Trevor May just made his long awaited Major League debut for the Twins on Saturday and...boy, that was a bummer. All anyone was talking about on Twitter, MLB.com, and here on TwinsDaily was "the future is here!" Gosh, if THAT is the future, I'm out. Now clearly, one outing is no where near enough to dismiss a young man's career. I am not saying May is done and worthless; but, wow, 7 walks? I personally believe that May will eventually be a bullpen arm, but that is beside the point of this feed. I was sitting on my couch watching May throw warm ups and I got honest to god shivers. I was (and still am BTW) so ecstatic about May's hopefully successful career. I just find it very interesting how desperate fans want to be excited for this club. Trevor's debut seemed to be equivalent to the second coming for Twins' fans. Again, I believe May will be fine. It's just very strange and, honestly, refreshing seeing Minnesota be so excited again for good baseball. Just imagine the feels when Mr. Byron Buxton first runs into center. Boy, can't wait for that day in 2021

May and Meyer at the bottom of the list
Trautmann13 replied to gmarais66's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Yes, this is funny and all. But we need to be serious here. If we want to see and talk about May and Meyer in our lifetimes, we need a new site. I'll step up and do what needs to be done. www.redwingsdaily.com, here we come! -
Plouffe will be back on Monday. At that point Polanco will almost certainly be moved back down. I literally see no logic in having him get only 3-5 ABs and than saying "see you in 3 years." I truly believe Gardy is starting Florimon for sympathy sake. If Polanco doesn't start tomorrow I may, for the first time, be seriously asking what Gardenhire is doing.

You wanted Trevor May? You can't have Trevor May...(yet)!

what did we do to deserve all these punishments? We didn't hurt anyone! -
I truly believe that sending down Pino in return for Pino is one of the best moves this team has ever, EVER made. 10/10

This team is so polarizing, and it hurts my body.
Trautmann13 posted a topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think that I speak for most Twin's fans, if I may, when I say that expectations for this team were not very high coming into 2014. Ever since the first week of the season, this team has been up and down to almost an extreme. As I sit and write this, while watching the Twins/Rangers opener, Minnesota sits at a 36-41 record, which would sound about right back in April. The way they have gotten there, however, is nothing short of aggravating. For the first time in a while, I was optimistic about this year's team. Even many of the things I was looking forward to have been polarizing. I loved the Nolasco signing clearly more than I should have; Pelfrey, very predictably I may add, fell over dead right out of the gate; Most of the guys in the bullpen have been up or down; Mauer is having the worst year of his career (starting to get things going lately though); Arcia has been either the second coming of Christ or a pumpkin; and both Hicks and Florimon seem they will never improve off of terrible '13s. (and if I don't mention Buxton and Sano, that means it isn't real, Right?) Yet, for some reason, I still love watching this team. The signings of Suzuki and Hughes seem too good to come from the Twins; Gibson has had an overall good season; Plouffe was finally hitting well before his injury; Going out and being proactive by signing Morales; Dozier becoming my favorite player in baseball (#BullDozier); and all of the guys like Vargas, May, Berrios, Meyer, and now Nick Gordon having great years in the minors, as well as seeing the beginning of the 'Calvary' coming up with Santana and now Polanco, even though with Polanco it seems it will be brief. Everything I love is countered by things I hate. I can't take it any more. My psychiatrist bill is through the roof! Everything I know is a lie! Remember, it was only 2 weeks ago that the Twins were a series win away in a slumping Detroit from us taking about a potential first place Minnesota baseball team. It hurts to watch, and yet I can't look away.-

Buxton/Sano Video and Article on Injury Recovery
Trautmann13 replied to BUGuy37's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I hate seeing Sano toss the ball to Buxton to throw it in for him. God damn, this year has been hard on our top prospects. Ugh! -
I agree completely with you, Sconnie. I don't know if the FO is really about this "why not us" thing or if it all for show. If they are, changes need to happen quickly; like this time next week. Things like at least one new face in the rotation and maybe 2 or more in the bullpen. As we have seen, this lineup can produce. You just can't realistically win a game where your pitching staff gives up 12 runs.

All we have heard for a few years now is how great the bullpen has been. People sighted the bullpen as the main reason this team has yet to loose 100 games in their resent struggles. Where I can see that in past years, is it just me or is this bullpen not been very good. Perk, Duensing, and Fien have all been good to very good this year; but almost everyone else has been at best up and down. Swarzak and Burton are both having pretty bad years. While this team is not terrible and could push their way into the playoffs this year, I feel figuring out every aspect of pitching is vitally important. Sticking with a bad rotation and potentially bad bullpen is very aggravating. Now, we clearly have a better bullpen than say Detroit (who as I write are surving up hit after hit to our boys in blue). Do I feel that they haven't been very good because the bad outings stick out more, or is there something there. Thoughts?

THERE IS A GOD!!!! lol, Correia got sooooooo lucky -
I would love to see him have a little more emotion. Like somewhere between Arcia and a rock. Joe just isn't that guy, though, and I believe he never will be. In every interview we ever see him in, he acts almost timid and answers questions quickly and gets to the point. Watch videos of exciting walkoffs, he is like and maybe a "woo" but that's it. He is an introvert and I believe helps keep him focused. I understand wanting more, but we will have to settle for watching a future HOFer wear Minnesota on his chest for a decade+

It is offically time for a change.
Trautmann13 replied to Trautmann13's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Funny you say that, I love Puck as much as the next guy. The actual day he announced his retirement was the day of my birth, July 12 1996. -
Tomorrow is my first day of summer vacation (yes, I am just a little baby.) Our Twins currently sit at 24-27. If you told me in January that at the end of May, the team would be sitting around .500 I would have thought they were enjoying success. Yet that is the case and I feel the exact opposite. After a reasonably good start of bouncing over and under that illusive .500 mark for nearly 2 months, the team has now lost 6 of their last 7. After being swept away by the Giants, they lost 3 of 4 against a hurt Rangers team. We have come to a point that unless some serious changes happen, this team will continue their free fall. These are the things this team NEEDS to do ASAP. (in my opinion) 1. Jason Kubel needs to stop playing. I like Kubes, I would even say he is one of my all time favorites. Yet, he is slumping worse than I ever thought possible. In 41 games now, Kubel is batting a respectable .243, but that is basically leftovers from his incredible first few weeks. Kubel also has an ugly .319 slugging%, and I mean UGLY for a guy who was brought in to supply some pop. Kubel has been next to nothing but an out for all of May, in which he has just 1 RBI. Oh, did I mention that he has struck out in 1/3 of his ABs (51 K in 163 PA to be exact). Yeah, either he needs to be a bench bat or gets the boot. I also believe he has a raise coming soon, so that might be the excuse the Twins need. 2. Josmil Pinto needs to start playing. I don't know if Gardy knows it, but Pinto is one of the most important players on this team. He has all the tools to be the catcher of the future. He needs some work, yes, but he is also second on the team in HR, evened out his K/BB rate a bit, brings a much needed spark to this line up, and has only started 13 game behind the plate. We all know that Gardy is scared of playing both catchers and with Suzuki who is a potential All-Star this year playing so well, Pinto is bound to get the short end. But playing him one or twice a week is not how he will grow into a possible 30 HR guy! Seth just wrote a wonderful piece on this exact topic, so I'll move on and let you go read that for more. 3. New faces to trade places The big one.. Has anyone noticed how Arcia has lit the world on fire in his return from the DL? Noticed the energy and passion he brings to an otherwise boring and through-the-motions group of guys? If bringing up some more young guys can result in more Arcias, we desperately need it. The problem is, with Sano and Buxton currently down, the lineup seems to have to stay basically the same (which is not been very good recently.) Oh but wait, what's this? After spending millions and all the offseason focus on the starting 5, they AGAIN have the worst team ERA in baseball at 4.54 and worst ERA for starters at 5.04! The starting 5 have also struck out a MLB lowest 180 batters, nobody else in lower than 210! The two best prospects ready for action in Twinkie Town are Alex Meyer and Trevor May, who have both had ups and downs this year but been overall great. The Twins need to stop worrying so much about service time and innings pitched and just pull the trigger on at least one of these guys. Now we bring it all together... Twins release Kubel or trade him in a package deal with Aaron Hicks' left handed helmets to some A team somewhere. Give that 40 man spot to Alex Meyer and send down/release/trade/giveaway Correia or Guerrier. Give May Correia's spot and wait another 2-3 weeks and see if Meyer is ready or someone else sh*ts the bed. Also someone can just slap Gardy until he plays our boy Beans some more. After that we win 6 World Series in a row and everyone is happy...or not.

I believe Beltre should be a first ballot HOFer. Yet, I'm not convinced he will be. He was rocky at best to begin his career, especially in Seattle. He most definately will be a second ballot though.
-
I honestly believe that Nolasco is more unbelievably unlucky than bad. 1st inning today, rag tag outfield gave the dangerous Giants 5 outs to score twice. Morse hit a bases clearing double by about 2 inches. I honestly believe that if we give Ricky a damn outfield, he wouldn't be 2-4.
-
I would love it if he would keep this up. What is more likely though, Santana or Escobar continuing with how they are playing now. I would say Santana, but I very well could be wrong.

Alex Meyer Rerun or just showing More Consistency
Trautmann13 replied to jokin's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
With the way the front office is working to 25 and 40 man recently, I would be surprised to see Meyer pitch in Minnesota in my lifetime. -
I agree with all 5 of your choices. I think that what will ACTUALLY happen is... Pelfrey just gets let go, Pohlad has a big enough mouth to eat 11 mill. Florimon simply looses his starting job to Escobar, who has been hitting very well lately. Hicks will get the rest of this year in a sort of platoon with Fuld. I believe they still have some faith. (whether they should or not is the question) Burton will be tacked in with at trade this July along with... ...Kevin Corriea, who is basically worthless to this team when Meyer is up. Best case we are able to dump KC along with Burton for 2 balls and a bat, or whatever the equivalent is. That may not be possible though

Article: Looking Ahead to Find a Shortstop
Trautmann13 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Next offseason should be used for 2 things. Signing James Shields (please god, please) and one of the shortstops mentioned. Realistically it comes between Jed Lowrie and Asdrubal Cabrera. I would be more excited for Lowrie given that he has been more consistently solid than Cabrera. Imagine if you will..... 2015 Minnesota Twins: Starters- Shields Meyer Nolasco Gibson Hughes Fielders (from catcher to RF)- Pinto Mauer Dozier Sano/Plouffe (one will DH) Lowrie/Cabrera Hicks Buxton Arcia Now this is saying basically EVERYTHING went right for the team from here on out. You can also throw Colabello out there to swing the stick if he plays half as good the rest of '14 as he has/did in April. The above team can actually make some noise and may become favorites in the Central. But hey, maybe wishful thinking but entirely possible. -
Sam Fuld, wearing previous backup CF Alex Presley's #1, had a very successful first game with the Twins at the Trop. He went 2-5 with an RBI and a lead off double in the top of the 9th that really should have come around to score. We know he can play the field better than most on the 25 man and can steal a base or two. With Hicks already out on thin ice after a disastrous 2013 and, excluding taking more walks so far in '14, more of the same this year. Will Fuld kick Aaron Hicks out of center or possibly out of a major league job completely? I know I am a lot more excited for Fuld's future here than Hicks' as of now. Given, this is literally 5 at bats in for Fuld, and Hicks clearly has more upside. Will the Fuld acquisition lead to a demotion for Hicks?
