    Because it applies to how this organization is lacking in developing their prospects and not having patience with them. We will see this year if they truly believe Wallner is an every day player because last year they did not have the options to sit every lefty hitter against left handed pitching.

    Wallner is a perfect example of their impatience with the younger players. In 24 he was sent down after two weeks and 25 AB's. Yes I know his K rate was off the charts, but it was 25 AB's. And he was 26 years old. And he was kept down in the minors for a month longer than he probably should have been. That was the year to find out if he could be part of the core moving forward. With his pedigree from both college and the minors as a 2nd round pick, you need to develop players like this when you are in our market. And remember he was consistently pinch hit for by the pinch hitting machine Margot. Now they are hoping he can be a core part of the team, they should know by now. As for MIranda, he should have been given the 1B job in 23 over Solano and Gallo after his 22 season, maybe we wouldn't have the hole at 1B that we have now. Definitely last year France should not have been handed the job over Miranda. Was it the beaning or the complete lack of confidence shown in him that broke him last year. Unfortunately we will never know.

    Why is this unrealistic, maybe with the current makeup of the roster. But the goal should always be to put your best players out there and have your role players thrive in their assigned role. This organization thinks this is Strat-o-Matic and you can just move players around like chess pieces. Having one or possibly two platoon positions is one thing but stop having your goal being to get players that can play anywhere. They become a jack of all trades and master of none.

    The problem with a rebuild is do you trust Falvey to identify the correct players to get back in return. Who does he have in the front office that knows how to scout and identify the players to seek and hopefully build a winner. They have gutted the scouting staff and it is all analytics staff sitting behind a computer telling him who he should acquire. How has that worked out so far. We end up signing guys like France and Gallo or even Margot. As for the coaching staff, we do have a new manager and some new coaches. But there is also a fair amount of coaches that were brought back. With the collapse of the last year and a half, you would have expected more turnover but Falvey thinks his process is working. So again do you trust Falvey in a rebuild.

    Outman is a near certain 26 man lock, Falvey is not going to let him go that quickly. Falvey is convinced he can fix Outman and he will not let him go anytime before July or August if we are lucky.

    I am glad to hear that Outman and Fitzgerald now know their swing, their careers have really taken off. You could have at least cite a better example of success to prove the software works. Do all players want this technology or maybe they have other methods to be successful. I too worry that they are getting information overload, and I believe Lewis has alluded to this in the past. Even Rocco in 2024 openly pondered if they were getting too much information. All the analytics and technology is great but there are still fundamental components of hitting that seem to be overlooked. One of those is having a plan when you go up to the plate and how often have we seen the offense shut down after the first couple of innings. Are there in game adjustments being made, are they watching the pitcher or the iPad. So can they adjust their swing, but can they identify the pitch or what pitch they should be sitting on. We need to get back to the basics. Also it would be nice to know how many teams truly use this software. A pretty big range was provided and that tells me maybe it isn't as much of a proven tool as the author wants us to believe.

    I hope Martin gets a chance next year but I don't believe Falvey believes in him and this showed last year when he only got a chance because of injuries and the roster blow up. Roden and Outman are going to get plenty of run in the outfield before anyone else and they will continue to be run out there regardless of results if history shows anything. This team i.e. Falvey kept running Gallo out there and let Margot set a pinch hitting futility record. And why was this, they were his guys and signings. I hope the younger OF's get a chance next year but based on Falvey's track record they will either have a very short leash or will get no shot all.

    Him making the team was a foregone conclusion the moment he signed. Falvey basically said he was the starting first baseman at the time of the signing the same as he has now done with Clemens. All these articles whether fantasy or real about what they will do at 1B is not going to change what has already been determined. I will believe something different when there is someone not named Clemens at 1B on opening day.

    The situation at 1B is no different than last year, Falvey has basically annointed Clemens as the starter the same as he did last year with France after signing him to a $1m contract. I would be very surprised if they sign any additional resources for 1B. Even a RH platoon if they don't play another position would be a poor use of roster resources. But the same point still applies to as it does to every other post, we do not know the direction the Twins want to go. But when they keep players like Gasper, Kriedler and Fitzgerald on the 40 man and take the risk of exposing of other prospects to the rule 5, it is not a good start. And they do not have young players on the 40 man, they are mostly a collection of players in their late 20's who have had minimal success if any at the major league level. I hope they do something to show us some reason to watch this season.

    Foley would be a good addition, no to Lowe. How much dumpster do we have to do. We already have Gasper on the roster and Clemens proclaimed as the starting first baseman. Yet Falvey said he wants to building a contending for next year, either he is completely incompetent or lying or possibly both. Because neither of these moves signal a serious move to contention.

    But he will be on the 26 man roster as the backup catcher, that is the way Falvey rolls. He is smarter than everyone else. I would have liked to see them protect another pitcher like Culpepper rather than wasting a roster spot on a proven non producer like Gasper.

    Clemens had one good month, and was average to below average every other month. If he is on the roster it should be for 200 AB's at the most as a role player off the bench. Either a winning team or rebuilding team should not be giving him regular at bats. Either get a quality first baseman or let one of the kids play there and learn.

    I haven't seen a plan from this front office in at least five years. I have always been able to at least get a sense of a plan from this team and I have been following this team since the 70's. And I don't trust Falvey to execute a plan if he really has one. We are in this mess under his watch. He has not managed his assets well, he has been given record payrolls for the Twins that were in the middle of the pack for MLB and has one playoff series win to show for it. I was hoping not necessarily expecting an honest review of the whole organization to understand what they are doing right and what needs to be done differently. Based on the hiring of Shelton and keeping many of the same coaches, this hasn't happened. We are just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic. So no matter how they move forward, I am not sure it will result in success this year or even in the next few years because Falvey is not the answer to put this organization in a position to succeed. And where I blame the owners is if they truly don't know their budget now at the beginning of the baseball business year that is business malpractice and Falvey is not to be blamed for that.

    In 2024 he started 7 of the first 13 games and had 25 ab's, not sure how that considered he played himself out of a job when he was never given a real opportunity. And then it took over a month when he started hitting in the minors before calling him up. And he was not 22 years old at the time, they needed to find out what they had in him, not keep trotting out aging veterans which was what happened. And Kepler was not hitting and had not done so in 3 years, so yes he was blocked.

    Like when Wallner wasn't brought up from the minors in 23 o4 24 so the likes of Kepler and Margot could keep getting ab's. Even Miranda should have been given a shot at 1B over any of the veterans they brought in like Gallo and even Santana. I know he fizzled last year, but in the years prior he was blocked.

    This is absolutely an organizational direction and has nothing to do with pitch counts. Go back and look at the box scores of the minor league games. Pitchers were routinely pulled after 3 to 5 innings with 60 or 70 pitches. And most times it was because they had faced the lineup twice. So if they don't go more than five innings or face the lineup a third time, they can keep their mantra of he has no track record of facing a lineup a third time and doesn't have the stamina to go longer than 5 innings so we must pull him.

    A few random thoughts on Falvey and the structure of the organization. It was reported when they combined the two roles that this was an exception, most teams do have one person for the baseball side and one for the business operations, which is different than most businesses. It made sense at the time to promote Falvey if DSP truly wanted to retire, With the team up for sale you couldn't bring somebody in with no certainty of the ownership situation. When Zoll was promoted, Levine made a comment that he hadn't been as involved in the decisions on the baseball side for the last couple of years. Which was kind of strange based on his position. So one of the most experienced baseball minds in the organization was basically squeezed out. It does lead you to wonder if Falvey just wants yes men around him. This is the worst kind of leader you can have. Falvey has limited baseball experience, he needs to hire better people around him. But he thinks it is all about modeling and insists his way is the only way. When Joe P. was promoted to the Executive role of the Twins, it was said that he was the only Pohlad to have an office at Target Field from when he was working in the marketing department. It sounded like he has developed a close relationship with Falvey. Is he too close to objectively evaluate Falvey and his performance, that is my fear. This feels like Joe's team and he has won the battle with the rest of the family because he is the one that wants to keep the team. I am not sure anything will change unless the minority partners have some say and are not puppets and can objectively evaluate Falvey's performance. Otherwise I don't see a way out of this mess. Falvey is not the one to lead us out of it.

    Here's an idea, let's not keep taking flyers on injured or players with issues. Let's try and bring some proven players in, a novel concept but it would be nice to try once. Trying once here and there is one thing, but this is how Falvey operates.

    He didn't refuse to switch positions, he had concerns and showed his willingness during the offseason by working at 2B. Here is his quote from last year. “I would feel horrible if they put me out there and I'm missing plays that are routine or something,” Lewis had said on Monday, after his second-base debut. “We have plenty of really good second basemen and I don't want to mess up our defense just because we're going to try something new. It's not Spring Training -- or Triple-A, for that matter.” Sep 4, 2024 Now if you want to argue that he should have kept quiet or only said something behind the scenes that is fair. But he did not refuse to move, he was concerned about the timing which I don't entirely blame him for. The Twins think everyone is a chess piece and can be moved around, but these are humans and you do want them to be comfortable, that sets them up for a better chance for success.·

    Baseball has always been a game of routine and consistency, analytics especially as used by this team refuses to acknowledge this. Players get comfortable hitting in the same spot in the lineup, Dozier fought moving out of the leadoff when he was struggling, Buxton likes hitting leadoff, they are comfortable. Gardy used to hit Redmond third when he replaced Mauer in the lineup so he wouldn't have to move everyone around, keep consistency in the lineup. Many winning teams have a fairly set lineup, but the Twins think they can win every single matchup in a game and try to out smart the other team. Get the best players, put them in a position to be successful, have good role players and you will win more games than not. And if the players aren't good enough, replace them. This front office thinks they are smarter than everybody and that they can win the games, so when injuries happen they don't have enough depth to overcome the injuries.

    Pereda has 3 errors in only 8 games as a catcher, how is that possible.

    Larnach has actually been one of our better hitters. Outman and Gasper are 4AAA guys who can run into one every now and then. I want the best players on the field because that is how you win games over the course of a season.
