  1. That's right, though I do the same with position players too. Once they find success in AA I give them an extra boost in my rankings. Berrios is crazy good. He was a sleeper pick last year. Stewart is headed to GCL, undoubtedly, and may end up in E-Town. I hope Stewart forces me to change my mind, because that would be good for the Twins.
  2. It appears that way to me. I think SB has won a few arguments with me over the past year. So, yeah, I think a ban is in order. Bring on ST commenters instead.
  3. I don't understand even bothering with Eppley. The Twins have a whole bunch of pitchers in EST and in the draft. Certainly some NB pitcher is worthy of promotion (Logan Darnell).
  4. I am a Gibson, Meyer, Berrios, Stewart, May guy. HOLY HELL, that's five guys! Probably need one or maybe two lefties in the mix though. It is good to think that I will now have 5 starting pitchers at spots 4,5,7, 8, and 10 for the Twins.
  5. I am glad that Slama is freed from the organization that should have been using him as a Twin for the past two seasons.
  6. Fien or Herrmann. I doubt it will be Escobar, even though he is showing his true colors now.
  7. There are a few potential closers in the pipeline, but nothing above Fort Myers. I would like to see Hudson Boyd as a closer because he isn't striking out anyone as a starter. But anyway, I don't think the Twins are going to trade Perkins. And I don't think I want them to either.
  8. Oops. Clearly. He is a great option for teams looking for a bat/backup catcher/DH. After Vernon Wells and Travis Hafner turn into pumpkins, who knows what the Yankees will be willing to offer. And there other teams like the Rangers, Red Sox, and A's.
  9. Morneau being in the last year of his deal is exactly why the Twins should get something for him. ???? Perkins is not going to get an A-prospect in return. And I don't think that the Twins should bother with doing that. Burton is a good piece to trade.
  10. I like Stewart, but I am not putting him ahead of Gibson, Meyer, or Berrios. He is just ahead of May for me. I am rather surprised that so many are willing to put Stewart on such a pedestal. I don't think the Twins drafted well in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, so my top 60 prospect list isn't going to change all that much because of the draft. I will put Eades somewhere, of course, and Turner, but the latter's very realizable floor is Danny Lehmann. His ceiling is past Butera, but I don't know how much higher.
  11. The "deserve" part is pretty important though.
  12. Mika Brzezinski (you know who her daddy is) made some comment on how no content was actually being spied on, but it was really just innocent overseeing of things. Greenwald then replied something along the lines of "yes, that is your White House talking point" etc. etc.
  13. This gave Thomas about 5 more chances in Gardy's eyes.
  14. If not Morneau, then Parmelee. I don't expect a great haul back, but it should be a decent one. Morneau and Burton for one, Willingham for another, Plouffe and one of the minor league good pitchers for another (maybe Duffey or Boyd?).
  15. I would not be interested in trading him, in part because his contract is not too bad for the team. And he is a closer. Those people can last until they are 35+ at what they do. Willingham and Morneau need to be shopped for whatever can be had at the end of July. Perhaps Plouffe and Burton as well.
  16. Even if he totally sucks the rest of his time with the Twins, I apologize for my hatin' on him. I don't care if he turns into a pumpkin tomorrow. What he did tonight is damn good.
  17. Of all the people to read and comment, it had to be you. Part of the point is that Solarte would likely be in the majors if he were not blocked. Meanwhile Dozier has little to compete with. But keep on making "points" that just amount to sarcastic assclownery.
  18. In the 2011 season, the New Britain Rock Cats featured a dynamic lineup for the second half of the season which consisted primarily of Brian Dozier (SS), Chris Herrmann (C/LF), Chris Parmelee (1B/RF), Joe Benson (CF), and Yangervis Solarte (2B/LF). None of these five would see any AAA time in 2011 and only Parmelee and Benson saw September action with the Twins. After the season, the Twins committed to Brian Dozier going forward and Yangervis Solarte left as a minor league free agent, signing with the Texas organization. Here I would like to compare Dozier with Solarte. First they are physically similar, being 5'11" and about 190 pounds. They are both now in their age 26 seasons, with Solarte actually being almost two months younger than Dozier. Solarte is a switch-hitter who has played most of his time at second base but has seen some time in left field, at third base, and at shortstop. In that 2011 season, Solarte found his groove and posted a .329/.367/.466 (.834) line with 36 doubles, 3 triples, and 7 homers. He didn't walk (24) or strike out (38) much. Dozier was stellar for New Britain, posting a .318/.384/.502 (.885) line in about 2/3 of the season. Since that time, Dozier has found himself with the Twins for what amounts to close to a full season now with a demotion to AAA in 2012 where he struggled. Dozier is the primary second baseman for the Twins, almost by default, though his defense there has been great. Solarte has been in AAA for the Rangers organization ever since and is doing well this year in particular. His slash is .296/.337/.440 (.777) and has 12 doubles and 8 homers. He has been a super utility player, playing the three skilled infield positions and left field while posting decent numbers at all of those positions defensively. While Dozier has been handed a job, Solarte has the great misfortune of being in an organization with Elvis Andrus, Jurickson Profar, Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, and Mike Olt. Solarte has performed well in AAA and looks projectable for the majors, but is extremely blocked. Meanwhile, Bran Dozier's career is hanging almost exclusively on a combination of his defensive abilities at second base and the fact that there is no one better, somehow, to take his position. If only the Twins had sweetened the deal for Solarte either by showing commitment to him with either a AAA promotion in 2011 or a September call-up, or by offering more money to stick around and re-sign with the organization. It looks like it would have served both Solarte and the Twins well.

  20. I like that fun fact, SABR. That book should be required reading to get a high school diploma. By the way, I love how Greenwald smacked MSNBC the other day on Morning Joe. Mika is nothing more than a Democratic Party shill.
  21. The D-Bags, er, D-Backs hit Puig in the head and then Greinke in the head. The Dodgers players and coaches had every right to go fight those jerks.
  22. I agree completely. There are some decent lefty/righty situations here at times to spare Willingham, and there is also a need, I would think, to keep players sharp and that means both playing most of the time and getting a day off here and there.
