  1. Shane Robinson is Ben Revere lite at the plate. He is Ben Revere plus in the field simply because of routes and his arm. He is Ben Revere lite lite on the basepaths. Correction. But overall, still Ben Revere lite.
  2. Haha, I didn't give your article a re-read to check, but do you find yourself wishing often that you would have written some of the stuff in the original article instead of in subsequent posts!? Probably a time-saver . The last point is pretty important. And it makes me think that the Twins care less about his "head" than many Twins fans do.
  3. For Robinson lovers, keep in mind that he is coming down to earth and is what he always has been--Ben Revere lite. I don't want that around in 2016, at all. And Schafer should already be gone.
  4. I am not going to sift through this all after my initial post. I do think that those concerned about Hicks' long-term role might want to consider the possibility that it is Oswaldo Arcia who will be traded (along with either Vargas or Pinto) by Aug. 1 2016 at the latest. Rosario-Buxton-Hicks could be sick defensively if the offensive production is there. Kepler, Walker, Harrison, and Ortiz add potential OF depth (with 1B too, in the case of Kepler for certain, and maybe Walker and Harrison eventually).
  5. There's always the 7-day DL. And there probably are a few guys at AA and AAA who could be released. This was the first time Greg Peavey wasn't terrible in a start, for instance.
  6. Because it is a crime against this organization and him, I am adding Taylor Rogers right now.
  7. No one is trading for Ricky Nolasco until at least 2016. There is no way it is happening, so all speculation about him must end! Santana, Meyer, Stewart, and Minier (huge potential upside is possible here) might work.
  8. I think it is just tempered expectations because there have been no success stories out of the system for awhile other than Dozier, Plouffe, and Gibson, and the second one took quite awhile, the third one is getting pretty lucky this year, and Dozier was a bit fluky.
  9. While Buxton is a totally rare talent and I like some soft pushing up through the minors, I do think that a modicum of caution is warranted to make sure that he isn't over his head completely at the plate initially. That is mostly going to have to due with the breaking ball, so I personally would like him moved to AAA pretty quickly just to see the different pitches that those kind of pitchers throw. And as far as defense goes, Aaron Hicks was "major league ready" defensively since 2011 or 2012. Well, something is wrong there. I don't want something weird to be the case with Buxton too (about route-taking, I guess).
  10. Finish May in AA, move to AAA until the All-Star break, and then join the Twins
  11. What on earth does poor James Beresford need to do to get a cup of coffee? How about they see how *he* responds in a few spot starts and as a utility player playing three infield positions? Bernier? What on earth? Beresford is a lot like Herrmann, in my view. The ceiling is utility, so the "play every day" line doesn't fit.
  12. Rochester in June and potentially the Twins after the All-Star break. I don't see it happening earlier than that. I want him to get some AAA time to see different breaking balls. Let's end the year with Rosario-Buxton-Arcia-Hicks as the 4 OF.
  13. The Wetmore article is pretty clear. I think we are looking at a Polanco kind of situation, not a Santana situation. Maybe a bit ahead of Polanco. This says little about Hicks other than in his situation they are not interested in playing yo-yo at all. Rosario has not played up to the level of his competition, so that is a strange statement. The versatility comment is just in reference to Pinto and Fryer. Eric Fryer was considered . . . that third catcher thing might come from Ryan as much as it did Gardy? I really think some 40 and 25 man roster changes could be in store by August 1st, including some DFAs and a couple trades (Escobar, Fien). Pinto, Rosario, Hicks, Buxton, Sano, Z. Jones (simply the best performer out of those Chatty guys), Oliveros, and Meyer could be Twins starting in August. Polanco, Berrios, Reed, and Burdi get September calls (and Herrmann comes back).
  14. Absolutely. I don't see it happening from this group of Twins journalists. Molitor seems more open to a frank discussion, though.
  15. I actually believed that no argument against Gonsalves would be possible. Anyone know about the FB velocity for him right now?
  16. Great article. It is pretty clear that this is a two-week thing, but also that Molitor's history with Rosario means something.
  17. All I am actually saying is that he hasn't even done well at all beyond A+ ball besides a good AFL showing in the fall. It would be hard to imagine a scenario where he does all that well in MLB given the struggles in AA and AAA over the past 10 months.
  18. Well, what about the sizable sample size from Eddie Rosario over the last year, aside from moderate success in the AFL!? Anyway, I have said here or elsewhere that I understand the move instead of Hicks.
  19. I have always liked Rosario, his suspension was total nonsense, and I think he will be a good player for the Twins sooner rather than later. And I understand the 15-day nature of this. What I don't understand is how anyone could think that staying up with the Twins could or should happen.
  20. AFL stats were pretty good for Hicks in 2011 as well. Ahem. AFL stats are almost as bad as ST stats as far as SSS go.
  21. Rosario's 2013 time in AA amounted to a .742 OPS. That was good for a second baseman, but "very good" for nobody, regardless of position.
  22. After a pretty thoroughly sub-par half season at AA last year and a sub-par month at AAA? I actually don't hope, for his sake, that he hits well in 12+ games and then the Twins keep him up. Have we learned nothing from the Aaron Hicks experience?
