  1. Vargas will be up July 2. That is after an extended trip to the NL parks. Pinto should have been up awhile ago. Or hell, if they need a left fielder, Danny Ortiz could hit better than Escobar. I am surprised that I am thinking this way already in 2015, but I think Polanco should be fast-tracked. I would like to see him get some PAs at AAA for a bit first, but whatever.
  2. If one wants Berrios, one has to also be shedding someone from the rotation. Nolasco isn't going anywhere. So . . . who, if not Pelfrey, eventually? 6-man rotation would make sense if the rotation already had Berrios, Meyer, Rogers, and Duffey in it (and maybe not even then).
  3. Still believing in Escobar, I see.
  4. Seriously about 8 relievers should be on the move immediately! Hildenberger and Peterson are the two most egregious non-promotions, with Booser and Jones right behind.
  5. In no way did I think after clicking on the article that I would really read the whole thing, but that was a fantastic article.
  6. Lester Oliveros DOB: 5-28-88 in Maracay, Aragua, Venezuela Height: 6'0" Weight: 235 Position: RP Bats: Right Throws: Right Acquired: Acquired by the Minnesota Twins with pitcher Cole Nelson from the Detroit Tigers for outfielder Delmon Young on Aug. 16, 2011 2015 statistics (Rochester): 22.2 IP, 1.99 ERA, 13.5 K/9, 3.2 BB/9 (34/8), 1.015 WHIP No reason not to bring him on the 40-man and let him be a middle reliever right now. Stauffer and Duensing are terrible, Graham should be sent to AAA after a trade is worked out, and eventually one would think that Boyer comes down to earth and Fien is traded. Oliveros does not have similar stuff to Anthony Slama. End of discussion.
  7. It's been over five weeks, so here is an update: 194 PA, .224/.298/.276, five doubles, two triples, no homers, 16 walks, 38 strikeouts, 11 steals, two times caught stealing. .971 Fielding Percentage. It doesn't mean much independent of an eye test, but note that this percentage is wildly better than other "shortstops" in the system, other than Vielma who is the other true shortstop in the system.
  8. Been almost 6 weeks, so here is an update: 20 IP, 4.05 ERA, 22 K, five walks, 1.350 WHIP. Reed has been substantially better over the last few weeks and looks like he is back on track. No chance before September for a Twins call, though, in my view.
  9. A very partial list of players not taken yet, I believe: Cedar Rapids: Tyler Kuresa Fort Myers: Chad Christensen, Jason Kanzler, Aderlin(g) Mejia, Aaron Slegers, Todd Van Steensel Chattanooga: Tyler Duffey, Cole Johnson, Tim Shibuya, Alex Wimmers Rochester: Ryan O'Rourke, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Lester Oliveros
  10. Thanks for picking him up, by the way! The numbers are completely ridiculous. He is the most deserving of a promotion. He is also oldish for A ball, so Fort Myers is where he should be immediately. I want to see the movement in the system now.
  11. And I think he will be up for sure this year given the Santana situation.
  12. Arcia should not spend any time in AAA beyond a rehab assignment. Stauffer, Duensing, and Santana are the guys (in that order) who should be sent down. Also, just work out a damn trade for Graham already. Send Zack Larson or somebody. Mat Batts. Oliveros and Arcia on this roster would be good, pronto. I still bet that Vargas is down through the NL trip at the end of June. That allows for Rosario to stay and/or Pinto to come up (both if Herrmann or Nunez leave).
  13. There is no place for him if all three of those guys stay with the Twins. I really see no way around that. I mean he could fit very temporarily at some point next year, but with 12 or 13 (!!!!) man pitching staffs, no way.
  14. You are correct. I really do think that this can be worked out as he moves up, instead of worrying about fixing it right now.
  15. Not sure if anyone ever responded to wherever I posted about acquiring Kevin Plawecki from the Mets in a trade, but he is one target. He now has a sub-600 OPS with the Mets, but he wasn't really immediately ready for the Show anyway. He is better defensively than Pinto and has a similar bat potential. I believe he is about a 60-something prospect right now. Of note: the Twins have Kurt Suzuki, who actually would be a nice backup catcher for a number of teams interested in the playoffs. They also have Trevor Plouffe. They also have Eduardo Escobar. They also have Josmil Pinto, Oswaldo Arcia, Kennys Vargas, Alex Meyer, Kohl Stewart, Jorge Polanco, Danny Santana, Taylor Rogers, Tyler Duffey, Casey Fien, Blaine Boyer, Mike Pelfrey, Tommy Milone, Travis Harrison, and Adam Walker who could all generate moderate interest in trade packages.
  16. I understand that, but if they do the time for the crime, what else is supposed to happen? Hate the guy forever?
  17. I predict that J.O. Berrios will for sure be up with the Twins before September, then, for playoff potential reasons.
  18. Ortiz is now really smacking the baseball: 174 PA, .277/.328/.503, 11 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 11 walks, and 33 strikeouts. We are now talking about 30-double, 18-homer power, with an improving walk rate and an OK strikeout rate.Wha What to do with him? He is no Oswaldo Arcia, but if the Twins wanted to shop Arcia at some point soonish, Ortiz could fill in and be another OF option. If I were him, I would lobby for some CF starts over Eric Farris in Rochester. His path with the Twins will be 4th OF, and it might be 4th OF anywhere.
  19. Granite has now slumped his way to: 113 PA, .273/.348/.323, two doubles, one homer, 10 walks, 18 strikeouts, six steals, and four times caught stealing. The pitching in Fort Myers caught up to him, but he is slumping now. Look for him to level out the rest of the way and get that OPS to about .730 in high-A ball for the year.
  20. He's back! 0-fer in his first game back, but it is just important that he is playing again. I still expect a good rest of the season for him.
  21. Booser is just dominating. 22.1 IP, 0.83 ERA, 35 strikeouts, 13 walks, and 0.99 WHIP. It *really* ought to be time for Fort Myers for him. This is now getting ridiculous.
  22. In the past three starts for Rochester: 19 IP, six earned runs, seven strikeouts, and two walks. 1.323 WHIP and 3.34 ERA for the season. 6.8 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9, mostly in line with his career numbers there.
  23. Season stats are now: 176 PA, .256/.301/.537, 11 doubles, one triple, 11 homers, 11 walks and 61 strikeouts. He has been pretty consistent in April and May (.832 and .842 OPS, respectively). The K rate is starting to slowly get better. Slowly. And not surely, yet.
  24. Batts was great in his first Fort Myers start, going seven innings and giving up only one earned run. He struck out three and walked one. We will see what happens to his K rate now after the promotion.
  25. And will happen anyway when he is suddenly absent from the roster.
