  1. Dantes929 Today, 11:22 AM Am I reading this correctly? If the stats hold true the Twins will go from a negative 65 runs to a positive 45 runs thereby preventing 110 runs over the course of a season. Last year it would have brought their ERA from 5.09 down to 4.40. ———— Sorry, the quote feature doesn't seem to be working for me. I believe the stats cited are cumulative over a three year period, not averaged. I didn't go look them up myself, but that's how I read it.
  2. I hope Buxton stays healthy all year, but if he goes down for more than a week, will Granite be the primary call up?
  3. Is this thread the one where joking is allowed? If so, then why is no one joking in here?
  4. Anyone ever there to give you any pain?
  5. How did it feel to get out of the rain?
  6. I once knew a man who had a dog with no nose.
  7. That's the spirit.
  8. I heard sheep. I saw wood.
  9. Sad. A strange world we live in.
  10. This is a good hire as long as he gets rid of the pop-pop-pop "rockets red glare" fireworks display of mediocrity.
  11. We just need to duplicate that scenario again to reverse the jinx. The next time we're in Toronto, whenever someone gets on first base, we should try to just hit nothing but grounders to 2B until the runner gets a knee to the head. Although, then the runner will probably wake up, and realize it was all a dream. And instead of being a baseball player, he's really a writer who runs a bed and breakfast with his wife in Vermont.
  12. I'm in favor of pitch counts for all leagues where players can be under age 18, and for public institutions (i.e., high school, college), too. I just think that reaching into non-professional leagues filled with adults is reaching too far. If the guys playing in these amateur leagues feel like they have a future in professional ball somewhere, then they can determine for themselves how and when to throw to both showcase their abilities and protect their asset (arm). If they don't feel like they have a future in pro ball, or if they just are driven to compete until the cows come home (literally. it's milking time then.), then that's their choice. Yep, their bodies might break down and that will suck when it happens, but it doesn't need to be legislated. Regarding this issue, the State B Tourney (where Moorhead played) featured 22 games that took place over 3 weekends at 3 venues and involved 16 teams from all over the state (Duluth, Moorhead, Rochester, for example). They play doubleheaders because they have to in order to get the games in to determine a champion. And if they've played town ball all summer and are at the state tourney, these guys all want to be the champion.
  13. My mom won't like it (she literally clutched her chest when I mentioned the possibility of trading Dozier a couple of weeks ago), but if the deal is right, make it happen.
  14. Yeah, 222 pitches is a big number, but what's the problem? The guy is an adult (23 years old), they asked him if he felt OK, he said he did, so he kept pitching. Judging by the picture, he's pretty content with his accomplishment. There's plenty of town ball teams that could tell similar stories. Did you also know that on golf courses all around the country, golfers continue to try to squeeze one more hole in before the storm comes? Keith Law and others should be made aware.
  15. The first name I thought of was Bernardo Brito. I really wanted him to be something with the Twins. I loved his name.
  16. It'll be fun to see how well he does in Korea. ...... I'm really sorry about that comment, everyone. Mom always said, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." But we didn't have the internet back then, so I have no idea how to apply the things Mom said about talking to the things I type on the computer. I wish there were a way to delete those words, but I'm completely lost with this keyboard thing. Why are all these letters mixed up, but the numbers are in order? And the numbers are in order in two spots! But the letters? All messed up! It takes so long to find each one. I've been typing for the last 52 minutes now. Anyway, I can't erase the words I've already typed. They are just there. Forever. And there's nothing I can do about it. Just like the Twins can't do anything to make themselves competitive in 2017. ..... My goodness. What is wrong with me? I'm sorry about that last comment, too. I really thought I had it out of my system after the first one, but apparently not. OK, I'll stop now, before I do something that I regret. Like attend another game this year. ..... AAAAUUUUGGGHHH!!!! It's a never ending cycle! OK. I'll stop. Right now. Also, congratulations to Lewin Diaz, and I hope he becomes a superstar for whatever team picks him up after we release him. ..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! So sorry. Sincerely, scottz
  17. Please read the following in your best Russian accent. This thread is joke, yes?
  18. Why I'd say it's going to rain sometime in the next month or so.
  19. My degree is in Meteorology, and all I can say about paragraph 1 is that it's pretty much right, though I don't enjoy the "built in excuse" part. The excuse is that it is really difficult. Kind of like hitting a baseball or throwing 3 pitches with pin point accuracy. Or being married. Built in excuses for everyone!
  20. Given that teams don't usually trade for pitchers - even good prospects - with "shoulder injuries", this gives more weight to a thought i've had for a while about Meyer's "shoulder injury"...which i think had a lot to do with the Twins not playing him when they called him up, and giving him the quick hook in his one start. my guess is that Boras will tell Meyer that his shoulder doesn't hurt anymore. And if that is correct, that the injury was really understood by all parties to be an agent-directed "injury", then I think this deal is about as good as we could ask for. Nolasco may well step it up and pitch well for the rest of his contract in LA, but we're only paying this year and $4MM next year, and in return we get serviceable (and sometimes downright good) Santiago. I think Antony is making some necessary moves that also seem pretty good.
  21. Looking forward to another minor league start by JO Berrios tomorrow. Go Red Wings! Enjoy!
  22. Just to bang the Zach Granite drum again, he went 1 for 3 and is hitting .309. He also stole his 35th base in 43 attempts (81% success). Edit: math
