  1. If only we had a pitcher named Poppen McWilliams .....
  2. Romero needs to win the battle of the rookies today, because the odds tomorrow against Martinez will be much worse.
  3. Definitely not getting excited about winning a series against Chicago ... Winning more than 1-2 games against the Cardinals and Angels collectively would be an actual step.
  4. Dobnak was even better than his line. The runs he gave up we're assisted by less then stellar defense. A passed ball, a steal of third where the catcher couldn't get the ball out of his glove and a poor throw from RF by Kirilloff all lead to the runs he gave up.
  5. I was at the Kernels game tonight. Graterol was quite impressive. Nothing was squared up. He gave up some little bleeder singles, but the White Caps looked basically lost. That all changed once the relief came in. Bechtold has an absolute gun at 3B. It was fun to watch, even though the bats never really got going.
  6. Did anyone else see the interview with Odorizzi after the game? I laughed pretty hard when he said the big mistake was "that home run to Whatever in the 4th inning". Palka should put "Whatever" on the back of his jersey for players weekend.
  7. Kirilloff is producing big in that CR lineup. Hope they can make a run for first place this weekend
  8. Rock bottom ... Any win at this point is a surprise ... At least every game has some highlights ... Morrison seems to be getting into the zone ... Pressly was sick
  9. Well, Dozier's about as cold as he's been in recent memory
  10. Robbie Grossman: Worst outfielder in the history of the game. Please DFA.

    Kerrigan?

Polanco beat that with a promotion from Ft. Myers all the way to the bigs a couple years ago. Of course, it only lasted about a week or so.
  12. Thanks, rain. Tonight's game is the one from this series that I know I can watch. Oh, you're going to dump on Cedar Rapids tonight too. Thanks again. I have seats behind home plate for Friday at Cedar Rapids. It was supposed to be Graterol. Now it will probably be Ober getting pushed into Friday (nothing against Ober, but I was looking forward to the 100mph glove pop).
  13. Those starts would be @ St. Louis and @ Anaheim. If Romero can pitch 5+ innings while giving the team a chance to win in both of those games, that would hopefully be enough to earn him starts for the foreseeable future.
  14. Umm ... They've won two of their last thirteen
  15. How I hope it works: To answer your question: Never. If Lynn can't figure it out against Chicago, either Hughes or Lynn "develops an ailment" and the other gets the mop up job. Gonsalves or Slegers gets an opportunity to join the rotation. How I'm afraid it will work: Lynn won't figure it out against Chicago, so they'll flip Hughes and Lynn. Hughes will get another start. Then Lynn will get another start after a Hughes failure. Barring injury, Gonsalves or Slegers won't get an opportunity until sometime in June unless there is a double-header need.
  16. I think they're more like "Travelers" than the "Magnificent Seven" ... Buxton and Sano are equivalent to whichever traveler is on an operating table in any given episode, Polanco is akin to the heroin addict, and Rosario is the super talent forced to operate in the corners of a mind with severe cognitive limitations.
  17. I just added him to my fantasy team, so I apologize in advance for the impending DOOM!
  18. I second the Gonsalves nod. I bet if they had the Twins official scorer, at least one of those errors would have been ruled a hit (didn't see the errors, but the Twins defenders have been getting bailed out on daily basis)
  19. I'd rather have normalized BABIP LaMonte Wade with his zone control and > Grossman defense. .370 BABIP Gordon with his 3.3% walk rate and < Adrianza defense won't do as much to move the needle.
  20. Watching them go 0/6 on double play chances Sunday was very frustrating. Couple that with Dozier in slo-mo on a couple rollers to the right side, and it just got worse. I know a couple of the DP chances were on slower choppers, but the plays didn't look fluid either. If half of those 8 plays get made, that would have been a completely different ballgame. I've been one of the biggest Dozier-for-life supporters, but I sure wish he'd play with a bit more hop in his step. If he's actually slowing down, then maybe, with reference to the article title, I was just possibly that wrong.
  21. Well, at least Falvine didn't give him a 3-4 year deal ... I guess they got that on Ryan
  22. Let's see: Lynn and Hughes scheduled to start games 1 and 3. Should be a nice chance for the Jays to make up some ground in the East.
