  1. They do need to use him in these situations, you just can't hide someone in the bullpen. I would rather see him than some of the castoffs they have been running out there.
  2. Kreidler's batting average is dropping like a rock, at least he can play defense.
  3. They need to give Keaschall some time at one position and help him get better. His athleticism can help him and I think he can get better. You need his bat in the lineup. I seem to remember similar comments about Arraez and now he is the every day second baseman for San Francisco. And that is because he got some coaching. Not every player comes up a finished product, Koskie was just as brutal when he first came up and he worked himself into a productive third baseman. Maybe show some patience with Keaschall.
  4. And then pulled early again, they love their bulk pitchers.
  5. That play was a 50/50 play to be made, it is not on Lewis.
  6. Playing the infield in has prolonged the inning and cost at least one run so far. Analytics needs to be used in moderation.
  7. What's the over under on how many HR's he hits tonight, 2.5?
  8. I really don't understand sitting both Buxton and Jeffers. I know Buxton just came off the IL, but DH him at least. You don't have to have Bell in the lineup. It is getting close to the time where the season is on the line in these two games if you truly think you are contenders. You need to win these two games and you need to have your best lineup in there. And I would prefer Kreidler at short vs. Caratini at first. Again the goal should be the best lineup you can field.
  9. Yes Falvey made the final decision, but there was no way he was on the phone with that many teams by himself. He was relying heavily on Zoll, who probably had some parameters to work within, but there is no doubt Zoll was in favor of the moves and was a major factor behind them. Zoll has been heavily involved in personnel decisions for the last 5 years, I am not letting him off the hook for this messed up construction of a roster just because he didn't make the final decision.
  10. You want Tom P. looking over Zoll's shoulder, saying no I want prospect x not prospect y. I don't trust Zoll but I sure don't trust Tom P. when it comes to evaluating baseball talent.
  11. You can't trade Buxton as we know, so it is already a given he is not available.
  12. I am not happy with ownership but this front office has given us one playoff win in 10 years. It is still the same people and philosophies, just the top person removed. This is what I want ownership to change, the front office with someone who will knows what it takes to win. I love Connelly's attitude with the Timberwolves. If he is going to get fired, he is at least going to try and make moves to make the team better.
  13. These are the consequences of the philosophy of anyone can play anywhere. In reality it isn't that easy and there is going to be a learning curve. You have to live with the ups and downs of the learning curve.
  14. Mick Abel has yet to do anything. he had two good starts and then was injured. Yes he looked good, but it is way too early to say he will work out. Taj Bradley has done better than with Tampa, but he is still showing why they traded, just to a lesser degree. He still has command issues and he can still be streaky. I don't mind him at the #3 or #4 starter, but again I want to see more of this going forward before saying the trade was a success like you can with Ryan.
  15. Be careful when you ask for quality, people on here get attached to the under achieving and AAAA type players.
  16. I agree, the only reason I can see that Gray started as much as he did is analytics. This is where they really lose me on the use. I get there is a place for them but adjust when the eyes tell you something different.
  17. Is Pohlad out there evaluating the players and saying this is the guy we want to sign. Falvey chose not to spend on the bullpen last offseason and instead signed Bell and Caratini which were questionable signings at the time. Money isn't the only issue, Milwaukee seems to be doing fine on a below average payroll.
  18. What is Zoll recommending to Tom P., that is what I am hoping is the starting conversation. And what is his rationale for it. If it is a solid rationale either for or against trading Ryan, Tom P. should go along with it. Otherwise why is Zoll in the job, he is the one evaluating players along with the analytic nerds and they are supposed to be the ones with the knowledge with what makes the most sense. I get if he is concerned with fan reaction but honestly how further down can it go. Make the right baseball decision and work on getting fans back.
  19. Well considering he was signed to be the starting first baseman, it feels like he is clogging the roster by being the full time DH. And we are a sub .500 team with him leading the team in RBI's.
  20. I think they give him this year and if he can't keep sustained production for over the last two months then that conversation is a fair conversation. But the talent is still there and I think he has that intangible of rising to the moment in there. Not every player has that, but I do understand it has to start showing on the field. And it may be that it happens with another organization. But I do believe they need to give him the rest of this season, especially since we are not reasonably contenders.
  21. He cut the staff of pro scouts from 5 to 1 last September to focus on analytics and more video scouting. Most teams average around 10 pro scouts. I am not sure how that is bringing the organization into the 21st century. I am not a fan of analytics when it is not used as a tool but as the driving force of decision making. There needs to be a balance and with Falvey we tipped way too far to the analytics side. I agree with most everything else you wrote but that is one point I felt the need to comment on. I do think Zoll is not the one to lead this organization and Tom P. needs to be looking now and make a change the day after the season ends.
  22. Players do go thru these stretches, are you expecting him to never have a slump. This feels a little quick to say this. He is a bulk guy, they won't make a decision of where he fits so they ride the middle ground which is maddening to everyone. Put him in the bullpen and be a one inning guy. Absolutely agree!!!
