  1. There is no excuse for not having Pinto in the lineup basically every day and the same is true, now, for Suzuki. Gardenhire does have irrational fears. This is clear by applying it even to first base and Parmelee. It doesn't matter how rare it might be: the fact is that two of the best nine hitters are catchers right now and this should require that a manager builds a lineup based around this without having these irrational fears.
  2. Also, we can add 1B-DH combo here too, because this manager is also worried about DHing Parmelee.
  3. There should certainly, right now, never be a game against a LH pitcher where both of them are not in the lineup.
  4. I am definitely a believer in May, though not as a top 40% of the rotation guy. I think it is best to wait a bit for Correia to either suck terribly or get better enough to trade him for any kind of Miguel Sulbaranesque prospect if possible. This could happen in a month. So May will either benefit from a Twins injury or other injuries on other teams looking to make a playoff run. I haven't really looked at rotation depth for the top half of each league to see where he might fit.
  5. Kubel shouldn't be on the roster anymore, much less plugging it up ahead of two guys with .360+ OBP.
  6. What is wrong with this manager? Why air that out in public?
  7. A peculiarity so far this year is that Ortiz is pounding lefties. He has an .828 OPS overall, but this splits into .728 vs. RH and 1.062 vs. lefties. This flies in the face of his career splits and the past two seasons where his OPS vs. RH has been around .120 points higher.
  8. Why not just go with Santana-Escobar-Mauer-Dozier-Arcia right now? It isn't like anything else really makes more sense at the moment.
  9. Yes, this was the other night. "Parmelee is the backup first baseman" so he is "not likely to DH." Not kidding.
  10. If there were any way to get back to an 11 man pitching staff there would be no issue and the Twins could avoid this weird paranoia about catcher injuries that Gardy is so plagued with. Seems like Suzuki is cooling off, as expected. He and Parmelee get in where needed . . . but did you guys catch the Bremer-from-Gardy explanation for Parmelee not DHing . . . same catcher paranoid is at play at first base. Yes, at first base. That is, of course, the simplest position to play. Anyway, for now, Willingham-Hicks-Parmelee or Parmelee-Hicks-Arcia with Arcia and Willingham DHing, respectively most of the time. The rest of the time Pinto DHs. That is, when he isn't the starting catcher, which should be four times a week. Save a good-ish overall batter like Suzuki for a pinch-hitting role more. Now, one has to wonder how the Twins might be better served by being a 70-75 win team as opposed to a 75+ win team with regard to trading off (for whatever) some of this roster clutter or not doing it because of the wild card chase . . .
  11. Travis Harrison and Max Kepler are viable trade candidates, though I am not sure what for at the moment. Both seem cornerish in the OF and 1B. Buxton, Hicks, Arcia, Rosario, and either Parmelee or Ortiz (if the former can be traded) would be my vote for June 1, 2015.
  12. Romero instead of Kubel would be a very welcome improvement. Romero has stuck with the organization and is ready to contribute. And that RH bat is needed given Colabello's collapse and departure, and Willingham's continued decline.
  13. I don't mean to do that. I just think it is funny. And now I care little enough about the difference in production (potentially) that I find myself on the other side. And Hicks has been improving offensively over the past two weeks.
  14. Just an aside: many, many months ago I got a bit smacked around for claiming that switching to RH only would be a big, big learning issue . . . and now most seem to agree with that view. TD is funny sometimes.
  15. Herrmann will be getting some CF time in Rochester, according to Gardenhire. This is an interesting development, but isn't all that surprising. They must really, really like Herrmann for this to go down. When Sam Fuld proves to be only an injury liability/defensive replacement in not-CF, the Twins will need someone else to backup Hicks once again. And dear god and a half . . . Gardenhire is sitting Pinto again instead of DHing him or catching him instead of Suzuki. This is atrocious managing and must be a product of Gardenhire's weird paranoia about catching injuries and losing the DH. Anyway, Herrmann batting 8th in tonight's Rochester lineup. The terrible Brad Nelson is batting 5th. I continue to marvel at how the minor league teams misuse prospects and players with major league fringe potential. Also, it is interesting that the Twins don't just promote another of my adoptees, Danny Ortiz, to play CF in Rochester. I mean he is an outfielder and he does have much more experience in CF than Herrmann does. He is also smacking the ball currently and is two years younger than Herrmann.
  16. It isn't clear: A: that Hicks is going to learn how to play MLB better at AAA and, B: that there really is a legitimate replacement in CF that will lead to winning more games right now for the Twins.
  17. Herrmann not in CF tonight, but C instead. Meanwhile, the Red Wings have Brad Nelson, who is terrible, batting 5th. REALLY? I mean he is terrible and doesn't even belong on the roster. But batting 5th?
  18. Again, free Josmil Pinto from this bench. This is atrocious.
  19. cmat smacking it down again with regard to Hicks.
  20. Free Josmil Pinto from this bench.
  21. The best outcome is that he continues to be very good and the Twins can shop him at the deadline (even as "buyers" he would be a likely tradeable asset).
  22. At the very least, Colabello will be back in September.
  23. Pretty much Mr. Consistent. The 2013/2014 AAA numbers are particularly similar. He is a .700 OPS AAA player.
  24. I just fell in love with you a little bit because of this comment!
