  1. I like this post. He is a long limbed athlete and there should be no question that adding some muscle would help him catch up with fastballs, guide the barrel of the bat to better contact, strike out less and come through the ball with more authority. To me it appears that his vision and pitch recognition are still elite. So, in a very non-attacking and respectful way, I pose the following question. What Joe is doing in the offseason now is getting him what he is currently getting from a productivity standpoint. What is the aversion to showing up at spring training with some extra muscle packed on to that lengthy frame? I want to assume, like many do, that he is willing to do everything in his power to be the best he can be. IMHO he brings a plethora of value to the team but I can't help but feel a little dissapointed that he doesn't add showing up looking jacked at spring training to his list of off season to do's.
  2. We don't get to see the behind the scenes stuff like Molitor does. This guy may be fighting a fever or that guy is run down or the other guy had a great batting practice and appears to be really energized today....etc..... I like that Molitor sometimes doesn't go by the book. By the book is a safe place for a manager. He is willing to include what he is seeing on a day to day basis as well as his baseball sense. I like that about the guy and I think he brings a lot out of his players. Optimism being one of them.
  3. I like the Hughes and Santana signings. Both should provide value for a few more years. In my mind we went two for three on these signings working out. Not too shabby. If Nolasco can get healthy and return to form........bonus.
  4. I'm almost 50 and have been a Twins fan for 45 years too. Your story sort of mirrors my feelings about this team. You should not consider yourself a bad fan. Just a realistic one. We are trending in the right direction now. I'm excited for the upcoming seasons. This season is a real fun bonus in my mind. It's been really fun even if they fall short of the playoffs.
  5. In my mind, upgrading shortstop is not our lowest hanging fruit. Plug Esco in and leave him alone for the forseable future. Focus on other areas of need.
  6. Currently, our outfield as a whole is better than last year. His contributions on defense are his major contributing factor at this moment in time. I imagine gradual growth over the next two seasons for him. After that, I could see him being a top 5 center fielder for many years. If Hicks and Rosario continue their current path, we have an unreal outfield for several years. I'm very excited about that. Buxton doesn't need to be Trout to be a rock star.
  7. I would be thrilled if we landed him.
  8. He will have to master AA. Then master AAA. Then come up for 1 game. Get sent back down. Struggle. Regroup. Fade as a prospect. Rebound as a prospect. Re-master AAA. Get called up again. Fail. Go back down. We should see him here to stay after TJ surgery around 2019.
  9. omg that's not Irvin Santana is it?
  10. One word on snacks, all are better when dunked in chunky blue cheese dressing. True dat!
  11. Nice chopper Mauer. How about spending some of that cash on a weight set and coming to spring training looking jacked for a change instead of attending his and hers yoga class all winter.
  12. For **** sakes Boyer step and throw!
  13. More like the pirate guy from Dodgeball.
  14. I don't even know what this means but I'm still laughing #easily enertained
  15. That word just makes a person feel better. Even better when combined with other words to make an anger releasing phraise.
