  1. The good news is the only two guys that maybe new prospects that get to the big's this year are buxton and Rosario. Buxton is as gifted defensively as you will find and Rosario, a former cf has to be miles better than Arcia and hunter.
  2. I am also picking Bo over Buxton in Techmo Superbowl.
  3. He was timed as the fastest to 1B for a right handed prospect since some guy named Bo Jackson. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1207371-2012-mlb-draft-what-byron-buxton-would-mean-to-the-minnesota-twins
  4. I have a dream of the July/August Twins having two good outfielders in it. In the meantime, it may be tough to watch.
  5. very cool, thank you
  6. Looking at a FA tracker, Kubel and Cuddy were the only OF I could find that signed in 2011 for more annually than Willingham. Virtually everyone else would have been a better OF defender than Josh. He was a 30+ year old converted catcher that has aged in dog years, with a bad back. http://espn.go.com/mlb/freeagents/_/year/2011
  7. I think most teams over the last five years have bought into defense being a huge factor in roster decisions. The Royals are a case and point. The days of the huge, overweight 35 year old slugging corner outfield are about over. But Terry Ryan has not bought in. So I don't know that he thought this was an issue. Cuddyer, Kubel, Delmon Young, Willingham, Arcia, a 39 year old Hunter. We have gone bat over glove here for a very, very long time.
  8. Certain things can improve and others can't. Oswaldo Arcia is really, really slow. He has a lot going on and he tries really, really hard when going after a ball. Case and point, the ball that went off his glove (pop up he came in and towards the line). Gordon easily gets there. Most LF's really book after it and get to it. He sort of gets there and is so out of control when he does he can't locate the ball enough to catch it. To the point about FIP and ERA. That was not an error. We somehow only had credit for two errors. But the difference between 70 wins and 90 wins is a few plays a game that you either make or don't make. With the current roster, we are going to rank dead last in making the borderline plays.
  9. This is what needs to happen by July/August. Buxton is in CF. Rosario or HIcks is in LF. Buxton shades whoever is in RF between Hunter and Arcia. I honestly think this makes our team 50 runs better just on defense. If either Arcia or Vargas flounders at the plate, the other is the DH and we have an actual outfield.
  10. River, We need to change the definition of routine this year.
  11. We gave the royals 7 additional outs in his first five innings. The royals consistently made the borderline plays. I count us at 0 for 7 and them 5 for 5. That is the difference.
  12. If the stars and moon align and buxton and Rosario are up this year, our pitching staff will look light years better.
  13. Twins miscues. Some were not errors, but plays that should be made 80 percent of the time 1 Ball under doziers glove 2 the double play where santana took his foot off the bag 3 the same dp. Mauer failed to scoop the ball 4 the other missed dp where dozier back handed and under handed it 40 feet 5 the pop up that went off arcia's glove. When moving forward and a pop up goes off your glove, that should be an error 6 torii misses the cut off man 7 arcia going back to his left. Tough play, but he was clueless amd gave himself no chance On the other hand, gordon made a tough play. Rios made two. And escobar made one. Btw, I am on replay and am only at the 7th inning stretch. Thus is so embarrasing.
  14. I see him winning 3-4 games with his defense. Which means that is probably a 5 game improvement over what we have put out in CF on the defensive side of the ball the last 3-4 years. Mccutchen had an Owar of 5 when he had seasons with an OPS in the .800-.820 range. So I have a potential 7-9 WAR player in his peak.
  15. Probably. Everyone says 30-30 but I see the HR's and SB's to mirror Crawford's 15-20 and 55-60. Nothing wrong with that.
  16. I think his ceiling offensively is Carl Crawford circa 2003 to 2007. 15-20 HR, 50-60 stolen bases. OPS .780-.820. Defensively, one of the best CF in the game.
  17. You acknowledged the sample size, but then tried analyzing what has happened in said sample size.
  18. Most AAA journeyman can come up and put up a .600 OPS. Those guys are a dime a dozen. But it does not mean they are close to being average MLB players IMO. HIcks numbers have shown he has been completely outmatched at this level. I am not writing him off. But he has not been close.
  19. The guy is dominating AA. An OPS of .828. On pace for a 30-30 season on a 162 game schedule. I hear the Twins have him on a plane to arive by about the 5th inning at Target field. Whew. That was a close one.
  20. We must not agree on where the line is. My good player line is a long, long ways from a .201 average, .606 OPS, 69 OPS plus.
  21. They both basically missed all of last year and we are 4 games in. Sano's OPS is .774 for crying out loud. He has a HR and 4 BB's. Buxton is at .697 with a HR and SB. Milone would also be receiving Cy Young votes right now. Really?
  22. It is hard to look at the stats over the last two years and conclude he is close to being an MLB player.
  23. Now he is 3-5, 2 singles and a 2B. Average went from .160 to .250, OPS is at .697. Maybe it was a small sample size. The other thing about this kid, he won't need to hit .330 with 30 HR to make an impact. He is going to steal 40-50 bases a year and provide 2-3 wins a game with his defense in CF.
  24. GM's don't like to be wrong. So when the GM drafted a guy, he will be given a leash that is too long because the GM wants to ultimately be proven right. I think that is what has happened with Aaron Hicks.
  25. The issue is Revere is no better than Sam Fuld. His career OPS is .660 versus .658 for Fuld (Granted he will swipe bags). But turning Revere into a guy that looked like a MLB pitcher and a prospect that can miss bats....you do that deal all day. I would also do the Span for Meyer deal all day as well. He was a 40-50th prospect and Span was going to be older when we were good again. Most the value in Span was tied up in that contract which only had 2-3 years on it. We weren't going to be good in that window. I don't really fault the Twins for mis-judging what they had in Hicks and doing these deals. With hindsight it is easier to judge. But halfway through and certainly at the end of 2013, Hicks had red flags all over him and they needed to bring in a better CF
