  1. If Arcia isn't ready to go, then put Willingham on the 60-day DL. Add Parms to the 40 man and bring him up for whichever pitcher they want to send down, probably Tonkin would be their choice. He's better at first or right than Colabello, and gives him a month to get another look. If he fails again, you DFA him and it's no big deal.
  2. You know, Kubel looks amazing in the outfield by comparison to everybody else that's gone out there. Silly team, they thought he'd be the DH out of spring.
  3. Correia is one of the last guys I'd expect to strike out two guys to get out of a mess, even if they didn't give him credit for the first one. He's keeping us in the game at least albeit having to throw a ton of extra pitches to get there.
  4. It must be so relaxing for an opposing pitcher to pitch against the Mauer-less Twins. If Dozier doesn't lead off with a homer or Pinto doesn't catch up to one, you should get a shutout if your defense doesn't let you down. If Escobar or Suzuki finds their way on, there is always a Florimon or Hermann to kill the rally coming up next. And the middle of the order doesn't even swing so they aren't really a threat at this point.
  5. Is Jason Tyner available somewhere? He hit a home run in Cleveland once. Rene Tosoni just signed with our local Sioux City Explorers, so he could come back too! Where is Brian Dinkelman? He's a .300 hitter at the ML level. Lots of potential options out there!
  6. They need to make a decision on Guerrier today, so that's probably Darnell being sent down. Hicks should be back in a couple days too from the concussion list.
  7. Perkins. Gibson has a shot if we score him some runs and Dozier if he can get the average up. HRs and SBs aside, if he's hitting .230, he's not getting in. At this very moment, Kurt Suzuki deserves it too, but doubt that'll last another two months. If he has 60 RBIs at the end of June, that'd be a fantastic sign!
  8. I felt terrible when the Twins let Morris go a year ago without even giving him a reason, so I'm really glad that he didn't hold any bitter feelings in coming back from Toronto this year to take Coomer's spot. He's not really "colorful" for a color guy, but neither is TK and the change up from Bert is always welcome from time to time just to hear different perspectives and maybe more importantly, hear some different stories!
  9. Another K looking for Plouffe. At least we got to skip the part where he reaches down to take off the shin guard on the full count, then looks back in disbelief at the call.
  10. Hopefully Deduno can last long enough to get stretched out. Once Colabello Buckner'ed it at first, we probably weren't going to score three runs anyway. Maybe the bats will come awake at some point tonight. Get within three so Axford has to pitch again and we have a chance!
  11. I'd keep Dozier right where he is, especially if he's drawing walks and stealing bases (tied for league lead!). This year and in the past though, when he's had the chance with guys on base, he seems to strike out at a higher than normal rate. I like to call him a K-RISPy hitter, which we seem to have several of on this team during the past week. Maybe it's the pitcher being in the stretch, maybe it's distraction from base runners, maybe it's just putting too much pressure on himself, but something changes for him when he has a chance to drive someone else in. Only having one double so far might be a result of that as well. Maybe he's trying to hit it out of the park because he's heard all about nothing but solo homers? But he's scoring runs, stealing bases, and playing Gold Glove defense, and they are winning games so I wouldn't rock the boat with him right now.
  12. Here is our lineup: Brian Dozier 2B Joe Mauer 1B Trevor Plouffe DH Chris Colabello RF Jason Kubel LF Kurt Suzuki C Sam Fuld CF Eduardo Escobar 3B Pedro Florimon SS (Phil Hughes P)
  13. They would have likely had to trade for him within the ten days, so that's why they'd scoop him up for nothing when that expired.
  14. Groin injuries linger forever, better put him on the 60 day DL just to be safe. I hope Deduno makes the most of this chance and never gets stuck back in the bullpen again. And shouldn't Arcia be back activated soon?
  15. Yikes, one misplay on the swinging bunt, and suddenly Deduno looks human again. That'll be all the excuse they need to keep Pelfrey in the rotation.
  16. Thought Deduno might be rusty with nine days between appearances. No such problem that inning.
  17. Bert is about two beers away from actually saying what he'd like to say about Pelfrey with no filter and some FCC violations.
  18. Can we convince Jason Bartlett to give Pelfrey the old, "you tried, but you just don't have it anymore" lecture?
  19. Sioux City has gotten the Twins going back to when we picked up Midwest Sports Channel in 1992, minus September 1995 thru August 1996 when they replaced MSC with Classic Sports (pre-ESPN buyout). Only other time they weren't available regularly was the ill fated Victory Sports Network to start 2004. Before 1992 though it was WGN Cubs/Sox (and I really don't remember the Sox then, but I was in elementary school so might've just forgotten), TBS Braves, some channel that got the Yankees because I remember Deion Sander's debut game, and whatever was on ESPN.
  20. When I went on the tour of Target Field three years ago, there was at least one spot where they acknowledged the Senators lone championship, but I can't remember exactly what it was. But I remember thinking I was glad they didn't whitewash the entire history. I'd like to see them add a former Senator into the Twins Hall of Fame every couple years to help bring that to light. Plenty of HOFers that played with the Senators at various times. Plus, Kaat, Killebrew, Allison, etc did come over with the move, so it isn't like we started with an expansion draft and clean slate.
  21. I've got no problem with Correia staying in. He's already had the bullpen blow a late lead for him against the Sox, and also gave up a shutout in the 8th against KC when Gardy should've had the bullpen prepared to relieve him based on last year's track record of when he starts to falter. He also had the game where Colabello misplayed one in the outfield and Plouffe didn't even move on the ball hit to him at third, which led to big innings. That hurt his ERA because they weren't charged as errors, but certainly not going to hold him responsible for that mess. I think he gave up 5 when it should've been 1 run. I didn't like bringing Pelfrey back at all, but he does tend to do better first trip through the lineup, so flipping him and Deduno would be my pick. Pelfrey can work long relief and who knows, maybe he can become an ace set up guy?
  22. Aaron Hicks making like Kelly Leak out there.
  23. I wish him the best in retirement, and am glad he gave it a shot if he thought he had something left. Granted, I think he could've come to the same conclusion ten days before the season started, but if they told him he had the lead for the 25th spot, can't blame him for trying.
  24. If we don't need a fifth starter for awhile in April, it could be that Deduno is on a different timetable to get stretched out and will be in the pen regardless the first couple weeks. By the time we need a fifth starter, he'll be ready to go.
  25. I don't think they'd choose Pinto as the right handed DH ahead of Colabello at this point, but Gardy said they'd need a third catcher for Pinto to DH. Sending Fryer down already and keeping Hermann up could be a sign that they want to carry three. I'm guessing Colabello makes it for sure, and Kubel has looked pretty terrible, but Hermann could be in the mix with Kubel and Parmalee for that last spot if they want to keep Pinto also.
