  1. Yes a 30 year old journeyman is the answer. Keaschall has been hitting fine just not for power.
  2. Have you been watching the games since Royce returned. His feet are much quieter in the box. He has a step back to help with timing and power and a little leg kick, that is not happy feet. Yes he has swung at a couple of the low outside pitches, but he has improved his plate discipline, He has one strikeout in 15 AB's. This is a small sample size and he has to start turning his improvements into steady production at the plate. But he is looking better, anyone who is objective can see that.
  3. He was signed to play 1B, DH was intended to be a rotation of players. Falvey stated this after the signing, which is what made this a bad signing. At least they have pivoted from this, but he is clogging up the DH spot. You could have gone with four starting outfielders and rotated one at the DH spot for example. There was no market for Bell last year and his numbers are no better this year, so if they are not willing to DFA him, I am afraid he will be on this roster thru the end of the season.
  4. Look at his career, the injury is not the reason he has troubles with command.
  5. He has no command of his pitches, did you watch the game last night, that was a microcosm of his career. He has the stuff but he has no idea where it is going. This is his fifth year of starting and he still can't put together a streak of a few games at a time.
  6. They need to find enough starters so that Bradley can be moved to the bullpen. He isn't going to make it as a starter, which Tampa already figured out.
  7. All the trade proposals above have one problem, the decision maker. Do we trust Zoll to set the course of this organization for the years to come. Does he have any kind of plan or is he just going to take what he gets. Can he get true value for any of the players mentioned in the article and comments. I find it hard to believe Clemens would bring anything, there was already an article written about him. Gomez has been good for a few weeks and I hope he keeps it up, but what would he really bring back.
  8. He is clogging up the DH spot, which could be rotated among various players. Say you call up Fedko and Roden and want to give them regular playing time, somebody can DH. So it is more than Wallner that he is blocking.
  9. There are plenty of other candidates for Culpepper to replace. Keaschall is not the worst problem we need to worry about.
  10. Being versatile doesn't mean you are competent at a position. Having a couple of players that can move around is nice and can help a team. Even having a couple players that can fill in at different positions can be helpful in late game situations or short term injuries. But expecting players to excel at multiple positions is not realistic. Reps still mean something and that is what helps you excel at anything in life. The play for Lewis was not a simple grounder and I am not trying to overstate the difficulty. But he is holding a runner on and has to come off the base to field the grounder. Is he thinking or reacting, footwork makes a difference and that is where reps come in.
  11. This feels more like an article about a player you don't think should be part of the team. You try to downplay his improvement in May by saying he is regressing in June. This month he has started 7 games and gotten hits in 4 of them, doesn't seem like much regression. As others have noted Keaschall is who should be getting AB's, not the likes of Gray, Arcia, Kreidler, even Bell or Clemens should not get AB's over Keaschall. If our big league staff can't get him back on track then maybe they aren't the ones for the job.
  12. Falvey would so lets hope he gets hired somewhere real soon.
  13. Morneau kept talking about the humidity every time he threw it over Caratini's head.
  14. The pitching well may be dry, but there are position players in St. Paul that should be called up and try to inject some life into this team. And this should start with Culpepper, Gray is not a major league SS and it is getting insane that they keep running him out there.
  15. This is the result of anyone can play anywhere and not stressing quality defense. Yes Lewis didn't make a play on the grounder. It was his second game at 1B, there are going to be more plays that would be made by an experienced first baseman that he is not going to make until he is comfortable. This is on the Twins not on Lewis.
  16. They don't consider Paredes now, so it would just mean more bullpen games.
  17. Well we did just trade for another 30 year career minor leaguer who can't throw strikes, so help might be on the way,
  18. Would you prefer Lawrence, I mean there are minimal options when you have to cover almost 5 innings.
  19. The clock is striking midnight for Taj and he is turning into a pumpkin. They need to run him out there this year, but really have to think about giving him a spot in the rotation next year.
  20. Maybe stop playing musical chairs with the defense and players can get comfortable and field their positions better.
  21. Yes he will be a gold glover by the end of the week after playing all of 2 games at 1B.
  22. Taj doesn't even know where his pitches are going, so I am not sure if he is tipping his pitches it would be helpful.
  23. We got a bullpen game tomorrow, Bradley needs to give them at six tonight. If he can't figure out where his pitches are going, it will be tough.
