  1. The Twins are just pioneering a new strategy, TJ where the player misses 2.5 years instead of 1.5
  2. Speaking of Gonslaves. He needs to get to fort Myers. 7 ip. One hit. 11k today. 0.90 era now.
  3. In a redraft, giolito goes top five and Strasburg, who had tj goes 1-1 still. Harvey goes earlier than he did too.
  4. Have a hard time seeing Aiken not signing at 6 if he is there. He isn't going to improve his draft position by sitting out another year, if five teams pass in him this year he has to think that is about his market value.
  5. I like it Hosken. The other option is you tell Boras, okay. This panel will decide when a player is ready. But the panel also gets to decide a players true value on the free agent market. For example, they would tell they would have set Pelfrey's value at a minor league contract instead of a two year deal for $12M. Or Jayson Werth, well his value would be more like 3-40 versus 7-120.
  6. I think a look in LF would make sense, but it is unlikely. While you have a point about Mauer and 1B....we aren't really blocking anyone at AAA that would likely outhit Mauer. It could end up being Sano or Plouffe that ends up in LF....if Rosario does not pan out.
  7. That isn't true. We just need to find another team that needs some mentoring.
  8. I have always thought the best ____ in system rankings by BA were always heavily skewed towards the top prospects. I don't know who they had as the best INF last year, but my understanding is our best infielder is Vielma. But he can't hit a lick and therefore is not a prospect. So they probably gave the title to someone like Polanco or Gordon.
  9. Scott Boras, still complaining about Kris Bryant and Addison Russell, thinks a panel should decide if a young player is ready to make the team out of spring training. Coincidentally, this would benefit Scott Boras. I think a rule or panel that would make a team give up roster decisions to a third party is...um, far-fetched at best. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/12737070/agent-scott-boras-wants-panel-rule-readiness-players-prior-end-spring-training
  10. Duck Duck Grey Duck Or Duck Duck Goose?
  11. I agree with your take. I have always thought the guy that led off the inning hitting for a second time = around.
  12. I agree. I think the Twins want another couple month audition before Buxton arrives. Hicks is currently at .250/.340/.420. Granted it is only 11 games, but the slugging is encouraging. One HR, two 3B, and a double to go along with 7 singles.
  13. I just wanted to call out, you are doing a great job covering Kohl. I really appreciate it. If anyone watches one of his starts, it would be interesting to know how many sliders he is throwing.
  14. I would prefer a time machine. Move ahead two years and then report back with which players are starting MLB caliber players. Then we can just play those guys.
  15. Arcia has had 210 games though. Granted the Twins added time to this process by moving him to LF.
  16. Yup. Good athlete and good speed does not equal good at defense in this case.
  17. I would love to disagree on this topic because it is really, really hard to watch for the time being. But unfortunately where the franchise is right now, I think they have to wait. In 2-4 months, a lot of this gets sorted out and we are not winning the world series this year anyway. One of the main things that helps is I doubt both Arcia and Vargas prove to be MLB caliber DH and LF. If one gets sent down, then the other becomes the DH and it opens up some better defensive options. Given they are both young, we need more reps to see which one. You would hate to choose before you need to. Buxton at some point fixes CF, but he has a ton of rust to shake off first. No need to stunt his development to get better CF play for a short period of time. And if LF opens up, it may be Hicks vs. Rosario and we need time to pick who. Or if Sano sticks at 3B, can Plouffe play there? Has to be an upgrade over Arcia. But Sano has rust to shake off too. The only thing I could really get behind right now is swapping Hunter for Arcia. If Arcia has a future in the OF, it is in right IMO. So why not keep him there. From what I have seen, a 39 year old Hunter is at least a wash with Arcia.
  18. I agree with the valid arguments and it would be nice to get a spot start or even a game in long relief. The issue for me is is he repeating his mechanics. If he is, the control should not be a huge issue and his stuff thrown near the plate could be devastating. I would like to see about three starts in a row without spurts of a ton of BB's.
  19. In watching three games against KC, Cain looks really good out there. He covers a ton of ground with this speed and taking the right angles. So does Gordon, moreso on the angles part. He is fast for an LF, but Cain can just fly. #jealous
  20. Add 2 or 3 starts to 15 innings and it still isn't enough for me. I am keeping controlled, younger guys coming off a 3.80 fip over several of the others in the rotation.
  21. I agree completely. everything was somebody else's fault, usually a rookie or second year guy.
  22. I would not have pulled him either. But "mistake" does not seem like the right word. A mistake is mis-playing the ball. Hot dogging is something different.
  23. I am guessing teams would prefer it this way to not wear out their relievers in the minors.
  24. I think Pelfrey is an afterthought the second we have a better option.
