  1. If one wants Berrios, one has to also be shedding someone from the rotation. Nolasco isn't going anywhere. So . . . who, if not Pelfrey, eventually? 6-man rotation would make sense if the rotation already had Berrios, Meyer, Rogers, and Duffey in it (and maybe not even then).
  2. Seriously about 8 relievers should be on the move immediately! Hildenberger and Peterson are the two most egregious non-promotions, with Booser and Jones right behind.
  3. In no way did I think after clicking on the article that I would really read the whole thing, but that was a fantastic article.
  4. A very partial list of players not taken yet, I believe: Cedar Rapids: Tyler Kuresa Fort Myers: Chad Christensen, Jason Kanzler, Aderlin(g) Mejia, Aaron Slegers, Todd Van Steensel Chattanooga: Tyler Duffey, Cole Johnson, Tim Shibuya, Alex Wimmers Rochester: Ryan O'Rourke, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Lester Oliveros
  5. "Him?" indeed. You should always have an AD reference. I cannot believe how good Pelfrey has been.
  6. He is busting out in a big way this year. This is a surprise (maybe not that he is having a good year, but certainly this great of one so far). I would not have thought it going into the season, but September is going to be Max's time this year! Even though he really has two options left, it will still be nice to see him in action in September. He isn't going back to the AFL.
  7. I certainly didn't think it would last, but--and I know I am about to refer to spring training as meaning something--I remember a game in particular where Boyer stood out in ST, in a game with Burdi and others pitching. He was hitting the corners at 95. His current performance shows a couple things. One, dedication is mental just as much as it is physical. Boyer seems like he really has his "head in the game" right now. Two, it shows that there is *something* to the strategy of trying to find the right guys here and there to fill out a roster.
  8. I believe the Twins have an extended trip to the NL at the end of June. I bet you that he will be down through that time.
  9. For the record, awhile ago I complained that Greg Peavey was in the organization. And now he has been fantastic since.
  10. Also, what are the "mixed reports" on Pinto's defense? Where in the *hell* are any actual reports on his defense? Can anyone find a single sustained analysis about it other than Parker's excellent job a few months ago? That report *certainly* did not indicate a need for the disregard of Pinto for this long into the season as a Twins catcher.
  11. By a ways off I just meant some years. A minimum of three, I would think. But no, I thought he was going to be a fast-riser on the lists this year. I think he is getting there.
  12. MLB FIP for Milone: 2012--3.93 2013--4.30 2014--4.69 2015 early--6.33 Whole hell of a lot of the wrong direction there.
  13. I would hope that they don't send May back to AAA. That is by far the dumbest possible solution.
  14. I will go out here and say that there basically is no depth at the position. Suzuki is regressing and isn't even that good defensively. Pinto is getting shafted by the organization. Herrmann is going to be an organizational guy as long as he is with the Twins. Same with Fryer. Turner is hitting a wall right now, which wasn't that unexpected. Garver was always overrated. Navarreto and Fernandez are quite a ways off.
  15. Big fan of Eddie. He made my first ever prospect list at number 15 at the beginning of 2011. I am quite scared and feel a little sick about the possibility of Rosario--12 months from now--putting up sub .700 OPS for the Twins because they mess around with his development in weird ways like they did with Hicks. I still am surprised by Rosario not returning to AA for at least a little while this year.
  16. This is likely to go south as soon as he returns to the majors. Sorry. Pelfrey to the bullpen is better, yes, but I wouldn't get too carried away about a few dominant starts in AAA for Milone.
  17. Keep in mind that this is a 15 through 6 list for a strong majority of MLB teams right now! Kepler is in the midst of a total breakout, by the way. Turner worries me. Further down, Garver worries me. On the . . . same hand . . . the treatment by the Twins of Pinto worries me. Suzuki is regressing to form. Herrmann is helpful with his defense this year, but I am officially worried that the bat is never coming around. And that is me saying that, finallly. There is a team that has two catchers who are young and good. That team is surprising right now and may be looking to improve in other areas . . . and it would bring to the Twins my old Purdue boy Kevin Plawecki. I won't go further here in this thread, but the C spot is problematic once again.
  18. Oops, forgot about Robinson's situation.
  19. Well, they can clear a DH spot for Arcia, if they want to do so. I don't know what is going to happen there. I get the impression that they like Vargas the best of Vargas-Arcia-Pinto, but each one has some pros and cons factoring in their favor or against it. I really thought 2015 was Arcia's time to go ape . . . but damn it hasn't starter that way at all. Meanwhile, Vargas is starting to hit.
  20. It would be nice to see Rosario-Hicks-Robinson together to start tonight's game. Just. See. What. Defense. Can. Mean. For. A. Game. Please. Please?
  21. It's a damn good question. I think, in general, I want him in AA through June and then July and August in AAA. Now, a Dozier or Santana injury changes that. I like development time for him. Another case of *who is a real damn SS in this organization?* It's driving me totally crazy. Gordon and Vielma I am sure of, but no one else. Santana, Escobar, Beresford, Polanco . . .
  22. Just like last year, he had no control right out of the gate. It's getting fixed. I don't think either one is going to be with the Twins anytime soon, though, no.
  23. Also, both Burdi and Reed are starting to chill out as well. They might be dominant the rest of the season now.
  24. Things: Interesting that Achter is closing for Rochester instead of Oliveros. Oliveros to the Twins and Jones to Rochester and Peterson to Chattanooga and Booser to Fort Myers is clear. This is minimally what needs to happen, and it doesn't matter if it is Stauffer or Boyer who goes, in my view. Stauffer just makes the money . . . unfortunately. Pinto should be up too. I am not sure they want to send Herrmann away for that, right now, but I will say that Jordan Schafer must go anyway. Rosario will be back to AAA, rightfully, when Arcia comes back. Two more months might be it for Eddie at AAA! I probably make almost all of the promotions Seth lists here, though Beresford would need a trade of somebody barring an injury (by the way, I swear . . . can anyway clarify the quality of SS arms in the system??). EST is pretty loaded with guys who can fill in with no problem for CDR.
