  1. ****. Cameron Perkins, 3B, taken by the Cardinals. I was hoping he would be taken by the Twins as soon as they started addressing the fact that they have almost zero third basemen in the entire system worth anything outside of Sano and Harrison, neither of which is likely, at all, to stay there.
  2. Interesting to note the Chargois sighting! That's something to look forward to out of this "situation" so far.
  3. There goes Elander, damn it. I can't think of another higher-caliber catcher left at the moment. What the hell?
  4. Kyle Hansen is a nice pick, unfortunately, for the White Sox.
  5. Wittgren and Oakes should be some Big 10 names coming off the board soon.
  6. Some college relievers are in that role to help the team as much as possible, but could be starters (Purdue has two solid ones who do that in Wittgren and Mascarello) both in college and moving forward, especially if they have two good pitches. I don't like doing this with a BUNCH of pitchers though! And still . . . passing up catchers and third basemen like it's going outta style . . .
  7. Mostly a reliever, again. Good number of strikeouts and without the walks. Maybe they are onto something with converting some of these guys to starters.
  8. Certainly there are relievers who could become starters, yes. I hope you are right. That is a good point.
  9. Yet another catcher taken before the Twins . . .
  10. So . . . . make fun of the "need guy" all you want here. But the two things that the Twins have a decent amount of in the system . . . outfielders and middle relievers.
  11. Good god, if you guys were THAT high on Buxton, you all should have been advocating fully for his selection at #2. No one else should have been considered at all! I will wait to actually see how he plays. Not that he is Levi Michael AT ALL, but plenty of people wanted to put Michael in the top 10, some maybe top 5 before seeing him play. Michael was thought to be taken a bit lower than expected in a much more talented draft, a draft that some say Buxton would have been selected 7th or 8th in himself . . .
  12. I am predicting that Hunter Virant is the first pick today overall, with Brown falling to the Twins.
  13. Why would they risk losing Brown and drafting Bard so high? If drafting Bard that high is the result of the "BPA" methodology of the Twins, then they need to think differently or get different evaluators. I hope that today is truly a new day . . .
  14. Or Ben Revere is the guy traded . . .
  15. And who bats leadoff?
  16. I understand, but LF is bigger than RF at Target Field. It would be one thing if Gardy matched defense with ballparks, wouldn't it!!! I understand DHing Willingham and think it should happen more often. But to want the Twins to maximize their OF defense when that happens isn't out of the question, right? I mean no one believes that Revere in RF instead of LF makes or breaks the Twins season, but still matters, in part because it shows the incompetency of the manager.
  17. As long as you admit that there is a net loss, that's fine. It's another little thing, like not batting Mauer second (for instance) that just seems bizarre. And little things add up. That's all.
  18. I put Buxton at 4 behind Sano, Rosario, and Arcia. Not sure how anyone could put a high school player higher than someone raking at A+ at the moment. I don't know what to say about Berrios at the moment. Maybe around where Boyd is in the teens. Bard? Um, not really sure what to think. I regard that pick as very very strange. I would imagine he would have been available at even 72.
  19. Did third base move somewhere else?
  20. Yeah, CDog is getting tired pointing this out. So there's that, but my god, why doesn't anyone in the "access" media find out exactly what went on and is going on there? I know there were statements made by Gardenhire, and I think they involved bad routes or something and someone here attested to the fact that he had some miscues. . . . but it was in SPRING TRAINING and it wasn't late in it either (as though that matters). It makes me have conniption fits if I think about it too much. It's just crazy. YET ANOTHER ridiculous decision based on SPRING TRAINING.
  21. Plawecki went higher than even I thought. The Mets are very smart (for a change).
  22. Wow. It's Gausman, Zimmer first. The Cubs are likely taking Almora.
  23. In no way would I put Buxton above 4 at this point.
  24. Hatin' on all the pitchers . . .
  25. Good day to rest Mauer anyway.
