  1. My vote is "mad max" not sure why other than his name starts with Max and I like the 1979 & 1981 flicks Mad Max & Mad Max 2.
  2. That would be awesome if he could do that.
  3. MLBtrade rumors has recently quoted Arcia as saying about his experiences in Minnesota: “I don’t think I got the opportunity to show what I could really do,” Arcia said. “I know the class of player that I am. I don’t know that I got the time to show that. You’re going to struggle — there are ups and downs in this game — and you’re going to make adjustments. Everybody in this room is making adjustments every day.” Arcia also said he pressed too hard after being demoted to Triple-A last season, which didn’t help his path back to the bigs: “If you try to do too much, you’ll end up doing less.” I have my opinion on this. The Twins gave him plenty of opportunities and what did he do? He was a butcher in the outfield and a free swinging undisciplined hitter in the batters box. What were the Twins supposed to do with him?
  4. Glad to see they are pushing Jay up the food chain. Maybe AAA next season with a possible mlb debut in 2018?
  5. You don't have to tell me that. I had a concussion as a kid on a motor bike were i lost a WHOLE day to concussion amnesia. My mother said I couldn't remember my name, age, anything. I had some lingering symptoms for about 3 - 4 months. I am not taking a shot at Mauer. I am stating that athletes often make excuses (which they do) and blame slumps on lingering nagging injuries. You can't deny that. And by the way Brad Steil, the Twins' Director of Minor League Operations basically confirmed as such saying the broadcasters where "bantering" and that it was entirely inaccurate. READ AGAIN "Park does not have a hand injury and he didn't have a hand injury (or anything else) in spring training," Steil noted. "He does have some wrist soreness at the moment, but it’s not something that prevents him from playing. Players deal with bumps, bruises, soreness, and general fatigue throughout the course of a six month season, and we will occasionally give them days off to help manage those things." Sometimes a slump is just that a slump.
  6. My thoughts exactly. Let's be honest the Twins aren't competing next year and likely the year after. By then he's almost 36 and close to the end of his deal. If you can get something decent back in a trade that will help in the future you have to consider it.
  7. meh....I don't buy it. Every time a player slumps it seems to be some kind of an injury. We see this over and over again and the fans buy it. Why can't a player slump and take responsibility for it anymore. Inevitably it's blamed on a concussion from 3 years ago, an achy hammy, tired arm, bad eye sight at the plate, blah blah blah
  8. I have no problem hanging on to Santana as long as the Twins understand his limitations, age, etc. AND finally dump Nolasco and Milone (who most likely will not except a BP role). We have to give the kids a shot soon. Berrios is ready, just needs experience. May has proven he's starting material, but the FO needs to stop being stubborn and messing with his head. Once Meyer is healthy we can evaluate him as well. That said, the clock is ticking with the M&M boys (both mid 20's). Further down the line (early 2018) we have Gonsalves, Jay, Stewart, Thorpe (hopefully). Reinforcements are definitely coming it's just a matter of how long they (front office) are willing to wait. In my opinion, if you can get a valuable piece via a trade of Santana now, by all means do it. Not only do you acquire a valuable prospect but you free up cap space and go after a big name starter in a few years when Mauer, Nolasco and Perkins are off the books. Again just my opinion. By the way the Hughes contract is frightening. We can only hope for a speedy and effective recover or retirement.
  9. Agreed. I'd almost prefer the Twins get rid of Nolasco and Milone in favor of the youngsters (Berrios, May, Wheeler, whomever) and keep Santana if the return isn't right.
  10. No disrespect intended Dave, but this is a ridiculous statement. Santana has certainly been a viable #3 or #4 starter this year. He has CERTAINLY NOT been backed by the offense which has skewed his win total in a very negative way. He should be 6-3 instead of 2-7. His run support is 3.15 per 9.
  11. He's not been as effective this season as he was the second half of 2015. The Twins should dump him any chance they get along with Nolasco if possible. If they could clear 75% of his remaining contract and half of Nolasco I think that's a huge relief and allows them some flexibility to sign a higher quality starter or roll with the young guys for a while.
  12. Let's build on this positive momentum. DFA or trade Nolasco and call Berrios back up. Move Milone to the pen as a left handed reliever, trade or DFA him. Stretch out Trevor May in AAA (this will take a couple of starts). Call up Chargois and give him a fair shot. Find a trading partner for Plouffe and move Sano to 3rd full time and embrace the future. If someone comes asking about Nunez get what you can for him during a career year. If anyone comes asking about Dozier and offers a decent return, TRADE HIM before he beings his typical post all-star slump. Call up Polanco and get him meaningful playing time so that we can truly evaluate him as soon as possible. All of these moves should take place as soon as possible.
  13. Yes. One way or the other i think the Twins are going to be waiting out the arrival of Stephen Gonsalves and that is disturbing.
  14. Wow. I have to strongly disagree with this post. May IS NOT a AAAA pitcher. He has major league quality stuff.
  15. Oh I get the type. I know folks like this. You got to a cheap buffet pay, but realize the food is horrible. Instead of demanding a refund and or walking out you eat like a pig and stuff your self until your gut is ready to burst and you have to go home and lie down because you feel so bloated and sick. Terry runs the Twins with this mentality. Instead of walking away he keep running losers out, start after start, because he's paid in full and you have to get your money's worth. Just doesn't work if you want a winning franchise.
  16. I just wonder HOW MUCH LONGER we have to continue watching Ricky Nolasco lose start after start. I mean it's like torture. If the front office REALLY cares about winning they'd replace him with May (preferably) who has major league starting experience and has proven he can win games AND.........strike guys out with dominating stuff OR bite the bullet and embrace the loses while getting Berrios badly needed major league experience. I get that Ricky is still owed a lot of money, but at what point do you just bench him and say that's it your done. He only has one year left on his deal and we all know the Twins are not resigning him. To me this should be an easy easy easy decision. Just maddening to watch and another reason why TR needs to go.
  17. What do you mean "stunk even worse for his (very) short stints"? Are you referring to his 2016 BP appearances? or his 2015 starts?
  18. With as bad as this rotation has been this season why wouldn't they shift him back to a starting role (something he was beginning to master last year before the BP demotion)? Hughes is out. Santana has been mediocre at best this year. Gibson was downright horrible up until his last two starts. Nolasco stinks, Duffey has had more bad starts then good starts and only features two pitches, Milone is a soft tossing (mid to upper 80's) lefty, 4-5th starter on a winning team at best. Why not give the kid a shot. He has 4 pitches, 8.5-9 K/9 strikeout stats as starter, mid 90's velocity on his fastball, etc. Makes more than enough sense if you ask me.....which is why the Twins won't do it.
  19. Okay so Hughes is done for the season and the Twins will stubbornly stick with the rotation they started the year with minus Hughes. Santana Gibson Nolasco Duffey Milone Berrios stays in AAA and May stays in the bullpen. I hate it, absolutely hate it. And to think we could have drafted Giolito (who debuted yesterday for the Nats) and hung onto Ramos who is hitting .343 this year with an .948 Obs. I think i'm going to go puke.
  20. Good. He is hitting well and positioned at 3rd. Time for the Twins to move Plouffe. Simple as that. Also time to call Berrios and Chargois back up.
  21. That's why i included the bow and thank you card. Brew crew wouldn't do that deal in a million years.
  22. If they took Hughes off our hands at the same time, i'd do that deal any day of the week and twice on sunday. I'd even include a bow and thank you card.
  23. And you know what they'd win more games. Although i'm not so sure about Gibson anymore. Guy is such a slow starter.
  24. All of these questions are legit, but it doesn't matter what I think. What matters is how the Twins have consistently used these pitchers up to this point. Santana, Nolasco, Hughes, Milone, Gibson have all been used as starters. The results, putrid.
