  1. Here's what I would do about Hughes - not put Robbie Grossman in the outfield behind him.
  2. Interesting that the Yankees have a home OPS of .871 (I hate that little league park) and an away OPS of .740 (still a good road OPS), but between them and the Rockies, those have to be two of the largest home/road OPS disparities. ...and now that I've checked - Arizona with an .886/.608 split. Impressive!
  3. Foster Brooks - I remember that dude. I think I read once that he didn't drink any more...or any less!
  4. Back in first place. MLB network still not believers....along with many others. The problem is that we have beaten bad teams and lost to the good teams.
  5. Kintzler had some serious movement on his pitches tonight. If we need a closer tomorrow night, who gets the call?
  6. Wow! I quit watching when we were up 7-2. Oh well, hold on for the win boys!
  7. Machine Gun Tommy Milone on the mound for the Mets today.
  8. Laguardia...feel like your either going to fly or go for a swim every time you take off...and the odds seem to be even.
  9. I'm not in favor of the "all in" approach that some teams take when they trade away future prospects for the stud that will put them over the top for one year. To me, it boils down to about a 1 in 12 shot at winning it all vs. a better shot at being in the playoffs on a regular basis. The playoffs are a weird, wide open thing. If a team gets hot, they can win it all with less talent than another team who paid dearly for that stud to bring them to the promise land. I like the possibility of a dynasty over a shot at winning it for a year.
  10. Sorry, that's what happens when I post around lunch time.
  11. I've only been to Chicago once. I found it really gray and drab. Went for a run every morning to the Navy pier. Road the L, visited my cousin, road it back at 10pm and didn't exactly feel safe (understatement). Went to the top of the John Hancock building to kill some time. Ate a great pizza, can't remember the place, but it was a really popular and really good deep dish pizza. Outside of that, I'd say one of the more interesting things I've read about Chicago is a guy by the name of Horatio Spafford. Won't go into details, but google it sometime.
  12. ....and we are now in first place!
  13. The beauty of this is that it was against the Red Sox and will be all over the sports highlights.
  14. Whoooooo! I'll take the win!...and Audra Martin....jk. I'll just take the win and stay married.
  15. The rumblings have been there that he's on thin ice. Not sure if you bring up Berrios at this point...maybe a little DL stint...you know, the blister on his finger is gonna take some time to heal.
  16. Bummer. Big fly granny would have been a nice way to end the game.
  17. Silly question, but with Vargas in as a DH/1B, and knowing that Grossman isn't playing any outfield, how does it make sense to keep Grossman? Not saying Grossman is bad, just saying, why keep both on the roster? I don't know that anyone would trade for him, but he seems like a man without a home on this roster.
  18. Smoke it Sano....ok, maybe not.
  19. Never been a fan of Moonshot Tonkin. I just don't see any movement on the fastball other than it moving over the fence really fast. I think he's a great candidate to move down/cut/trade (not happening).
  20. Hmmm. Not sure, but I toyed with The Knife, but maybe I just need to be more generic and go with Erv "Slice" Santana or possibly Mac Santana (short for Mac the Knife)
  21. I like Jason "the carpenter" Castro for his framing ability. I think some nicknames should be retired (Babe) but Big Cat...I don't thing Andres Gallaraga is quite in the same class as George Herman Ruth. Here's today's lineups Texas 1. Shin-Soo Choo (L) DH 2. Carlos Gomez ® CF 3. Nomar Mazara (L) RF 4. Mike Napoli ® 1B 5. Rougned Odor (L) 2B 6. Elvis Andrus ® SS 7. Joey Gallo (L) 3B 8. Jonathan Lucroy ® C 9. Ryan Rua ® LF Andrew Cashner on the hill Twins 1. Brian (Bull) Dozier ® 2B 2. Max (Der Schlager) Kepler (L) RF 3. Miguel (Big Cat) Sano ® 3B 4. Joe (The Wall...Wally for short) Mauer (L) 1B 5. Jorge (Plunk) Polanco (S) SS 6. Jason (The Carpenter) Castro (L) C 7. Kennys (Pork Chop) Vargas (S) DH 8. Eddie (Fast Eddie) Rosario (L) LF 9. Byron (BB3B) Buxton ® CF Erv (The Blade) Santana cutting them down
  22. BFA or BFH? Framing (construction style) needs a BFH. I thought about Crash Castro, but Crash has been used in Bull Durham.
  23. Truck and Der Schlagger get my vote. I'm still liking Big Cat Sano.
