    133 plate appearances and Herrmann's OPS has climbed to .892 (.314/.383/.508). He is slugging a good number of doubles. His catching has been solid in AAA and I think it is about time to replace Eric Fryer, who, contrary to TR's wild fantasies about last offseason, is not good.

    In 120 plate appearances, Ortiz has climbed to a .246/.275/.439 (.714) line with 4 doubles, 3 triples, 4 homers, 5 walks and 23 strikeouts. He is starting to figure it out in AAA, and the strikeouts aren't all that alarming.

    This is a great signing. It's cheap and I laugh at "inconsistency" complaints about a 16-year-old kid! Drawing the "ire of scouts" . . . .hahahahahaha! What? At that age I was consistent about absolutely nothing except for not getting girls.

    1. It isn't bad to give Colabello a chance to start hitting again. If he does, he is a solid fill-in for the time being. 2. The other options, Vargas and maybe Danny Ortiz (Parm to first, Ortiz to OF), probably were considered, but neither deemed ready. 3. I pretty much always agree with you about prospect movements, but this case is pretty borderline, and maybe Colabello hits and generates some trade interest. Or he hits and the Twins feel comfortable keeping him around and trading Parmelee a bit later. 4. Unexciting promotions to MLB, yes . . . mainly because of injury though (Sano, Buxton, May) or up and down performance (Meyer). And Polanco should be headed to AA quite soon.

    Sorry I didn't see this. Yes, clearly my griping about not playing him in CF has to do with his 4th OF status.

    The AAA numbers are creeping up for Ortiz. In 90 plate appearances, the OPS is up to .694. He has hit 4 homers and has 4 walks. Both of those numbers are dramatic improvements over what he produced in AA. Ortiz looks to be figuring out AAA pitching. I cannot envision a September scenario that doesn't involve him, if the Twins are thinking correctly.

    102 plate appearances: .319/.363/.489 (.852), 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 1 home run. Herrmann is maintaining a very good OPS at AAA right now. That is an encouraging sign for the future, especially if the Twins decide to shop Suzuki (which they obviously should).

    I really hope there is nothing wrong with Roberts. If he had already had one full injury-free year in the last few, he would potentially be in the Twins OF right now. Injury free and he would have been a top 10 prospect.

    One would almost have to think that he will be sent to New Britian after this. I mean it would be pretty weird to jump from A+ to the majors for a few days and then be sent all the way down again!

    Hicks should be back with the Twins in CF.

    Added flexibility for Rosario comes from Buxton's potential offensive prowess while manning CF. Part of what has made the Mauer-to-first transition not totally terrible is the fact that there has been very good offensive production from his replacements behind the plate, especially Suzuki. Rosario in LF is made a greater possibility down the road by the over-production at other positions. I still like the Rosario-Buxton-Hicks OF in full by 2016 if they all are going to be fully ready and able.

    Vielma moved up a level this year and his bat has gotten better this year. This is an important sign. He still needs a lot of work with the bat, but he isn't stagnating at all.

    Keep playing him. The coaches need to do their job. And so does Arcia. There is absolutely no value in AAA left for him.

    I'm not bent out of shape, and I understand Pino's success. I am claiming that calling up May instead is a better option both for now and for down the road. My question is really how the Twins evaluate AAA performance in its translation to MLB. It seems that there are some inconsistencies at play. And May is likely to be a better pitcher than Pino now, based on everything involved. Like Achter and Oliveros instead of Burton, for instance.

    The Twins will win 77 games this year. The order, right now, should be: Santana, Escobar, Mauer, Dozier, Willingham, Morales, Arcia, Suzuki, Fuld

    I find the Twins outlook on AAA astounding. I know I have asked this before, but what is the true value of AAA vs. AA? It seems like the Twins do not regard it is a necessary spot for prospects to play, yet they do focus in on AAA performance vs. track record (Pino is a clear example) instead of other factors (like the fact that May is a legit prospect and Pino is not). It's almost like it is a kind of purgatory for many players; moving from AA to AAA is a *bad* sign with regards to what the Twins actually think about you--it is better if you just skip AAA altogether, apparently (I believe this to be false). Think about the prospects who have skipped AAA altogether vs. those promoted to AAA first from AA. Revere, Parmelee, Benson, Hicks, and the like going back years vs. guys like Romero, Ortiz, various pitchers, past guys like Evan Bigley, Garrett Jones, etc. It just seems weird. Pino "deserves" a shot, yes. But May is the guy to get to the big leagues now. Dear god and a half . . . look at Kyle Gibson this year as opposed to last year . . . major league time is valuable now . . . for next year. End rant.

    Gonsalves will split time between E-Town, and Cedar Rapids, I predict. In 5 or 6 weeks his dominance will be too much for Rookie ball. There are good prospects involved here and he is the top one.

    Three out of four ain't bad. I just don't agree with the Hughes trade. For one, other teams might not be convinced that he fits for them. Second, I can't imagine the Twins wanting to trade their best pitcher. Let's hope to get a mid-tier prospect from Correia. Suzuki, Willingham, Morales, Duensing, and Fien are all great trade-bait.
