Well.....that was depressing to read, but accurate. I agree with nick and van......it needs to about putting the current prospects in the best shape for the next few years and not about return. 4-5 years in, they have nearly zero tradeable assets.....wow.

No. I think they'll play much better at some point. That said, looking at the roster......I agree.....there are not a ton of guys I think are good players in 2 years on this roster right now.

How long should it take? When do we get to judge the number of 90 loss seasons as too many? I just want to know, because the goal posts seem to move a lot.- 165 replies

I'd wait at least 3 more weeks for Buxton to continue his progress. I have no idea what the clubhouse is like......but I have my doubts it is a great place to be right now. But, I have no idea. I would not wait until fall call ups to call him up, though. He needs to be back up in June/July, to face real MLB pitching for 2 months, so they can know if they need a backup plan again next year. Wade should have been promoted already. But, we see the slow progress in the low minors thing with him for sure.

There don't appear to be many TR supporters on this thread, saying they pretty much want TR, or someone like him. I think those that want him gone are just talking to each other on this thread, and most of what is interesting to say has already been said. Basically, I want a leader that knows that the world changes, and that to stay on top you need to innovate and either change with the times, or ahead of them. One that knows that it isn't good to have pretty much only people that grew up in your company in leadership positions, that you need to bring in outside ways of thinking and doing from time to time. One that communicates well to employees, and has a clear plan for them to execute. I could go on and on, but what I want is a modern executive, that knows about baseball. There are dozens of pages on the internet about leadership and strategy and innovation. I want a leader that embraces much of those ideals.- 165 replies

Plug a hole or three with FAs, not build the team out of free agents. 80% of the SP were FA or a guy they got for Sam Fuld........Also, it isn't their job to sign FAs, it is their job to sign the right FAs more than they sign the bad FAs. It isn't just process that matters......- 165 replies

If Milone is a MLB average pitcher, why did no one claim him? I don't get it.....but they didn't. So, either every team but a handful (who have 5 SPs) are wrong, or we are.

I thought Ryan said he never entertained offers for Plouffe, not that they got no good offers. That said, 3B were cheap this off season...... I agree, other than Abad (who would have guessed), and Santana (not Danny), I don't see any viable trade candidates on this roster (though if Gibson comes back and is good, he is, but I would not deal him).

I'd cut Nolasco, and call up Milone. I am not in the clubhouse, but does anyone think Nolasco is helping with the culture? He isn't helping on the field........ If Berrios or Meyer could pitch, I'd want them up instead, but that appears a ways off.......and all of the other great prospects are in A ball still......

Article: Five Prospects The Twins Should Promote
Mike Sixel replied to Jonathon Zenk's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Here is a list of people saying he's the savior: Now that that straw man is dead........the Twins are terrible. They seem to have issues with young players not being ready when they come up. They could start pulling guys up, and see if they are ready or not (those that are close) and also to get them a taste of the majors.......or they can just keep being awful, not gather information on their minor league players this year, and go into next year w/o an idea of which guys are ready.........- 34 replies

I'm just kind of resigned to the fact that they'll slow them thru the low minors, and then maybe speed them thru the upper minors. Totally backward, imo, but that seems to be the MO.

Polanco could play most days, by moving him around the INF...he doesn't. Sano could play 3B, with others in the LF/RF, but he doesn't do that either. He could platoon Arcia/Sano/Park, but he doesn't do that either. He pretty much pencils in the veterans (and Danny Santana, who he loves as a player) in the same positions every day. So, it isn't the easiest roster to play with, but he doesn't even do what little he could.

That has been my argument for some time. KLAW has said the same thing, I believe, about the Twins. Get them to AA faster, then see what you have.

Of course we don't have the information the FO does. Of course if we just started running the team with the collective it wouldn't work. I'm not sure how that is relevant, though. They have the information. They are paid to put a good/great team on the field. They have largely failed at that for some time now. Comparing their performance to how anyone on this board would do doesn't make sense. Outside of a few teams, most teams have had good years over the last 15, including the Twins. The question is, what is success? To me, it is more than 1 playoff win and more than 1-2 seasons with 90+ wins over a 15-20 year period..........

I'd put Polanco in the lineup, and have him bat leadoff for 2 weeks straight......but since Mollie won't play youth (other than Santana) consistently.......there is no good option. The team is filled with 3-7 (and lots of number 9) hitters.....

Well, no one predicted a 41 win pace......that's true. But, all of what is happening is all of the bad things predicted (other than Park) pretty much all coming true at once, and to an extreme..... No true OF on the roster Mediocre veterans with little upside and serious downside risk No leadership Bad bullpen Rookies that might, probably, will regress Buxton looking over matched last year, will that continue Leaving your best SP from last year in AAA to start the year No backups in AAA if things go badly for the OF Trading for a backup catcher, instead of trying to go big (or even average) Moving Sano to the OF Rosario likely to regress offensively etc...... Every decision but Park has seemingly turned out badly.

Agreed, that post was very slanted and does not, imo, accurately reflect the feelings of the board. The team is bad. It has been bad for years. It has largely failed to draft and develop players. The players they traded for have not worked out. For years, I was told that was because they drafted so darn late that no one could expect them to develop good players. Well.....now what? What has caused them to be wrong about Meyer and May? What has caused them to have almost nothing to show for their early picks (so far)? Other teams in the same situation have some playerS that they have drafted come up and be good/great. Multiple players. The Twins have Duffey and ???? Not all is lost. Not all of the guys that have failed to be good so far are lost. I believe in Buxton, Berrios (picked after round 1, but still good, which I was told was not possible), and others. What I don't believe in is the Twins' ability to develop them, and to put them in a position to succeed once they get here.
