  1. Again, two strikes, you protect the plate, the pitch was not that far outside. And he has been letting more of those low and outside pitches go since his call up. We need more production from him, but I am seeing changes and being honest about it.
  2. He had two strikes on him and he was protecting the plate. He was not looking to pull the ball. Don't let facts get in the way of your narrative.
  3. If only we had another option for SS, but I guess Gray is the best option we have in the organization.
  4. He is not moving around nearly as much as he was, he is much more stable then his previous stint before going down. He actually went with the pitch which he hasn't been doing.
  5. This lineup tonight, we have three players, Gray, Clemens and Bell that we have options in St. Paul to replace. We are 7 games under .500 playing these three who have no future with the team except for maybe Clemens in a reserve role at best. Time to make the changes and see what you have for next year, so you know what holes need to be filled. And yes there will be baseball again at some point after this season, whenever that is it would be nice to know what direction we need to go rather than treading water.
  6. After seeing today's lineup, get what you can for him. That way they will quit forcing him in the lineup and maybe we could get somebody up that has more upside and more of a chance to be part of the future.
  7. The comments are more about the front office and the decision makers. I am not seeing a derogatory comment about the pitcher himself. If I am missing something, please tell me. The front office, meaning Zoll deserve all the criticism they get and it is part of the job.
  8. A team full of utility players and with at least a quarter of the players only worthy of being the 26th man on most teams is not a contending team. One series is not going to change that. Just because they are deluding themselves into thinking they are doesn't make it so.
  9. I figured that it was tongue in cheek. Wanted to give credit to the genius, Falvey.
  10. They would need a willing trade partner and I am not sure there is one out there. I do agree with you on the attachment that fans have for mediocre players. Let's try and raise the bar on the talent level on this team for once.
  11. Lewis was a first round draft pick and number 1 pick with a larger investment than what was invested for Clemens. This has been going on in all sports since the beginning of time of who gets more chances and who doesn't. And Lewis has actually had more success in his career than Clemens. He doesn't have a position because the Twins haven't committed to a position for him. Now the argument can be made that the Twins have given Lewis enough chances and it is time to move on and that is fair. I am not in that camp, I think Lewis should be here until the end of the year and then make a decision.
  12. These bullpen moves tell me that nothing has really changed in the front office. Falvey created a culture of 'we are the smartest in the room" and that does not appear to be changing. Let's purge this whole front office and get some competent baseball executives to run this organization.
  13. Hopefully Bradley is not reverting back to his Tampa form and that the early season success was truly a breakthrough.
  14. Do we not think the rest of baseball scouts players. He has had a good six weeks similar to last year. It seems to be forgotten by most that he was hitting below the Mendoza line for April. I don't mind him on the roster as the 13th man playing a few days a week and pinch hitting. The problem as others have noted is the usage of Clemens by the Twins. He is not an everyday player and the fact that he is playing and performing as one of the better players is an indictment of the roster talent on this team. We might get a Rookie ball player for him if a team is desperate or has an injury that they can't fill internally. He has nowhere near the value of Castro or Escobar.
  15. I stand corrected, there was a market of one team in the last year. Just like last year at the trade deadline, there will be no market for Bell.
  16. There is no market for Bell and there hasn't been for a year. But I would not be disappointed to see him DFA'd, just not sure this team would do that.
  17. That's because leadership hasn't really changed. The direction for this season was set by Falvey during the offseason, leaving right before spring training really didn't leave a lot of room to pivot. Zoll was the number 2 to Falvey and really hasn't shown he doesn't want to follow the plan and put his stamp on this organization. He needs to go and we need an experienced baseball executive to set the direction for this team.
  18. Lewis has had two games back up here, kind of early to say he has turned into a pumpkin. He looks a lot better at the plate than he did. Now we just need to see it result in more production.
  19. Gray is stretched as the everyday shortstop, 16 of his 26 RBI's have come in four games. He will havesome success, but not consistently, that is the definition of a AAAA player. It shouldn't really be that difficult to move him to St. Paul for Culpepper. And I am not sure it necessarily makes the team worse. But this team is not really a contending despite what the standings say, I agree with that. They need to start being honest with where they are at as an organization. This is why I have started to bang the drum to bring in a senior baseball advisor to help Zoll. I do not think he is up to the task of being the top baseball voice especially where this organization is at right now.
  20. Bell won't be traded because there will be no interest in him just like last year at the trade deadline. To me, Wallner is the perfect change of scenery candidate. I still think he can be a productive player in the major leagues but I think it needs to come with another organization and at this point I am fine with that. And I am not really worried about what we could get back for him if anything.
  21. With the current roster, this is the best configuration but as I said originally the roster needs to be changed up. This roster is not going to win consistently, some of the AAAA players and aging vets will have their moments but they can't do it on a consistent basis. To me if we are going to see players struggle, I would rather it be the younger players and hope they are learning from it. And if you determine they are not major league players you know what holes to fill in the offseason.
  22. Was there something in his profile that said he could hit for power, honest question. Not everyone hits for power. If that was what they were looking for, maybe the trade shouldn't have been made.
