  1. And somewhere else it said Spring Training had already begun... That answers my question, and on a closer look, the countdown is for the first game.
  2. I am already missing him. My recollection is he dragged his feet cross the plate, got ejected for that, so he went back and buried the entire plate in (kicked) dirt. I do like spunk.
  3. The big count down on the banner of the top site implies Spring Training starts on Thursday? I'm just surprised it no longer says "Breaking news"... And is this the place to ask things about Spring Training? Assuming i have questions beyond when it begins, of course.
  4. i approve of Sam. Too lazy these days to read something likened in epic length to the works of Tolkien... (although i suppose it could be worse... Wagnerian in scope. Forcing me to learn another language. Although that would probably do me good) Did he ever get his hands on a ring, by the way?
  5. Mmmm. A way with words, you have.
  6. Sigh. So already we are losing valuable Buxton time.
  7. So no one knows if i could invite Buxton to my place for a pick up game? I was also wondering... are players being paid during the lockout? It isn't a player's fault he isn't playing. He should still be collecting a paycheck. Or have the owners stumbled upon a way out of the "unbreakable" contracts? Here's to hoping 2023 happens! (Considering how 2020 played out, i am not sure if that is optimistic)
  8. To what extent are the players currently under contract? If i invited a couple of Twins to my backyard for a pick up game, would there be penalties for them accepting? I hope the players ask for and get the back pay due to this being a lockout and not a strike. (or equivalent concessions of a usefuller nature, like a voice in the rule change discussions, such as 7 inning double headers and 2nd base runners in extra innings...) I do like the thought that the entire lockout is nothing more than a ploy to manipulate service time... Standard operating procedure. They just felt the players union needed a little bit mofre seasoning to bargain in the big leagues. What if the come to table too early and get injured? You've lost a whole season of bargaining. Anyway, back to doing usefuller things besides checking twinsdaily (saintsdaily? are we being locked out too? no, i guess not. never mind) for any updates.... Oh yeah, i too appreciate the writing here. Just too lazy to do writing myself
  9. Let's say Toledo. For some reason i always want to think it is also a dish of Mexican cuisine, like a Tamale. So the notion it is electrified to the point of spicy seems like validation on all fronts. And i for one don't want to discourage these hopes and dreams. I hope and dream it becomes a viable source of green energy, and we save the ecosystem.
  10. Can i play, then? Would i get paid? And what's to stop the players from just taking their roles? No strike has been called after all.
  11. The what-if game is hard to play well. If they had taken the 50% of revenue part of the deal, revenue might have been diverted through other entities not strictly part of the club. And it is also possible that steroid testing may have been unacceptably implemented, and a destructive legal battle ensued? But thanks for the summary of those times. I wasn't paying too close attention when it all went down. A friend played a podcast for me recently about the Hormel strike in the 80s. Yeah, being in elementary school and roughly an hour away, i heard of it, but didn't notice any effects directly in my situation.
  12. Remind me, how many All Star 3rd basemen we have had over the years. I don't know...
  13. Yeah, i liked Guzman too, and fondly remember triples. I am glad you featured his triples. Nothing better than a triple feature...
  14. Maybe you just haven't met the right one(s)? What was your first point again?
  15. I remember Mr. Granite battling his tail off for us. And no one can take that away. Thanks for reminding me of him!
  16. Just so long as no one starts shortselling Royce Lewis, i'm fine. And if anyone does, i will be watching so as to get in on the next gamestop situation. (as nicknames, go perhaps that would be more appropriate for a closer, but i could live with it)
  17. Even after all these years, i would have a hard time picking David Ortiz over Matthew LeCroy. And as there isn't yet one of these articles about Big Pappi, it would seem Mr. Stu concurs? Any thanks for writing, and pass me some of that xmas possum!
  18. Maybe we should have traded for Naughtius Maximus instead?
  19. An i dotting coach? A t crossing coach? And the peas and cues minding coach has an essential role. But then... who coaches the coaches? Levity aside, welcome aboard, luis and hank!
  20. Hurray for exceeding expectations by the slimmest possible margin!
  21. Well, lost last 3 games, but they are still better than normal...
  22. I am rooting for him to make it into the hall.
  23. I'd settle for a pitcher better than other team's batters...
