what they have in Wallner and so does the rest of the league. A month or two up here I don't think will change that. And the Twins had the chance to bring him back up and chose not to do that. I personally like him but I think he needs a change of scenery to see if he can get back on track. There are others at this point that will need AB's more than Wallner.

    It was reported earlier this week that he was starting to do baseball activity. So I don't think he is out for the season, but I didn't hear a timeline.

    We have 12 outfielders between St. Paul and Minneapolis, some need to go. I like Wallner but at this point and at his age I think his best shot is with another organization. Either give him away or release him at the end of the year.

    Your original post said you were calling him up in September. Even with trades that may happen, I think the Twins have moved on from him and I would not call him up if he's still here.

    The rosters only expand to 28 in September, that means 1 pitcher and 1 position player as there are still limits on number of pitchers you can carry. He is not moving to 1B if they haven't done it by now, it's not going to happen at least with the Twins. They are giving time there to Gabby and Mendez in St. Paul, not Wallner. That tells you everything you know about that possibility.

    And this will get us to what, 81 wins? The moves by themselves are not necessarily bad moves. What helps us for this year and the future. I would love to see moves that move us beyond being a .500 team or on a pathway that potentially gets us there.

    You are only going to call up 1 position player in September, I am not sure I am going to used limited moves on Wallner. As you said he needs a new environment and he should be traded now even if it is for a bucket of ball. It feels as if they have already moved on from him.

    You have made a lot of assumptions about Royce and what he is thinking and feeling. Personally I see a player that is engaged with his teammates and seems genuinely happy when they do well. Does he speak too much, yes, but if he gave the cliche answers we are all used to, he would be roasted for that as well.

    I do not think it is in the best interests of any team to have owners making suggestions of who should be signed or what holes need to be filled, they can play fantasy baseball if they want to do that. If they do not trust their staff to have the knowledge and expertise to know what holes to fill and how to fill them they should be firing them and bringing in new people.

    I don't understand your comment. Falvey was the President of Baseball Operations, Levine was the GM until 24 when Zoll was promoted to GM to replace him. So Falvey has always had total responsibility. But Zoll has been very instrumental in the personnel moves since before he was promoted to GM. This is per Falvey when he promoted Zoll. There has been no cleaning house for the baseball operations off field staff. Falvey has been removed but the same staff is still advising and supporting Zoll. Shelton fields the lineup based on the players given to him. How much does he makes suggestions to Zoll, no one knows. But his focus is on the field not on St. Paul or Wichita. Zoll has hit on Gomez that was a good pickup but he also has churned thru multiple others that did not. I like the potential of Anderson but I am not ready to hand him a high leverage role based on two outings. He is the type I wish they would target more, younger, maybe got caught up a little bit on the options game similar to Gomez.

    But has he done that since taking over, none of us know. But everyone is making the assumption he has. In my opinion based on his comments that if Zoll came to him with a reasonable request it would be approved.

    I think you need to give him until the end of the year at least. He has been making improvements at the plate and I would not want to give up on him yet. He was moved off of 3B by the team, he was not a butcher there and was making improvement as he got more reps. It was part of a plan to make room for Culpepper, so he willingly moved to first and is looking competent there and getting better. Lewis has an it factor that you don't have in any other player except Buxton. It has to start translating to more production on the field but he is not someone I would give away. And there is no replacement for him. I am not going to count on Clemens to have another career year. What he is doing this year is helpful but I am not going to move someone in hopes that it continues when he is already 30. There is no logjam in the infield, you have Culpepper and Houston close to the major leagues and that is it. There are no first baseman ready to come up.

    How can Milwaukee have one of the best records in the league with a below average payroll. Are their owners making all the personnel decisions. Every decision maker in any industry has to work within the parameters given to them by their bosses. In baseball teams have been able to build winning teams with smaller payrolls. Should the payroll have been reduced two years ago the way it was, no. But how high do you think it should have gone. It's not all about money. This offseason Falvey had at least $14m at his disposal and he signed Bell and Caratini, which at the time were questionable signings. And allocated no resources to the bullpen. So we make the playoffs this year and go play two games on the road and lose both. I would prefer to build towards a sustainable winning team, not worry about one year.

    What has changed in the front office, you still have all the same personnel. The only change is Falvey is gone. And Zoll has been a key Falvey confidante for the last 5 years at least. Why would you expect a change in philosophy now.
