  1. The only thing I see now is how absolutely horrible the Pelfrey deal truly was. I was against it from the beginning and know I see that I was likely correct in feeling it was a waste of everyone's time and money. I would not be surprised at all if the best thing we see from Pelfrey this year is the Wichita State prank played on him. Hopefully this whole thing is just a prank and it will be over soon.
  2. I was never too high on Drew, but Getting him for 3 years would be such an upgrade. I also feel like it is a little soon to react so against Florimon. Yes, he can't hit and likely never will. But 6 games this year is not a good sample size for anyone. Yet if we heard they had a real shot at him with a 3 year deal I would personally buy a ticket to New York for Pedro.
  3. My initial thoughts are: 1. Bullpen is getting me a little nervous (but it was like 30 out, so not too worried) 2. Nolasco and Hughes had decent first starts. (If they keep the ball in the park...ooh boy what they could do.) 3.Top of lineup needs to find something. 4.Bottom of the lineup needs to keep it up 5. Twins may just be good enough for 70 wins this year
  4. I truly believe that people will be surprized by the rotation this year. Nolasco should be solid, Hughes WILL look great if you ask me, Correia will be similar to last year, Pelfrey will.........um... and Gibson will find his stuff and prove he will be here for awhile, The offence is really beggining to scare me. We need some young guys to step into their roles this year to avoid what happened in september last year.
  5. It really sucks for him that it came to this. We need to face the facts. He won 1 game in a Twins uniform, and had the worst spring I have seen in awhile. He we clearly the worst pitcher on the roster and needed to be dropped or traded and nobody would trade for him.
  6. The worst part about Worley is that he aint coming north after yesterday. That is for sure, in my eyes. Put if the Twins don't want him, nobody else will want him for anymore than a bag of baseballs. What next for him, AAA?
  7. Boy, I guess I really worded this poorly What I meant by this post was giving realistic Reasons HOW Buxton could "save" the Twins. What I really wanted to get across is that he is a very important piece of the team's future. Whether he likes it or no, being a #2 overall pick will come with some pressure. I am sure he accepts it and uses it to get better. I am not saying that he must be the greatest ever or he can just go away, I’m just saying that he is the center piece of this incoming class. He doesn’t need to be the best, but he very well could be.
  8. Are you telling me that one of the greatest of all time who played 22 years in the majors is better than a 20 year old who just had his first season at A ball? Get out of here
  9. When I wrote "saved", I didn't mean by himself. I really meant that he is the poster boy, if you will, of this next set of Twins. The biggest reason this team is on its way up, other than the front office realizing the new market and finally took part, is the farm system. Buxton is the best player in the farm system. So what I meant (and I guess should have said) was that the farm system was going to save the Twins, led by Byron Buxton.
  10. Yes, we all know how good Byron Buxton is and we have all heard of the same things over and over. Five-tools, speed, defense, steals, etc. This is just the qualities that show up on book about Buxton, though. There is plenty more to Buxton and the Twins organizations’ future that make him so sought after and dream like. I will now list the 5 reasons why Buxton will lead the Twins to a championship within a decade other than the common "He is good." 5. His differing and unique talent. Byron is so perfect for this team because he has tools that no one really has at the current ML level. Dozier, Florimon, and Hicks/Presley are the only current starters who can steal a base or two. The problem is that two or three of those guys are not expected to be part of the solution in turning this team around. Let’s just say for now that Dozier and Hicks are part of the 'future.' They together stole only 23 bases last year. Granted, Hicks was only up half the year (and never on base) and his numbers would obviously go up once he is around for a full season and performing. Yet, Buxton has the speed and base stealing skills to steal at least double that 23 in a year. Low strike outs, hitting for average, potential lead-off guy, and defense are all things this team desperately needs as well. 4. Superstar in Minnesota Buxton has the potential to be one of the greatest players…EVER. A Twin (other than Killebrew) could be up for debate as the greatest ever. Jason Parks has said, worst case scenario for Buxton is like Torii Hunter and at best is Willie Mays or greater. Buxton, when all is said and done, could have one of the best careers ever. That is just hoping and speculation, but it is still something that is not said of everyone. 3. His youth Byron Buxton is 20 years young. Let that sink in for a second....he is two years removed from high school...and hopefully one year from his ML debut. WOW! Buxton hopefully make his debut when he is 21. If the Twins play their cards right, they could be able to have Buxton in Center for ten, maybe twenty, years. He could realistically be an everyday starter for over a decade. That is a key piece of a future contending team that will be there year after year. Which leads to.... 2. Future 'Face of the Minnesota Twins' Let’s face it guys, Mauer won't be here forever. We have already seen him move out from behind the plate and history states that former catcher's careers after a move are usually not pretty. Not saying Mauer is done being Mauer, but we know every day is another day closer to him retiring. If Joe's career ended today, who would be 'that guy' that baseball fans would instantly think of when talking about the Twins? Dozier? Nolasco? Arcia? No, the answer will always be Buxton. Even now, never playing AA ball you can argue he is currently the face of Minnesota Baseball. The reason for this is... 1. One of the most exciting players I have ever seen! Byron Buxton has made me a bigger fan of not only ML baseball, but the sport as a whole. I have never, NEVER been more excited to see one man play the game. Byron will personally sell tickets for years to come. Even now we are learning that ticket sales are down for the ’14 season. God forbid it, but let’s say Sano, Meyer and all the other prospects don’t work out and this team still struggles. If Byron Buxton is playing at just half his potential, he will sell every seat in Target Field. Not to mention what will result if he plays at his full potential. Byron Buxton, overall, will save this team because of his skill set, his age, selling seats, and being a potential super star here in the TwinsCities. I absolutely cannot wait for his debut, whenever it be.
  11. I don't know about this one. A Correia trade is almost certain to happen at some time this year, but to the Rays? and with May? If May would to be included, it would be to get more from the Rays, clearly. But what are they looking at, exactly? Honestly, I would rather see them get a major league ready SS if they could, but that is most likely asking too much for Correia/May and from the hitterless Rays
  12. This is such a good thing for TwinsTerritory that it is not even funny. Having another hometown guy to be a face of the franchise is great. Perk is such a kind guy to all the media and fans and is proving his worth over the last few years. I don't even care about the money, I feel having an elite closer is more important than most think and having one until '17 with Glen's status is simply great. Also I love how they didn't do this in a year or two, this shows that respect and love the organization shares with him. Great move for both parties.
  13. Boy, this is the only way for this to happen too. Cabrera and Hunter HAVE to practically die or retire mid-season for the Twins to go over them. This is very fun and I love this post so much for it!
  14. At this point it is not worth bringing in either of these guys and loose that mystical draft pick. If one was to be signed, I would rather it be Drew because I have lost all faith in Florimon's bat. Get Drew on a 3 year deal, give the job to Danny Santana from there after.
  15. This deal is reportedly still on the table, which is interesting considering we have heard he wants a 1 year deal. If he signs here (which is not likely to happen and we are all probably all wasting our time) the rotation for 2015 could be literally one of the best in baseball. Meyer Nolasco Santana Hughes Pelfrey/May That rotation could honestly lead a team to a championship. I would be good with this deal if it somehow happens.
  16. Wow, we must have had a huge wind storm in the first month of the season last year. Poor, poor Vance. I hope the wind brings him a nice crisp ticket out of Minnesota
  17. If they'd take Worley for 2 balls and a bat I'd be all for THAT
  18. Earlier in the off-season I believe I remember seeing something connecting the Twins loosely to Alejandro De Aza. Now there are reports of the Twins having "quite a few (De Aza) fans in Minnesota's front office." Is this a serious possibility or just more PR bullcrap? Would it even be smart to sign him into this cluttered outfield with Willingham, Presley, Hicks, Parmelee, Arcia ML ready and Buxton (please) only a year away?
  19. I had no idea about how the Yankees goofed around with Hughes pitches like this. I somehow doubt that it seriously effected him a negative way, but still interesting. Oh and congrats on the marriage, Parker!
  20. Been here for a few months and I absolutely love what you guys do here! This is such a professional and kind environment I am so glad to be (sort of) a part of. Everyone from Bonnes and Hageman to Nelson and all the smaller guys makes me even more excited to be a Twins fan and hopefully we can get a half ways good team to talk about here soon. Thanks again guys! -Noah Trautmann

  22. Woops! Sorry guys, lol. I guess I missed that one
  23. With the Twins (most likely) done this off-season and spring training rolls in, what exactly are we looking for this year? As the roster stands, this team should be marginally better than the previous 3, yet likely won't make a run. With that said, what should fans base opinions on what a successful 2014 would be? Does the team need to be at .500? Do we need to see the debut of Sano, Meyer, and possibly Buxton? Do we need to see bounce-back type years from players like Florimon, Hicks, Diamond, or Worley? Do we need to see even more success or improvement from Arcia, Mauer, Pinto, or Dozier? Do we need evidence that Nolasco and Hughes were good purchases? Do we need to make good trades at the break with Willingham, Correia, Swarzak? These are just some ideas I came up with and I'm curious what all of you think we need for 2014 to be a good step towards something great.
  24. Unless the Twins sign Drew for 3 or 4 years I don't think it would be worth loosing a 2nd round pick. Lets all face it, the next time we will be even close to contending is 2015. If we sign Drew to a 1 or 2 year deal, his talent and our money/pick will be wasted with him stuck on bad teams. Wouldn't be again signing Drew, but for no less than 3 years (and I feel that is unrealistic)
