  1. It's ok. I thought about doing that too, but I was using A LOT of links and some photos as I went along, and I wasn't sure if they would transfer over to word. I'll do that next time and just add the links/photos at the end if they don't stay.
  2. Just a general question, is there a way to save a post before you post it? I couldn't find a way to do that, I had spent about 30 minutes+ on my post for Sano, and then my browser crashed. Given how unstable browsers are these days, it would be great if there were a way to save your work before posting. There may be such an option, but I'm not sure how to do it. Thanks.
  3. As for going over the cap (which will be around $6 million if they trade for maximum non-penalty cap space) this coming year (July 2, 2015-July 1, 2016) to sign Javier and others, Kiley McDaniel and others have said a couple of times that the 2016-2017 crop of international players is likely to be better than this year and one of the best in a while. And since everyone who went over this year (including the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, and Diamonbacks) and everyone who goes over this coming year (probably including the Dodgers and Cubs) is likely to be prohibited from spending big in 2016-17, that might be the best year for the Twins to make a splash and go way over their cap in the international market. Just a thought.
  4. Any word on whether Sano's wrist is healthy enough for him to get the start today?
  5. Seems like Miracle play today too at 6:30 Eastern. Are you sure it isn't 4 Twins minor league affiliates starting their season today?
  6. I'd listen to San Diego about D. Santana, Plouffe, and/or Escobar (obviously not both Escobar and D. Santanta). San Diego still has some good prospects left: Renfroe, Hedges, Liriano, and Gettys would all be targets I'm interested in. I doubt the Twins would do it until a little later in the spring or summer, but any of those prospects would be valuable and help fill holes in the Twins' lineup. Hedges and especially Renfroe would probably take something more, but we could throw in another, lower ranking prospect, or to appease the above poster, Duensing.
  7. I totally agree they should spend all of it, but you can't just be like, oh, I have $500 K left, let me go sign a top 20 guy. For instance, the top 20 guys have agreements in place long long before Jul. 2. And it is not just a bidding war. Teams have to make sure there is a fit, and a lot of players want to sign with an organization they feel comfortable with. So even if the Twins did have money left over, which we don't know for sure, there may be many good reasons for that. Generally the sense I've gotten is that the Twins are not afraid to spend their full pool. This year they are already pegged to spend more than their initial pool distribution on a single guy, Wander Javier.
  8. Jeremy, not sure if you have access to the full article, but I know that a lot of teams were concerned with Ynoa's inconsistency, which was partly why/how he fell to the Twins at only $800K. Have you heard anything about how he's been doing since he signed? I assume he was still in DR this past year.
  9. Unfortunately, I do not have a BA account, and this is mostly behind the pay wall, but Baseball America just published a review of the Twins' 2014 international signings, which apparently includes a scouting analysis of nine Twins' signings (behind the paywall). Maybe someone else does have an account and can enjoy the article (and share any highlights). Also of interest, Ben Badler, the author of the article, had this very promising thing to say about the Twins' top signing ($800 K) of 2014, Huascar Ynoa:
  10. Fair enough. To be fair, his look, batting stance, and swing do sometimes remind me quite a bit of Justin Morneau. Maybe he'll develop serious power later on. He certainly has the frame and athleticism for it.
  11. Yeah, look out for Clay. His bad ERA masks some really good peripherals.
  12. I guess I disagree. I realize he has been hurt and is inexperienced for his age, but so far Kepler has not shown the kind of power that would allow him to stay in the corner outfield, let alone 1B/DH. Plus, his by all account good speed and defense probably make him a better profile in the outfield, and I think his power has a chance to improve enough to make him a decent corner outfield (with a good OBP profile), although probably not enough to play 1B or DH. Plus we have Mauer until 2018, and Vargas, Minier, and L. Diaz all waiting in the wings for 1B and DH after that. We are much more sparse in the outfield. It is quite possible one or more of Rosario, Hicks, or Walker will overcome their weaknesses to be a solid Major League Corner Outfielder, but for now that is far from a given, and its not even clear Arcia will hit enough (and stay healthy enough) to compensate for his terrible defense and stick in the Twins outfield. I'd much much rather keep Kepler in the outfield for now, or at least only play him at 1B and DH enough to give Walker and Harrison enough ABs in AA.
  13. Well, at least this is a change of tune from his earlier "statement" that he eats whatever he wants.
  14. No chance this would enable the Twins to back out of the deal, would it? I mean, they don't know how long he's been using this, or if it is has improved his past performance or helped him avoid injuries. I know literally nothing about baseball contracts, but as a lawyer, in other areas something like this might enable you to get out of, or at least renegotiate the contract.
  15. I actually agree, but as a way to take off 10-15 extra pounds gained largely due to not being able to exercise because of the arm, it might be a good one-time readjustment. Hopefully, exercising/working out regularly due to baseball activities will take care of the rest going forward. My only concern would be lack of energy/poor performance in the short run. But now is the time of the season to do it.
  16. Well, this is interesting. Bob Sacramento tweeted that Sano has lost 10 pounds on a "master cleanse diet," which shows that either Sano, the Twins, or both are clearly aware of how important it is that he lose some weight and be able to stay at 3rd base. https://twitter.com/TTurbo420/status/584000733873360896
  17. Really disappointed this morning seeing Thielbar lose a spot. I realize that it is just Spring Training so far, but I just hope that if Stauffer continues to perform terribly, or if Boyer does not perform, Molitor/Ryan will be wiling to send them down/release them/whatever and bring back Thielbar.
  18. This isn't news. It happens every year with countless prospects, (e.g., last year with Polanco), including many of the best. It would be surprising if it didn't happen with Bryant.
  19. Well, he's also saying they seem to have drafted (and traded for) prospects quite well, and that that is 90% of the rebuilding game.
  20. Great, well-written article. Highly recommend to everyone. Thanks.
  21. Yup, in this weak draft, if he's there at 6, I say take him.
  22. Well, in my original post I mentioned both prospects (being "on the doorstep") and Milone, Pelfrey, and May. To be fair to Ryan, he probably didn't expect all three of MPM, plus Graham and Boyer, to all pitch well, and that is a good problem to have. Again, it is not signing Stauffer per se I have a problem with, it is signing him and essentially guaranteeing him a spot, at least unless he sucks for months (like Nolasco did last year before he was taken out of the rotation).
