  1. Yes, but if like half of these come to fruition, the team will win more games. If hitting improves, for example, the win total will go up. I am not expecting them to be in contention, I just want with in 4 or 5 games of .500 when it is all said and done. If some of the key guys like Dozier, Arcia and even Mauer continue what they have done in the past and we see promising starts from Meyer, Sano in the majors and Buxton in the minors, this will be a good season.
  2. Mass reports of Matt Garza signing a 4/52 deal are suddenly stated to be wrong (or not right yet). Brewers have stated that deal has yet to be reached, while Ken Rosenthal says otherwise. If Garza is still technically available, would the Twin's front office have the balls to swoop in, offer 4/55 or 4/60 and steal away Garza from under everybody's noses? Is this even a possibility? How amazing would it be to come out of this offseason with Garza, Nolasco, and Hughes! But again, I may just be grasping at straws here. Not even sure if possible.
  3. Im not sure I would like Garza over Nolasco at these numbers. Given I have a personal bias for Ricky being one of my favorite players, and always being annoyed by Garza's attitude. Even with that aside, Garza had a horrendous second half last year and has a glaring history of injury. Nolasco is basically the opposite. Am I way off here?
  4. Good move for Twins. Doumit rather quickly became "that guy" that was really messing things up. He was one of many DH/Outfield types on that roster. Im shocked that Atlanta dealt Gilmartin for such little return in Doumit. Yes, he has struggled with command and staying healthy this year, but he is still only 23! He has plenty of time to become more than the rich man's Scott Diamond that he currently looks like. Even if he stays in AAA for ever, good move by Minnesota opening a roster spot and gaining back $3.5 million
  5. The "Twins are in" thing is likely just to raise his price. Ryan wouldn't get a high strike out guy for this team. He has said himself that the DH role will be used to give guys like Willingham and Doumit rest. If Ryan signs him I swear....
  6. Gut tells me rotation will be: Nolasco Correia Hughes Pelfrey Deduno But like someone already said, I think that Deduno will have a very short leash and will be sent down with Diamond/Gibson/ Worley taking his spot if he struggles.
  7. With the big signing of Nolasco and Hughes last month and the recent re-signing of Pelfrey (God, please no), the Twins are reportedly still in on Arroyo, Maholm, and possibly even Garza. If Minnesota signs another on of these starters, would they have gone too far in signing starting pitchers? With Diamond, Correia, Deduno, Worley, Albers, Gibson and potentially Meyer and May ready and capable (for the most part) for a starting job, are the Twins over signing so far?
  8. would have had Arroyo 100 times over rather than Pelfrey. Especially after they all but had him locked. Reports had Reds only offering Arroyo 1 year deal when he wanted 3. twins were standing with 2. He was going to come here!! But no, lets sign a has been who never was. He was never good in NY before TJ, how in the hell is he supposed to suddenly be worth a 2 year deal? Arroyo is a far better pitcher than at 37 than Pelfrey will ever be. Very disapointed with this deal, hope it somehow works out
  9. I agree completely with everything already said. Ive said all along that Arroyo for 2 years is a great pickup. If Arroyo signs, (likely) no Garza, no Pelfrey, no other starter. Im 100% satisfied with a Nolasco, Arroyo, Hughes, Correia, PLACE NAME HERE rotation for '14. Now if they can add one bat, just one, I think this off season is good and complete
  10. i just got this ad while in school. This could end badly
  11. All I have to say is that I would love to see the Twins sign one more starter. It looks like it will either be a two year deal for Pelfrey or a three year deal with Arroyo. I would much rather have Arroyo than Pelfrey. Arroyo is old, yes we get it, but he has always been an inning eater which is what this team still needs. Pelfrey was never good before TJ surgery and I don't think he will magically be good 2 years after. Arroyo is a good, but ageing, inning eater and Pelfrey is a below average, inconistant pitcher who throws less than 5 innings a start. Pass on Pelfrey, sign Arroyo
  12. I really don't like this potential spot for Drew. First of all, he is basically the only SS on the market worth a damn, so he is likely going to get upwards of $50 million. Secondly, He is a defensive (a really great one) SS with little bat potential. Finally, don't we already have Steven Drew in the form of Florimon? Defensive with little bat? If the twins don't want to move forward with Florimon couldn't they just do the Dozier and reconstruct Rosario into a SS, he will likely be moving anyway according to Ryan
  13. Predictions: Dozier-16 Arcia-28 Willingham-25 Ploufee-11 Sano-9 Mauer- 12
  14. Sano or Arcia for me. I don't think Sano will be up until June/July. So Arcia will have will have more AB
  15. I would be more than satisfied with Buck on a one year deal and Arroyo on 2/20 with club option. I think Arroyo for guaranteed 3 years is no good given that he is aging quickly. I think if they signed these guys they would be ready for '14, with maybe the exception of a SS but that isn't looking too likely
  16. I would love to see Price in a Twins uniform. But we would have to give up WAY to much. Even in a hypothetical world where Tampa wont demand Buxton, Sano, or Meyer, we would have to give up the rest of our farm system and half the Major League club to get him. Love to see him here, but we cant afford to loose what we have
  17. Just joined the site last week and I am already in LOVE with you guys. I know you dont need me to say this, but keep this up boys!
  18. I think im being a realist here. This is practically (with the exception of Thomas, Morneau, and hopefully Colabello) That struck out 10-12 times a game against a halfways decent pitcher. I think it is just a little out there to say that they will just improve drastically because they were bad last year. I dont think they will strike out as much this year, but one to two Ks an inning and any rally is over with. So, I think they need or needed to sign somebody who won't strike out and someone with leadership, even for just one year.
  19. I would like almost any trade involving Rosario (as hard as that may be right now), and one or maybe 2 of our bullpen guys. The only guys I would not be happy about trading is swarzak and Perk. I feel like the two of them are key to that bullpen being what it is. But if Kepler, Meyer, May, Sano, or Buxton are involved...shut the door in Beanes face.
  20. Ok, Nolasco and Hughes have been inked, now what? I feel that they need at least one more guy somewhere, because I don't see this current team winning more than 65 maybe 70 games. So, who realistically could/should the Twins sign or trade for. Should they work on getting a DH, mentor catcher for Pinto, SS, Starter, reliever, or what?
  21. Oh come on guys, Weird-eyes Doumit is worth at least 2 balls and a bat. (BTW, he really is a problem guy and as much as I like him, its time for him to go)
  22. Oakland is looking for bullpen help and are wanting to trade lefty Brett Anderson. Should Minnesota look into it seriously? Who should/would they trade to land him. As of right now the only lefty in the equation for the rotation is Diamond and I personally wouldn't give him the job. I want to hear ideas!
