  1. I would hope that they don't send May back to AAA. That is by far the dumbest possible solution.
  2. I will go out here and say that there basically is no depth at the position. Suzuki is regressing and isn't even that good defensively. Pinto is getting shafted by the organization. Herrmann is going to be an organizational guy as long as he is with the Twins. Same with Fryer. Turner is hitting a wall right now, which wasn't that unexpected. Garver was always overrated. Navarreto and Fernandez are quite a ways off.
  3. Big fan of Eddie. He made my first ever prospect list at number 15 at the beginning of 2011. I am quite scared and feel a little sick about the possibility of Rosario--12 months from now--putting up sub .700 OPS for the Twins because they mess around with his development in weird ways like they did with Hicks. I still am surprised by Rosario not returning to AA for at least a little while this year.
  4. Probably been said already, but: Vargas *was* finding his groove! What a strange time to send him down *just* as the dude started hitting! I understand that love affair Molitor has with Rosario, but man . . . this isn't going to be very pretty. Eddie probably needed a bit of time at AA then AAA before a July or so arrival. Bernier on a roster is embarrassing, clearly. There is basically no way that I would have thought Vargas to AAA wouldn't imply, directly, Pinto to the Twins. That weird.
  5. This is likely to go south as soon as he returns to the majors. Sorry. Pelfrey to the bullpen is better, yes, but I wouldn't get too carried away about a few dominant starts in AAA for Milone.
  6. Plouffe is replicating 2014, and that is very good. Certainly a top 10 third baseman overall, though we will see if the defense holds up. And yes, dear lord, he should be traded at the deadline. This is likely, hopefully, the last draft for awhile that puts the Twins in the top 10-12 picks. The remaining aging veteran assets not named Mauer should be traded for prospect depth. Plouffe, Suzuki, Hunter, and half the 'pen . . .
  7. With a player like him, I would like to see legit speed and the ability to steal bases. This hasn't happened for three years. I don't know what is going on with him, but his future is clearly as a fourth OF.
  8. Keep in mind that this is a 15 through 6 list for a strong majority of MLB teams right now! Kepler is in the midst of a total breakout, by the way. Turner worries me. Further down, Garver worries me. On the . . . same hand . . . the treatment by the Twins of Pinto worries me. Suzuki is regressing to form. Herrmann is helpful with his defense this year, but I am officially worried that the bat is never coming around. And that is me saying that, finallly. There is a team that has two catchers who are young and good. That team is surprising right now and may be looking to improve in other areas . . . and it would bring to the Twins my old Purdue boy Kevin Plawecki. I won't go further here in this thread, but the C spot is problematic once again.
  9. Taylor was smacked around some in his start this week, giving up five earned in five innings. He threw 101 pitches in those five innings. In 43 IP, 3.56 ERA, 40 strikeouts, 18 walks, and a 1.395 WHIP. He is due for another strong 7+ inning performance in his next start.
  10. Batts only lasted 4 innings in his start this week, giving up five hits, four walks, and two earned runs. I think it will be a slow and steady move through the system, but he should be in Fort Myers within a couple months.
  11. 16.1 IP, 1.10 ERA, 31 strikeouts, eight walks, and a 0.98 WHIP. I expect Booser to move up soon. The walks are still high, but he is giving up s few hits. Fort Myers could use him right now.
  12. Navarreto is still out with an injury. 7 days has become 12 (I think?). Hopefully he is back soon and can get it together.
  13. In 63 PA at Fort Myers: .333/.413/.407 (.820), one double, one homer, six walks, 10 strikeouts, five steals, and two times caught stealing. He has 12 steals total this season and still has more walks (18) than whiffs (16). Overall, he is having as impressive of a season as any other batter in the Twins system.
  14. Oops, forgot about Robinson's situation.
  15. Well, they can clear a DH spot for Arcia, if they want to do so. I don't know what is going to happen there. I get the impression that they like Vargas the best of Vargas-Arcia-Pinto, but each one has some pros and cons factoring in their favor or against it. I really thought 2015 was Arcia's time to go ape . . . but damn it hasn't starter that way at all. Meanwhile, Vargas is starting to hit.
  16. It would be nice to see Rosario-Hicks-Robinson together to start tonight's game. Just. See. What. Defense. Can. Mean. For. A. Game. Please. Please?
  17. Hughes Gibson May Santana Nolasco (good lord) Meyer Berrios Rogers
  18. Lots of stuff to respond to here: Thrylos, yes, trading 4 of those 6 is probably a good thing, ultimately. Especially with Alex Meyer and Kohl Stewart going the way they are. JayKay, I think Kepler playing first is as much a lineup issue as anything else. There is no room for him every day in the OF. Also, it is possible that both Walker and Harrison see time at 1B in the future. EMPL, not really. Vargas is kind of a perfect mix of the two, sacrificing some power for a better overall approach. He is certainly what I think both Harrison and Walker would like to become offensively and they are coming at it in opposite directions. I think both will stay all year in AA and start next season in AAA (unless traded). There is *really* no rush with them.
  19. It's a damn good question. I think, in general, I want him in AA through June and then July and August in AAA. Now, a Dozier or Santana injury changes that. I like development time for him. Another case of *who is a real damn SS in this organization?* It's driving me totally crazy. Gordon and Vielma I am sure of, but no one else. Santana, Escobar, Beresford, Polanco . . .
  20. Just like last year, he had no control right out of the gate. It's getting fixed. I don't think either one is going to be with the Twins anytime soon, though, no.
  21. There are a couple recent minor leaguers who compare a little bit to this duo. Joe Benson is to Chris Parmelee as Adam Walker is to Travis Harrison. HRs and Ks vs. a more well-rounded approach.
  22. Not to merely complicate things, but I will . . . what about choosing between Harrison, Walker, and Kepler? Just like I think only one of Arcia, Vargas, and Pinto will remain with the Twins after Aug. 1 2016, I think only one of this minor league trio has a future with the Twins.
  23. Up to a .799 OPS. He has four doubles, two triples, and five homers now. He also has seven walks to go with 19 strikeouts.
  24. Three more homers and only four strikeouts this week. He has an .874 OPS with nine homers right now. The strikeout rate is getting back to his career norms.
  25. Everyone always talks about Harrison's homer potential, but it *never happens*. So there's that. The last 12 months or so have meant me shifting Walker ahead of Harrison in my prospect rankings, so it isn't that Harrison has been under the radar. It is still an interesting question because they are pretty equal, just capable of different things at the plate. I imagine Walker is better in the OF and is better on the bases.
