  1. Hmmmm..... I have always liked Rosario as a prospect, but I have this irrational (imo) fear that this year is not going to go well for him. Well, I guess there are signs.....but for some reason I'm nervous about him.
  2. guys, have all the optimism you want.....but almost no one hits 40 HRs anymore, I don't want you all to be disappointed in life if that doesn't happen.
  3. both....they didn't have him run much, he doesn't get on base much, and his success rate was low (SSSS* it's true). super small sample size
  4. You were a bit wishy washy there......how do you really feel? btw, I agree with you about May and Berrios (and maybe Duffey), but we all knew this would happen. Hoping to be proven wrong.
  5. He's awesome, but I think he's more like top 12 hitter, than top 3 hitter this year. I think most of the projections here are toward the high end of what could be expected. 28 home runs, .275 batting average, 30 doubles, 2 stolen bases (you know he'll get some), lots of "that ball gets by Sano, and is going to the wall" type descriptions that we will mostly try to ignore.
  6. 80.5 is right around .500......
  7. I share the concern above, that some of the players might be "meh", but not awful, and will stay on the 25 man, blocking guys with much higher upside (that might not produce much better this year, but could).
  8. I like this roster a lot more than last year's opening day roster. The team is definitely trending in the correct direction.
  9. I'm talking about last year, in the majors.....
  10. Or maybe Duffey should go back to the bullpen, where two pitches works....though his 2 and 4 seamers are really two different pitches, imo......I don't know, but I hope they make the decision some time this year, because he's not young.
  11. Tough to predict anyone but Trout winning it, but I think the Astros are in the AL now, right? They have a darn good SS that I'd say has at least as good a shot as Sano does. And Machado. I'd put Sano's odds at about 3-5% this year.
  12. Under, and clever to hide it in the minor league section of the site........
  13. 31 steals? His success rate has been pretty bad.....you all think he'll improve that? You think he'll be on base enough to even get that many opportunities? I am going with the under on Seth's projections, I am Missouri on this player right now.
  14. I love how Bruno and Allen worked on this together, and how Bruno gives him some of the credit (along with Kepler, of course) for the development. Great organizational leadership there.
  15. then make Plouffe the DH, and put Sano at 3B....and don't bid a on guy you didn't expect to land, that can only play DH or 1B? They made these decisions themselves. They get to choose who plays where, and at what level of the minors/majors. No one else makes those decisions, no one.* *other than injuries, of course, forcing decisions to be made, but they still get to decide what to do after one.
  16. I am baffled that Sano got the Ponder treatment this year. He should have been in RF all day, every day.
  17. NO ONE IS ASSUMING THAT. We've been over this. NO ONE IS ASSUMING HE IS A 2. The straw man is tiresome. It really is. Some of us think he has that upside, and we'd like to bet on the upside for a change. You agree with the Twins, bet on the low side play. That's fine, that's their right. Some of us just don't agree.
  18. Not cutting bait on bad investments, because you have committed money to them in the future is exactly what badly run businesses do every day. It is a drop in the bucket to bring up a better, younger, player. But, as you point out, most businesses would make the wrong decision.
  19. I remember when people said anyone questioning Buxton's hit tool was overly negative...... that would be an entirely depressing set of decisions, imo. Nolasco should be a starter, with 3 starts or so to show if he's got it or not. Duffey should be in the bullpen, with his 2 pitch selection, or to be the long man. That OF is depressing, but I agree if Buxton is down, it is Arcia, Rosario, Sano, until Arcia shows he can't hit, then Santana moves into CF.
  20. Huh, rare time I'm more optimistic than Seth! I'll take nicks' numbers, please.
  21. He also needs to learn how to steal bases, which he was mediocre/bad at last year in the majors. I hope he figures it out, loads of natural talent there.
  22. Right on? Sigh. Over, I'll go over, but I think TX makes a trade or two, and passes them.
  23. ah, I read your post wrong.......I thought you were saying you hadn't seen any evidence that anyone saw it as a steal, my bad. I don't pretend to know about "most", since I only read a few sites now, and not tons of them.
