  1. Thanks for pointing this out as it is pretty helpful in getting an overall view of where Herrmann is at right now. Trading some OBP for SLG is not the end of the world, certainly, and I would certainly like to see how he does in a half-year this year at Rochester!
  2. Yeah you are correct about that play every day thing for now. Aside from the defensive position, I still think Rob Deer is more comparable than Mark Reynolds!
  3. Yeah, I would hope he gets promoted as well.
  4. Rob Deer. Very low average with very good power. Massive L/R splits. Pretty soon the "play every day" thing should probably be replaced with a platoon situation . . . if the Twins can find a lefty to do so . . .
  5. Diamond should just walk Soriano every time he is up tonight. Diamond is the kind of lefty that Soriano destroys.
  6. Well no it wasn't a beaut at all. He just runs really fast. But Revere's performance this year has been fantastic.
  7. Very good developments. I thought Proctor and Hurt were potentially going to wait 1 year and 3 years, respectively.
  8. For anyone doubting Hicks, take a look at Denard Span's numbers in New Britain. Hicks looks to be Span with more power, less contact, and better all-around defense.
  9. Everyone who posts here makes me think "ooh, there has been a signing," but alas . . .
  10. Oops, no I just forgot to add Walker. I still think it is possible for Tosoni to be a contributor, and Ramirez could too. Hicks will be fine. Good, not great. Morales is a question mark, but Ortiz and Ray are young and promising. I hope that Rosario makes it as a second baseman. And I think Sano probably becomes a first baseman. Herrmann is a defensive upgrade over Doumit. I just hope he is ready by the beginning of next season!
  11. And the point is: they obviously liked him quite a bit, perhaps mostly due to the AFL. So for them to just give up on him in ST is just bizarre.
  12. Maloney would have been the guy out, but I meant Doyle as initially replacing Swarzak's role. I don't know if the Twins really would want two long relievers in the bullpen. Think of it this way . . . if there is no Anthony Swarzak or he was very injured during spring, Terry Doyle is likely on the team.
  13. Prospects/young non-prospects: AAA: Ramirez, and at some point this year (again . . .) Benson and Tosoni AA: Hicks, Herrmann (as 4th/5th OF on top of catching), and eventually Arcia A+: Morales, Ortiz, Ray, Rams A-: JD Williams, Leachman, Roberts Below: Byron Buxton, Dereck Rodriguez I still consider this overall OF depth.
  14. Ryan Dempster, 2 years and $25 million. Option on the third year.
  15. I hate forgetting someone. Pedro Florimon is about 35 or so. And there are a bunch of relievers at Fort Myers and Beloit right now that could be added at the bottom for now. While people may not like where I put Buxton, that could change after 100 plate appearances. The only player I went high on was Berrios, because I think he is a sleeper pick. I would rather generally be moving these guys UP after they start playing than having to move them down.
  16. Yep, it's a good thing the Twins evaluate on ST performance . . . Seriously, potentially losing Anthony Swarzak would have been worth having Doyle on the roster.
  17. Youkilis is a pipe dream. That would require Buxton. As far as trades go, I prefer the package method for high-level prospects or MLB pitchers. Right now, of the guys I want traded, only Capps probably brings a good return on his own.
  18. Priceless!
  19. It might be envy. I envy people who have such jobs, saying things that are not very intelligent.
  20. Why be embarrassed? Maybe I should be as an adjunct with another job and a Twins Daily addiction?
  21. Your take was still a little different than Seth's so it is perfectly fine. And it gave me a chance to rip on Souhan some more, so that's a plus.
  22. Mauer is not Miguel Cabrera, but he is a great batter, batting third in the lineup. Pretty impactful.
  23. Depth they have, more prospects who are ready for the majors they do not have at the moment. "Trading Span because of OF depth" is a dumb, stupid, idiotic idea (but what do you expect from Souhan?). Trading Span because starting pitching is needed is another idea not dumb (though I disagree with it).
